IPSC CHIK1
"pepper" is from John Pepper who is credited with designing the device. no idea on "popper" SharonAnne L2387
jhgtyre
I thought it was because you had to give them a "pop" to make them fall over. -ld

Vince Pinto
In 1994 and 1998, John Pepper was a (D) candidate for the House of Delegates for the State of Maryland. I believe he lost both campaigns to other (D) candidates.

benos
Yep, it was John Pepper who gave us all the pepper popper. It is kind of a silly name isn't it. But now as for the clueless retard who came up the US popper, that's another story. You might have guessed that I hate those things... be http://www.brianenos.com/pages/hate.html#popper
gm iprod
The trouble is there are clueless retards everywhere. Just look at any political office it is littered with them. Somehow they manage to breed.
AGYoung
I had the honor of learning my combat shotgun craft from John Pepper in the early '90's. Every Wednesday we would all meet at one of the ranges at Ft Meade, MD and learn from one of the best. The thing I remember the most was shooting a series of wooden 4x4x4 blocks off stands. I had a discussion with John once about the “Poppers” name and the answer is not quite as above. He called them lollypops because that’s what they looked like and the popped when you hit them. I guess the term got shortened to pops then poppers but John’s name was always associated with them as their inventor. Does anyone know if John is still around? As I remember, he was “older than dirt” and “deaf as a post” (his words).
