jpxd
I bought a used Stock II that ran fine for a long time, but now has started to catch at half cocked when the hammer drops. I think it's only happening on the DA pull, but not 100% sure on that as it doesn't happen frequently. The sear showed some wear, where the hammer hooks contact it, so I replaced it, but it's still happening. Still don't quite understand how the action really works to know what the likely cause would be. Any ideas or suggestions on what the look at, or try? johnbu
Over travel screw might be out too far limiting rearward motion. Remove it and test. If it fixes, replace at a spot with less travel limitation and locktite it.
jpxd
Removed it, and it still happens.
johnbu
In that case, it's "above my pay grade"! Sorry.

RobertLx
Someone could have altered the left lower leg on the sear. Not allowing the sear to rotate as far as it should. What disconector does it have installed? One wing, two wing, or maybe the CGW T3 disconector.
eboadway
If I bought a used Stock II, I'd replace the hammer, sear, recoil spring, hammer spring and TRS. Better to start fresh... Edited February 22, 2016 by eboadway
jpxd
It has the two wing disconnector. It doesn't look like it was modified at all. Also, both sears are one piece.
RobertLx
What do you mean "both sears"? Look at the interaction between the trigger bar and the sear. Look for any wear or modified parts. Look closely at the left side of the sear (as it sits in the gun) lower leg. It comes to a flat spot that contacts the trigger bar. If that has been shortened, the sear won't rotate far enough to clear the half cock.
RobertLx
I re-read your original post. The sear is new. Look at the trigger bar where it contacts the sear.
kgil275
Is your stock 2 running a factory plunger spring? A week plunger spring can allow the trigger bar to slip off the disconnector to soon during DA

jpxd
I had a t3 disconnector I hadn't tried yet, so I threw that in and it seems to have fixed the problem. Still have to fit it for the reset to work, but I'll post if that changes anything or if it's still good then.
jpxd
It is a different plunger spring by the way, but it seems pretty strong, will try that is disco fix doesn't holdup.
jpxd
Solved: even after fitting, the new disconnector still fixed the problem
b18prl
Glad to hear you fixed the problem, was going to mention too weak plunger will cause that too.
Torogi
Glad a T3 solved the problem. I'm curious what type of hammer is installed?
jpxd
Stock hammer. I swapped the Titan hammer from my main gun in while troubleshooting, but it made no difference.
