blowback type PCC cleaning

Recommended Posts

The blow back design is inherently dirty. The bolt takes allot of build up of burnt powder. Has anyone used Easy Off oven cleaner ? Or an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the bolt ?

I’ve tried both the Easy Off works great then I ultrasonic finish it of wash it off blow dry it. Comes out clean as new.

Is this bad for the bolt?

Seems a bit extreme but if your happy with it.....

I just take a paper towel and drizzle some Bore Tech C4 carbon cleaner on it and wipe the bolt off with it.  Good thing is the C4 is not sticky  or gooey and actually contains a short term rust preventative.  The C4 INSTANTLY removes the carbon.

I grease the bolt and upper bearing surfaces with light synthetic  grease.  Everything just wipes off.  The bolt face, extractor I hit with a bronze brush and then spray with whatever is handy.  Nothing special really.

Hoppes Black in the metal can, spritz and wait a few minutes.

Blast off with 3M high power brake cleaner.

Re-lube. Mobil 1 5w20 works great.

If you want a 1 and done, Hoppes Gun Medic is amazing cleaner and very light lube in 1. Blast out the crud and keep blasting.

Ultrasonics take too long and require too many material checks for my taste.
