9mm sluggish bolt movement

Shot a SC match Saturday and noticed the bolt motion/rebound seems slow to cycle. How can I speed up the bolt cycle time?

What buffer? Does the bolt have a weight in it?

 

With a fast powder like sp and using a rifle primer you should be able to take the weight out of the bolt. With slower powders removing the weight isn’t ideal because the bolt will open too fast and throw unburnt powder out.

Odin adjustable with weight at 7.5oz - bolt weight is 14.9oz and has weight in it. Would it be better to lower buffer weight or remove weight in bolt?

Shooting that light of a load with a buffer that heavy, no wonder you have a sluggish cycling action.

 

Pull the weight from the bolt and see if you shoot it better. It’ll surely be more... snappy.

remove bolt weight first see how that shoots, then adjust buffer weight. Also try varying gn of powder, see what gives you the best feeling and dot track. At the end of the day everyone is different and perceives recoil differently.

I'd remove the buffer weight first.  Bolt weights are generally around 3 oz.  That's a big change.  If the buffer weight was to short stroke, you can regain ss without the weight by using Taccom or MBX ss plugs.  Short stroking reduces cycle time.  So you have several weight reducing scenarios to try.  If one of them does not minimize dot bounce while avoiding violent cycling, you'll have to tinker with your load.
