Wilfred
Is it possible to use 3N38 for 9major? Anyone have load data for 9major using 3N38? Thanks
Sarge
I think it has been tried. I think the results are that you can't get enough 38 in the case to make major. 37 works in some guns but it fills the 9 up pretty full
Shadyscott999
What Sarg said. I am running 10.8 g in SC with a 121 and the case is close to full.
Desmo412
With a 124 CMJ, I could get enough powder in the case to make a 180PF in a full size open gun. I can't remember how much it took, but the case was full. I was loading to 1.165"
al503
9.3 grains, zero 125 grain JHP at 1.19" OAL got me 169 PF out of a shorty with 4 small poppleholes. You can probably get close to 9.7 to 9.8 grains in the case. It was a compressed load and the powder is near the top of the case but other than having to slow down to keep the powder from slinging out of the case, you'd have to have a very short bbl with holes not to be able to make major. lcs
PITA for 9 major. 650 slings it everywhere. Expensive and wastes powder.
SLM
9.65 under a Zero 115 makes Major with room to spare at the chrono, but not much in the case. Like Larry said, loading it sucks... Been there, done that.
grandbagger
8.5 gr 3n38 Full size open Kkm barrel, 1.165oal Gave me 169-170pf Powder is compressed and pita to load
Jaxshooter
There are certainly much better chioces for 9 major than 3N38. Most of them are also half the price also.
Wilfred
I tried to load earlier and you guys are right about loading it, when the plate turns on my square deal the powder jumps out of the brass. My buddy sold me 4lbs, I guess I'll just swap it with something else.
