Gdub
So is the aluminum worth the price difference over the plastic ones? Thanks, Link to comment
longbeard
So is the aluminum worth the price difference over the plastic ones? Thanks,Worth and need come into play here. It is not needed. The plastic is just fine. I never worry about durability. A click switch would be nice mostly for ensuring it's off. I have left mine on slightly more than once. I don't remember the pricing now, but If $50 got me aluminum and click switch I would do it were I to buy a second one. More than that and I wouldn't bother. JohnnyD
If you keep an eye out on Amazon the polymer click switch version can be had for $250ish in certain colors and dot sizes. Link to comment
stick
I have both! My first was an Aluminum. I thought I would have problems with the Polymer in USPSA. I didn't! My second is a polymer. If you order the Aluminum and you decide to get certain parts for it, be careful. The Aluminum is wider than the polymer. Dot modules and different and aftermarket parts like the guga ribas hood need to be filed to fit the aluminum. Oh, and the blast shield won't fit on the aluminum. I don't really notice a difference in the two. I think my polymer has better battery life if that's possible. Link to comment
Alvin
Got five of the polymer...no problems with any of them....never saw a need for the aluminum. Clicks are nice though. I seem to turn the non-click ones up all the way in bright sunlight. Link to comment
crossgun
Agree with everything said especially having click switch over aluminum housing. I did get luck and bought my aluminum on a flash sale on Amazon for same price as plastic. Link to comment
Old3GNR
I've been running the polymer since 1999. Had the lens shoot loose on an Open gun once. Otherwise, no issues. Link to comment
