shooterbenedetto
Most of us that are going to World Shoot will be going for the first time. Can someone give tips and information on what to expect? Greatly appreciated. Ex: strict RO's, You make take only 1 target sight picture (if allowed?) will you be allowed on the range to scope the stage so that I maybe better be prepared in case I'm the first shooter in the squad. Etc..
Loki999
Hi, thats correct only one sightpicture. walktru with your squad probaly 3 minutes for every stage, and induvidual walktru, if the shooter before you is done.
Braxton1
For the next little while, I would LIVE in the IPSC rulebook (as opposed to the USPSA one). There are some differences....
shred
Its very unlikely you'll be allowed to walk the stages (there is usually a do-not-cross tape line) until the squad walkthrough (which will be too short), so watch as many of the tricky ones as you can. You will shoot in IROA shooting order. The ROs are mostly very good, but very by-the-book. Don't be trying to game the start position (or the rest of the stage) and pay extra attention to taking any non-shooting steps with your finger anywhere near the trigger. Several US shooters got bounced for that in Ecuador. If you do get into trouble, call for your team captain (Amidon I think) right away. Squads get in line to walk through the stages one at a time. Avoid cutting the line or bogarting a position. Live the IPSC rules and go read through the IPSC forum as well to see what the big issues of the day are. It will be like nothing else and, if you let it and roll with the changes, will be a ton of fun.
shred
oh yeah, the Opening Ceremony is an event in it's own right-- athletes marching around, speeches and all. Wear your USA World Shoot shirt (& jeans was the outfit the last few times) to that so you can be in the parade.
shooterbenedetto
Does anyone know if Greece runs 110v? just want to know if I should bring my laptop. Wife is also asking if she should bring blowdryer etc..
jar
Greece, like the rest of europe, is 220. Check your laptop charger, many of them these days are multi-voltage supplies. You might be able to get by with just a new input cable or plug adapter.
lowlands
Check your adapters and chargers, most are 110/220 these days. Bring a small US powerbar so you only need one powerplug converter. Hotel rooms are usually really low on power outlets to begin with.

Hotel rooms are usually really low on power outlets to begin with. Be a bit careful here: I once plugged a US power strip with a transient suppressor into a power converter and into the 220V in Prague. The suppressor blew when it was hooked to the converter with no load in the strip. It blew the 220 circuit main fuse. Finding a guy to change the fuse in a recently converted socialist country can be a challenge .
shred
Bring your extra US shirts to the range on the last day to trade with squadmates and others with cool shirts The people stuck with lame shirts will try to set up a deal earlier in the week
shooterbenedetto
Thanks for all the reply! already set up a shirt exchange with a shooter. Will just buy a converter at best buys. Cant really live without my laptop. My last match today! shot solid and safe..then practiced head shots at different distances with precision shooting with weakhand on head shots and weakhand on swingers. Dint bother the strong hand since I shoot it everytime. Edited September 25, 2011 by shooterbenedetto
