21 shooter
Has anyone tried Slide Glide for the internals in a revolver?
jhgtyre
I have gooped the insides of my 586 with Slide glide. So far it is working very well. I get lots of comments on how smooth the trigger is. That and loosening the tension on the mainspring strain screw are the only mods I have made. -jhgtyre
benos
It works great - goop 'er up. Be sure to use the #1 though. be
Mario
Brian going on from your recommendation to use #1 what would be the worst thing that would happen if say #3 was used? In particular with a race gun?? Thanks Mario
benos
Mario, I said to use #1 on the internals of a revolver because #3 is a thicker blend of grease (than #1) and will just introduce more resistance in the action, which is you don't want in a revolver. I would only recommend #3 on an Open/auto/race gun if the gun has an EXTREMELY loose top end. Basically, always default to #1, unless you've taken the time to experiment with #3. be
21 shooter
Thanks for the info. The revolver is a 686 with an excellent action job. Wolff spring kit also. I am always looking for something a little better. Will be ordering some shortly.
Rufus The Bum
Slide Glide in the guts of a revolver, I gooped it in my 625 just now and it really smoothed it up. Excellent idear
spook
I'm bumping this to the top again with a new question. Would Slide Glide Lite be a better choice for a revolver than #1?
dajarrel
I'm confused, (as normal) I thought #1 was the lite formula. As for using it in revolvers, I liberally coat the innards of my 610 with what I think is #2 after stoning everything already, it really slicks it up. dj
spook
Thanks DJ, but it seems the answer is on the site itself SG lite it is.
dajarrel
It seems as if I excel at showing my ignorance at times. I really ought to read the instructions a little more often!!!!! So let me straighten up my mess! I use the SG #1 in my revolver with excellent results. I'll have to order some of the 'lite' version to give it a try. dj
spook
LOL, DJ, my reply wasn't meant as a jab towards you SO #1 works too, huh? I'll give 'em both a try.
