EricW
Is anybody taking orders or discussing pricing for post-post-ban mags? When I was a kid the damned things were two or three bucks each out of the junk bin in the hardware store. I instead bought slurpees and played video games. What the hell was I thinking... Zak Smith
A dealer on AR15.com is taking orders for Beta-C mags to be delivered shortly after Sept 14th. $240 shipped. -z
EricW
Nice, but not exactly what I was hoping for. I really need decent 30's and would like to buy new ones at a fair price.
Lycanthrope
Eagle firearms is selling LaBelle 30's for $20 a piece with free shipping for orders of 5 or more. I expect them to go down after the ban expires. Regardless, they are excellent quality mags.
rhino
I wonder what supplies will be like during the respite between the sunset and when the next onerous infringement on our rights comes to fruition at the hands of the socialist-statist bastardos who seek to control us. I suspect the fair market value of a proper, mil-spec AR magazine would be about $5, give or take a dollar or two. The problem is that speculators are probably going to scoop them all up, thus increasing prices with an artificial demand. If prices come down to $5 or so, I will buy as many as I can afford. You never know what you and your friends might need in an emergency. I'd also like to snag a couple of reliable 40-rd mags, which should be much easier after the sunset. Maybe someone will be motivated to produce a 100-rd drum that is more rugged and reliable then the Beta-C product since the market will be open. Larry White
R Guns has teflon coated 30s for 25.00( made for Isreal--same as DPMS), Good mags, they are all Benny & I use except fpr the plastic 45s. Be instering to see where the price goes after sept. I have enough surplus that I seldom have enough ammo to fill them all, but ya never know. kimel
I picked up a pile of Royal Ordinance mags from Ammoman.com awhile back. I think it was $79/5 delivered. Not great but not horrible. They currently have LaBelle and others in stock as well. All but one required a wee bit of tweaking to drop free but that was about 10 minutes work with a small hammer (to tighten up the seams on the spot welds front and back) and a bench vise to get the body to the appropriate dimension. I then removed the bases, degreased the interior and hit it with MagSlick. I also added MagPul Ranger bases because I like them...alot. They have thus far run flawlessly in my AR. Several got a dust bath at the IE 3-Gun last weekend and they ran just fine for the rest of the match. Edited August 4, 2004 by kimel
Cactustactical
We do a large business supplying current LEO (high capacity) magazines for both Glocks and AR-15's. Our BATFE contact has issued a verbal opinion that if and when the ban expires, possession and ownership of currently restricted magazines will be legal for anyone as long as they are acquired after the ban expires. This new found legality can be over-ridden by state or local laws, sorry California guys. If a new ban is put into place, the opinion felt that the magazines affected by that would have to have new wording and dates so there would be no confusion with the 94 ban. Our plans, unless the BATFE issues another opinion which conflicts with the above, is to sell our stock at current LEO prices. We will issue a dated receipt to the customer for his use. We aren't starting any lists or taking pre-orders, there is too much possiblity of problems if strange things happen and the ban does not sunset. We have seen no details from any of our suppliers about manufacturers plans to come out with non LEO marked items. No doubt some of the larger companies have plans in the works to get these items in the marketplace, but no one is saying for obvious reasons. Our advice is to not rush out and buy high capacity mags at inflated prices. There will be those who attempt to take advantage of the 10 year pent up demand for this items and overcharge. I would also stay away from pre-order group buys and other such things. Take a look around and see what is being offered and for what price. What you need will be available without paying too much. EricW
Cactus, Do you advertise AR mags on your site? I'm looking, but clueless to find any there.
davidwiz
It seems like TopGlock.com is taking advantage of people - they are taking "pre orders" for hi-cap mags from various manufactures if the ban expires. Get a load of their prices - $27.95 for a 30rnd USGI AR mag!!! Heck, you can get a new pre-ban USGI AR mag for about $20 today!
Cactustactical
Eric, we do not sell AR mags via the web site due to the variety of mags available at gun shows, etc. We sell our restricted ones to police departments and to individual officers during client visits. If the ban does sunset, we would put up a page listing the varieties we have, current Colt and Bushmaster, so that they could be purchased by anyone. EricW
I hate to be persnickety, but could we please refrain from AWB sunset political debates except in threads specifically started for such....which - in general - should be done at www.awbansunset.org. EricW
Cactus..., I meant the political/virtues/whether it will happen part of the AWB stuff. We've had a least a dozen threads speculating on it. You missed a couple posts in that vein that I deleted. I just wanted to know where to buy the mags and if anybody had started making plans to sell them and at what price. (I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's wondering. Lots o' potential customers. ) We can worry about the politics of the thing somewhere else. Sorry for the confusion.
PacMan
I am not convinced that AR 30 rounders are going to get much cheaper than what LEO are paying now, somewhere around $15-20, so the current pricing of Labelles NIW for $20 a pop is good enough for me. I have already purchased some and stashed them away in the back of the safe If they ever get down to $5 each, then it would be time to buy them by the case! BTW, these new Labelle and DPMS/Labelle mags are very, very nice.

I have green followers for my 30 round mags, but they have yet to burp with the standard configuration so they wait in reserve.
davidwiz
Are the DPMS/LaBelle mags the one w/ the unmarked floorplate and black finish? I fell into a couple of them a few years ago and they work great.

I fell into a couple of them a few years ago and they work great. No, these are marked with DPMS name. Nice black teflon finish, slicker than snot. BTW, there seemed to be a price war over at AR15.com, just seen two of the regular dealers there selling these mags 10 for $175 shipped
