Rhawk6
True, in stock form the Pro is to long,as i found out at the nationals last year. ten minutes with a file and dremel and it fit the next month at the state match. Also had to narrow the safties to make width. cjdaniel78
If the SO or MD is sharp, they'll put you in ESP because you modified the frame. Edited September 15, 2015 by cjdaniel78
himurax13
Vixty, when you weighed your Stock 2, did you do it with an empty magazine inserted? If I remember right, when I weighed a small framed stock 2, it was right around 45 ounces with a magazine and Extreme grips.

chuck s
The dimensions of these gun vary a good bit from gun to gun. I have found the beavertail length to be significantly longer on some guns.
cjdaniel78
Did you change the slide stop on that Lim Pro?
vixty
Himarax, I did have an empty mag in the gun. I was using a plastic recoil rod, and grips. However I was looking at the previous edition of the idpa rule book which didn't have the heavy/cone barrel clause making it illegal. I don't see why they just can't go to only weight. After all, its the shooter, not the gun that wins a match.

Actually, I think a better gun can improve a skilled person's performance. Won't turn a schlub like me into a winner, sadly.
robport
We have some guys in our club running limited pro's too, all in ESP though. I was told (by someone that works on them) that for some reason, the frames can have a significant variance in length, so some will fit and some won't. I find that hard to believe in these days of digital machining, but hey, I assume he knows what he's talking about and it seems to be borne out by the varying stories about fitting in the box. He also told me that he can make it fit quickly. I'm probably going to go that way...as soon as I can get approval from the big boss.

cjdaniel78
Yes. You could grind some off the tang for ESP, but it would no longer be USPSA Production legal.
praetorian97
This isnt rocket science. Guns illegal. Has been and will be if there isnt a rule change.
chuck s
Did you change the slide stop on that Lim Pro? Yes, a hard to find part, but is helpful for some slide lock IDPA reloads
