dogtired
I gotta say, I love his posts. So I started collecting a few items to put together Atlas Inspired Repeater (AIR). The Donor, a EAA witness in 40 with ports, yuck. Almost free though. I shopped the classifieds and found a SJC major comp which should be decent in appearance, a 9mm barrel (fits perfect, just need to run a few rounds thru it), a little gunsmithing like a threaded barrel extension (the pictured one is off the net). Of course I am working on a slide racker, finding a CZ flat SA trigger and of course mags. The barrel is the unicorn but I should be able to have this one finished on the cheap. The EAA product is $330 retail and still requires threading, that does not qualify as Ghetto. The SJC 11 port comp should offer some ability to "fit" and time the comp with all that extra meat there. Forgive the dirt. Overall it will be passable in appearance. The dot mount will probably be a Cheely 90 degree C-more mount for the CZ unless anyone pipes in with alternatives. At worst it can become a suppressor host if it sucks!
kneelingatlas
Nice work, I can't wait to see it run!
dogtired
The 9mm barrel runs like a champ, if it were not for that fixed front sight I may have just run it like this.
dogtired
In looking at guide rod options, for running major thru this small frame gun, is the Henning recommended?
kneelingatlas
I use a plastic guide rod
shabodah
You shoot Beretta's, too?
dogtired
Next progression, the barrel is back from having a barrel extension added. I screwed the comp on as far as it would go but I need to open up the hole a little. I should be able to time the comp fairly easily by creating a shoulder in there to snug it up to and lose that gap. I could probably shoot it as is to see what the comp does but I will wait. Henning guide rod installed and slide racker needs a little fitting. I have the bug as I bought the next donor TZ75 at an auction...
dogtired
Atlas, you are costing me money... The next donor... The CZ thin grips make it look pretty good, unfortunately I have big hands. Edited October 24, 2015 by dogtired
dogtired
One thing I need, a better drill press... Nothing to be done for the gap, but it is a ghetto build... It did not take much to drill it out, ready for optics. I think I will go to my friends for that install...
Garmil
Looks good. How's it shoot?
dogtired
Waiting to buy then mount the optic, don't want to locktite it just yet.
thermobollocks
Passable in the dark after a few drinks. Fun as hell though. What do you have to do for the optics mount? D&T the frame?
dogtired
Thats the plan. I am looking at the Quinn III 90 mount and a c-more. If I don't spread the purchases out, I get the stink eye from the Mrs.
Garmil
What are you going to do for a big stick?

dogtired
Either try the CZ 25 round mag or use a CZ custom long extension on a SP01 mag.
kneelingatlas
Either try the CZ 25 round mag or use a CZ custom long extension on a SP01 mag. Long extension on an SP01 tube gets 25 with a Grams spring/follower.

waktasz
What rear sight is that?
dogtired
I bought it with a tall LPA sight, ordered a fixed sight from EAA and they sent a low adjustable. It looks bad but allows you to hit the target. I would part with either if you need one.
waktasz
I have a similar gun (Witness steel, although mine is blued) that just arrived today that I have yet to pick up. I know it comes with a fixed sight and I'd like to remedy that problem immediately.
dogtired
Atlas, have you used the CZC follower?
kneelingatlas
Yes, I made a big stick using a 32 round CZ75 ProMag cut to length and a 13 coil CZC spring/follower; holds 28+
Garmil
Atlas for small frame do you reccomend czc springs/followers or grams? Ever tried a pro mag 20 round with a basepad? Not sure if that would be over 170.
kneelingatlas
Yes, the followers are the same for CZ/small frame Tanfo. I don't know about the 20 rounder, but the 32 doesn't use a basepad like we're used to.
