hartzpad
Just had some work done on my Spartan 9mm. Needed a longer trigger reach so I got a Caspian Trik long trigger to replace the stock plastic trigger, had it resprung and worked on by a local gunsmith. Pull feels to be 2.5-3 lbs and very crisp. Added some wider grips and some grip tape, feels great. I think I'll add a small magwell and replace the plastic MSH with a checkered steel version. This gun is very tight and accurate, has about 800 rounds through it and 0 malfunctions. Love it. Can anyone recommend a good magwell/main spring housing to look at? furyalecto
Smith & Alexander takes care of both with one product. Dawson Ice for 1911 will as well. You may need to change magazine basepads with the Ice. There is a lot of information on the Ice here. There are several others out there as well. rmerritt
My wife won a spartan .45 at the Utah state uspsa match last Dec. awsome gun, some work was done on it, by a local 14yr old, in St George. and he really did a great job. Ray
ntphd
Dawson Ice and Techwell magwells are both treated very positively by a lot of shooters on this forum. I have a Dawson on my Kimber, and absolutely love it. The caveat about base pads, however, is very accurate. For single stack mags, you would need to make sure that the base pad is long enough for you to seat mags comfortably and quickly. Also, with the Dawson product, you need to decide whether to go with the "gap" or "no gap" plastic insert. I really like the no gap version, but I shoot 10 round 45 mags, so the adjustments I have to make to the base pads are pretty minimal. Good luck and have fun! EkuJustice
went with the dawson gap here from the techwell so i can use the slim grips for a more boxy feel. I went with the gap as I dont want to replace basepads to have go gap showing
hartzpad
Guys, I'm using Tripp 9mm mags like this: What mag well do you recommend to work with these base pads?
EkuJustice
if you call dawson, they have mag basepads that are made for magwells. I run them in the dawson and they sit pretty much flush as pictured
furyalecto
The Smith & Alexander will work with those basepads. It pretty much works with almost everything. I can't say on the others. I don't have that magazine/gun.
Paul-the new guy
I use those exact same Tripp magazines. They rock! They work very well with the tech well mag well and grip combo that I run.
