Hammer1
Has anyone tried using the steel pins with dry media in a case vibrator or tumbler for brass cleaning ?
safeactionjackson
I'd think that would be very loud, nope never tried it and never will. Wet tumbling is the way to go! ~g
zmanktm
I think by the time you filled a vibrator style case cleaner full of steel pins it would be so heavy it would not vibrate much and have little cleaning action.
moonman16
Wet Pins WORK, we don't need to reinvent this wheel.
peterthefish
I think someone tried this - the pins sink to the bottom.

Bkreutz
Sounds like a dandy way to clean SS pins.
slavex
tumbling the pins with brass cleans them just fine, use the magnet pull them from the bottom of the bucket or separator or whatever you use, after rinsing, and they should be sparkly. Even if they rusted a bit, which I've yet to see, a few minutes of hitting cases will polish them right up.
Absocold
Don't by steel pins, buy stainless pins. As long as they don't get hot and steamy for too long they'll never rust.
Steve RA
In a vibratory tumbler the pins sink to the bottom - as mentioned above - and do absolutely nothing for cleaning or polishing.

Absocold
Small industrial version of what we're doing. The batch sizes we normally do are considered "hobbyist" but there are enough of us to make machines tailored and priced for our use. Just how much brass do you need to process? How about this machine? 7 feet tall, 82 cubic feet capacity, 30 horsepower motor. You could buy a lightly used one for about $40,000.

Steve RA
Out of idle curiosity, how much is a unit like the one shown in the video in post #15 ???
Absocold
I couldn't find any manufacturer that makes those (there are quite a few) that listed the price on their website. All say "inquire" which sounds really expensive. Found some well-used models on Ebay, $3-6k a pop.

slavex
can we see that thing run so that it's emptying the cases out? I've seen similar operations with bullets and bolts and such, but never with cases
