XDM 5.25 Holster

I'm using a 4.5 holster right now. I too would like a dedicated holster that fully envelopes the muzzle. I've spoke to Bladetech twice, my feeling is the more calls they get the more likely we'll see a product. Right now, as far as I know, no one has a purpose-built 5.25 holster available.

I just tried the holster I used for my XD9 Tactical and the XDm 5.25 9mm fits in there nicely. Not a 100% exact fit but close enough. It is a Blade-Tech BTW. The barrel doesn't protude using this holster!

I am using a Safariland 5198 and it is now available. Not sure if the website has been updated but the design is done and in production. I was using the same model for a XD tactical and the 4.5 XDm and both worked fine. SLide and Barrel protruded about .100 in on the 4.5.

The Comp-Tac website is now selling dedicated 5.25 holsters. I ordered a belt holster for my 5.25.

I took the DOH hanger off my Bladetech XDM 4.5 holster (with some muzzle protruding) so I could set it up for IDPA last week. When I put the DOH hanger back on so I can shoot my local USPSA this upcoming weekend, I realized I like the non-DOH setup better. Funny how stuff like that happens. The Comp-Tac setup should be great stuff, it'll be nice to have the proper protection for the frontsight on the 5.25.

My Comp-tac arrived today. I have the belt holster model with 1.5 loops for the 5.25. Construction is quality and the fit is perfect. The muzzle is fully protected and there's plenty of inside clearance for a full grip while still in the holster. I've run this on a CR Speed belt and on a Wilderness Tactical (think IDPA) and both feel great, I do recommend some sticky-back velcro to help the holster hold even tighter to a double belt setup (I do the same with my mag pouches).

It's a very good holster. A few hundred more draws and I'll really be in the groove. Going to a belt holster (vs. a DOH style) has improved my draws by .2 seconds, I really hope every DOH user tries this at some point - I think it could really help some people find more time in their draw..
