  1. I've had a piece of the firing pin return spring come off and jam the pin like that. No idea how you could have bent the pin though. Can you measure your firing pin hole?
  2. I dry fire on the treadmill a lot. There are a lot of lessons to be learned from that.
  3. We used to get a bit crazy with the local IDPA shoot, but ideas still apply....... Werewolves anyone? Headshots on "zombies" with ripped T-shirts as dressing........You had to retrieve your car keys to escape..... That fake spiderwebbing you find this time of year makes a nice partial vision barrier and withstands bullets like a champ. We also tied some toy axes to swingers and had them attack "no shoot" targets......... Yeah, we had way too much time on our hands......
  4. Titegroup......'cause it's cheap and works well. Low M in Limited and L-10.
  5. No. But we will post their match info at www.castlewoodpistol.com when it becomes available.
  6. Please.....try some Wolf Match target. It's not like Wolf centerfire ammo.
  7. The 452 are amazing guns. Last year we had informal rimfire shoot in the winter at my club. There were 2 CZ452's present. This year there are at least 10 people who sold their previous guns and bought a CZ. The $14 trigger kit from Eric Brooks is worth every penny. CZ 452 .com Almost all of them love Wolf MT for ammo. 5 shots at 50 yards.
  8. My STI is about 45oz (unloaded) with Tungsten sleeved barrel and guiderod. From B class to LOW M........ where I am now, the extra weight mattered a lot in terms of a flat shooting gun where I could follow the front sight easily. At my current skill level I am looking for a faster handling gun in terms of transitions. Flip isn't such a big deal since I have the calm and patience to know that to look for (mostly). My focus is now on repeatable recoil versus flat recoil. What seems to matter is tailoring the gun in weight to where you can track the front sight. Slow the gun down to where you can see it or speed up your sight to see a faster gun. 6 to one......half dozen to the other........ Just figure out a way to see it.
  9. I have to shave with the way the hair grows..........closer isn't always better....at least not in certain spots. The experience varies for everyone. I suppose we're talking about doing it "right"....which equates to what "works".
  10. Mid flat brought me from A to Master and I never thought of looking back. If it feels right, use it.
  11. The A-Merc death jam........ ...and she's faking. OK, so I throw out A-Merc brass these days. ...and I don't care if she's faking.
  12. When I order another beer I always say "Reload"!
  13. After running the afternoon squads on the Iron Man, I found new places to be sore this morning. I had to turn on some serious juice to beat some of you on the 50 yards back to the shotgun. Next year, I'll skip lunch! Lycan/Jeff
  14. I use the Dawson .090 with the .040 inserts. I've used red, green, yellow and orange fiber and find red is easiest to track for me. If you want a larger dot you can mushroom the fiber out to the entire sight width with a small torch style lighter.
  15. I suffered with that for two years. Hurt myself running on poor shoes. Physical therapy, religious stretching, electrostimulation..... nothing worked. Then....I bought a pair of these: http://www.gifts.com/products/Dicks-Sporti...my-vert-web-top Within a month the pain was gone. Stopped wearing them and it came back. I bought four pairs and I haven't had pain in almost two years. Who knows....it may work for you.
  16. Because some people like a squared radius on the bottom like the EGW. The STI has a large bevel.
  17. I've been using Hornady One Shot. A light lube used for cases and works well on mags and mag springs without collecting debris.
  18. Some of the best guns in the world are on this board. They may shoot well across all platforms. But....the sustainability of SS is resting upon the opinions of the general masses and new shooters. I'll be the first to admit that I'd love to shoot SS in Area 8, but I don't.... due to not having an accurate classification (IMHO). I shoot 1-2 matches a month due to time constraints and I'm still trying to work my way into M class in Limited and L-10 (it looks like I may make it when the next round of Classifiers are submitted for L-10). Shooting Lim and L-10 with the widebody gives me a good assessment of where I stand in the Classification system. For me, part of every match is seeing improvements that are measurable in terms of the masses. Many of us base goals on class ranking. I see SS as a whole different ball game for myself in terms of match performance. For me, SS success is all about the reload. With mag positions different from L-10 and reloads being a whole lot harder to hit than a 2011 with an ICE magwell (which virtually suck a mag in from across the room) I am not performing on match day with a SS the same as I do shooting L-10 with my widebody. In general, I don't think I own my class in SS.
  19. I've found it far preferable to be a smart-a$$, than a dumb-a$$ on most occasions....... Now....if I could just get rid of the a$$ part.
