Converting to 9

Thinking about buying a 38 Super Open Gun from fellow local shooter, my question is how much would gunsmiths charge to convert from 38 super to 9mm.

Yeah, thinking about it, if I can get a new CK Arms for around $3700 I might just go that route instead of dishing out another $1000+ to get it convert it to 9mm..

I looked at this option a few years ago and it was going to run about $1500.

Hello: It should only cost about $800-$1000 with a new barrel, comp, link, link pin, and fitting it all. You may need a new extractor also or it could be tuned. Thanks, Eric

Have a quick look at the shooters connection web site, as they have a New CK Arms 9mm Open Pistol for $3800 at the moment (discounted from $4k) but all Black.  This way you know how much you would be in for, and all new Pistol.

I spent ~$700 in parts and ~$800 in gunsmithing - but that was because the old slide had a breech face that wouldn't hold 9mm or 38SC - so I had to get a brand new slide and get work done.

 

If it is just a replacement barrel, it would probably be ~$350 for barrel & comp and then barrel fitting fee ($150 to fit, then probably some money to chase threads for the comp) from Gans.
