2008 Texas State Open Championship

I approached a couple of stages with a hoser mindset and got caught in a speed trap that cost me points and penalties.

Couldn't talk your way out of that ticket, eh??? :D Yeah, this was definitely not a hosefest sort of match, for sure...

I agree with you that it went awful darn smooth for being understaffed. In fact, our squad progressed too smoothly - we were ahead of schedule constantly, and were found standing waiting on 1.5 squads to shoot our last stage of the day on Saturday.

Hey Guys,

Squad #5 was an absolute pleasure. I was your scorekeeper on stage 01. My ears are still ringing from the blasts of Rhonda's gun and the concrete walls on both sides of the stage. Ya'll even broadened my vocabulary :roflol:

Seriously, ya'll were a great squad

You can't say we didn't warn you. Especially when we all ran out from under the awning when it was her turn to shoot. ;)

It is loud, isn't it. She shoots it well, too. We enjoyed the officials on Stage 1, too. You had a good sense of humor.

It was a good match. Good stages and well run despite the staff shortage.

Thanks, man - with the exception of your stage, anyway. I took a shot of 5 hour energy right before your stage as I was feeling a little bit tired. Let's just say I felt like Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles - "but I shoot with THIS hand!" Taking a sight picture on those covered up classic targets with my hands shaking all over the place was ugly ugly ugly.

Ahhh, Squad #5 must have been my favorite North Texas Potty Mouth Squad. :roflol:

Had a great time at this match! Squad 5 was a hoot as usual, and 9 out of 11 of us walked away with trophies - unfortunately, I was one of the 2 that didn't... But the pool party at Hotel Waco made up for that! Thanks again to Arthur and all the staff that put this match together, y'all did a great job. Hope to see it back on the calendar for next year.

I was the one of the other ones with no trophy. The match was run very smooth and was very challenging. I applaud the guys that stepped up to RO the match. They were short handed on Range officers and the match ran smoother than some others I have attended that had a full staff. I approached a couple of stages with a hoser mindset and got caught in a speed trap that cost me points and penalties. I will be better prepared for the match next year. My squad was a hoot as usual and the gathering at the pool was one for the books. If you can't let your hair down in front of your friends what good are they. That pool also appears to have a strange appetite for Oakleys and cell phones, doesn't it Rhonda!

Umm yeah, turned out to be an expensive (but really fun!) weekend for me... I'm sure the pool boy will be really happy with his new half-jackets! And it turns out that once a phone gets drowned it's hard to get all the data off of it. Sigh.

I heard it too, but they were speaking my language. I was on squad 4.
