echotango
Found a primer anvil on my bench after I cleaned up. Will I most likely have a dud? Not sure if the primer will ignite without the anvil. Thx

GrumpyOne
Gives you a reason to practice the tap/rack thing, right?

dee loo
Or thinking positively, it could have been from an old primer that was recently deprimed and its better to have a dud than a squib.
Sarge
Or thinking positively, it could have been from an old primer that was recently deprimed and its better to have a dud than a squib.^^ This. echotango
I was hoping for that, but it was unfired((clean and red) and all my spent primer go into a sealed container. Edited December 7, 2015 by echotango
RPatton
It sounds like you made enough practice/local match ammo to last a month or so.

Miranda
welcome to the nervous club. "will this one fire?" you can only do a couple of things find a way to prevent it from happening again. ... any idea how the anvil fell out?... and the other is save that run of ammo for practice. I know I look for anvils when I flip the primers. after that not so much. miranda
Ming the Merciless
Thx. Now I know I will have a dud somewhere in my next 1500 rounds. Do yourself a favor, set all that ammo aside as slow fire accuracy practice ammo and load more match ammo. I tend to load in smaller batches of around 300-400 rounds these days, rather in big marathon batches, for exactly this reason.
echotango
I usually load in batches of 2500 or so. I dropped some primers on the bench and am guessing that is when 1 fell out and I didn't notice. I will just put them aside for practice.
