xtian999
Would a pump action fore end instead of a side charging lever be better for ppc? I know they already have pump action ARs, but I’m talking about in addition to the semi auto blowback operation. Like a SPAS 12. Edited November 15, 2018 by xtian999 splng Link to comment
xtian999
Since the gas tube is not used, put the action rod through instead. No fancy upper needed. Hand stays on gun, racks it like a shotgun. Edited November 15, 2018 by xtian999 Link to comment
Garmil
You can get one with a side charging handle in the handguard. Link to comment

Conventional rear charging guns have racked up wins at every area match and Nationals since PCC became a division. Enjoy your unnecessary widget. Link to comment
Acer2428
The amount of stabilization and mechanisms you'd need to add to not have a rattle-trap hack job would outweigh (literally) any benefit you'd have over a side-charger. Link to comment

Startingover
I like the idea of the pump action, but it seems unnecessary. To be honest, I dont even understand why guys feel the need for a side charge. But there is a lot about this stuff, I dont know enough about. Link to comment
Acer2428
I liked the side-charge for table starts and malf. clearing and that's about it. I don't think it gave any speed advantage otherwise. The pump doesn't give you a table start adv. and honestly moving your support hand that much is going to significantly move your sights, so I'd guess we're talking about milliseconds in differential here. Flatland Shooter
I have both rear charger and side charger ARs. I found I prefer the rear charger but do admit a pump action does sound interesting. I grew up with pump action shotguns and .22's. If someone makes it commercially, I'd probably give it a try. xtian999
I don’t make gun parts or generate business for myself on gun boards, I just think anything to increase accuracy and/or reduce time has potential. If the bolt has to be cycled manually for any reason, which method is best? Link to comment
Garmil
There are too many factors and preferences involved to say which method is best. Choices are good, pick what works best for you. Link to comment
