Aglifter
The slide goes back fine, most of the way, then drags, smoothly, the last inch. It goes forward without a hitch. Any ideas? I had forgotten to clean under the link for awhile, and just cleaned that up, after it caused some issues. (Doubled, at didn't feed one round.) usp45ss
How many rounds on the gun? New recoil spring? Mine feels the same as you describe but it has less than 200 rounds on it and needs a good break in.
Aglifter
Oh no - I've got ~12,000 rounds through it, and bought it used - think its at about 20,000 - er... I think the recoil spring has about 3,000 rounds on it. Edited January 20, 2013 by Aglifter
usp45ss
And this dragging just started or do you think you just noticed it after the double feed? Traditional or variable power recoil spring?
RangerTrace
Remove the slide and take the barrel and recoil system out. Then place the slide on the frame and move it back and forth. Tell us what it does then....
Aglifter
The slide does drag on its own...
RangerTrace
Well, it time for a visit to Gordon Texas then. If it's a stainless slide and frame, it's possible that you have some gaulling (sp). But, nonetheless, if it's dragging with just the slide/frame you have an issue.
Aglifter
Dang it... Yes, its all stainless...

EkuJustice
Have you checked to make sure the grip screws are tight
Aglifter
First thing I'll do is degrease it - although I don't see that causing the issue - and check the screws, etc.

I had forgotten to clean under the link for awhile, and just cleaned that up, after it caused some issues. (Doubled, at didn't feed one round.) Are you working the slide with the hammer back? The reason I ask is because the last inch is where the bottom of the firing pin stop rides across the top of the hammer and mine has a little drag there as well. Just a thought. Alphamikefoxtrot
I think you are referring to the first inch if that is when the fps is riding on the hammer. Once it has the hammer cocked, it isn't or shouldn't be dragging there. BTW - West, what the hell are you doing with a NEW infinity open gun??? EkuJustice
Loose grip screws can cause both those issues

Thanks, what I was referring to is if the hammer is cocked and you operate the slide, the first 3/4" is free travel before contacting the cocked hammer. Once contact is made, it slightly depresses the hammer a little more as the firing pin stop gently rubs across the hammer for the last 1-3/8" of travel. This occurs on my SV and STI. Wasn't aware this was a problem. It has never affected the function but thanks for the heads up.
hrt4me
Aglifter, were you ever able to diagnose and remedy this issue?
