My wife is 74 and shoots with the yollow tinted safety glasses and she has said it really helped her seeing both the target and the front sight. Might try some tinted glasses and see if it helps...

Some really good critique in this thread... and I agree very much with BeerBaron's comments. I think in an effort to eliminate the 'triples' and stop from running the gun dry, try this during practice - Try slowing down a bit and stay focused on the front sight. Right now your focus seemed on getting to the next shooting station, instead on the front sight. Slow down and stay focused on the front sight and let the surrounding be out of focus. When you arrive at the shooting station, the technique should be focus on front sight and bring the pistol up to be in alignment with your target. Practice going slower and I believe you will improve. Save the speed for the match. On the issue of running the gun dry, carry more mags than you need... There's no harm in dropping a mag with a couple of rounds still in it. Focus on preparing for the next target and change your mags on the run. That way when you arrive at the shooting station, the front sight will be your focus instead of 'how many rounds do I have'...? You have all the makings of being a top performer... Practice hard and practice slow until everything becomes automatic. Oh, and thanks for the video... Stay safe out there... TJ

Also dumped Norton years ago... Have had very good luck with TrendMicro PC-Cillin for several years now. It's on both desktops and the laptop. Havn't had any issues with spyware or viruses. And, it's surprisingly light on the system for all the protection provided. Easy to set up and easy to use. I would recomend you take a look at it before you make your decision. Regards, TraderJack

I've tried a couple of "homemade" rests with terrible results. Used a Ransome once and thought it was a waste of time and energy. But many swear by them as the best machine rest. They're a little pricey for my tastes. I'm with .40AET - the top of the shooting bag or a couple of good size sand bags seem to work well for me when sighting in new gear. Good luck.

I too am fond of historical old guns, "soaked with American history". But, did you know that the current holder of the trademark "Springfield Armory" is not the old government Springfield Armory of the past? While I'm sure the firearms from the newer outfit are excellent, don't confuse them with the original. Regards, TraderJack

Hi Steve, just my .02 ... Self portraits are very tricky. Adjusting the lighting can be a real difficult chore if you don't have help or if you're not experienced. It sounds like this picture will be the first impression many customers will have of you. You know the old saw - "you only get one chance to make a first impression". My advice would be to get the photo done professionally. I upgrade my business card every two years. I get three different posed photos on disk - jpeg, tiff and psd files - color and b/w. That's 18 files on a CD for under $80. I;m sure you can find someone close to you who can do a nice job. Regards TraderJack

This test has always intrigued me. In 1981 I was ENTJ In 1992 I was ENTJ 2007 still an ENTJ You'd think I would have changed a little over the years. But no, still as stubborn as ever.

One other culprit that I don't think was mentioned... The actual length of the 10 round mag can create a bind under certain conditions. For instance, with the gun pointed downrange and you twist or rotate the gun to the right(if you're right handed) the mag will begin to slide out. But, if the gun is rotated too far, when there's more of the mag out of the magwell than in it, the mag will tend to bind because it creates a lever/fulrum relationship on the mouth of the magwell. If the mag is well tuned and well fitted it should continue to slide all the way out. If however it has any rough edges or is misshapen, it will tend to bind with this left to right over-rotation. I have found that the easiest way to test for this condition is to try releasing the mag this way, see if it sticks, then try rotating the pistol slightly muzzle up from the wrist and see it the mag drops free. You should know right away if the longer mag is binding because of the fulcrum effect or not. On the left to right rotation the full width of the mag will ride on the magwell. With the slight muzzle up rotation the mag only rides on the spine. Of course this is a lot to think about duriing a tactical reload! Practice! Practice! Practice! Hope this helps. Great thread. Takes me back... quite a ways. 1.The first time I experienced the rush was when at the age of 12, that Halloween, we tried to turn over old man Taylor's outhouse, only to discover that it was staked on one corner. We only rotated it. When the old man heard us and came out with a yell and a blast from his shotgun, we took off scared as hell! - and my buddy Rene fell into the pit! After we heard the old man laughing we returned to an unforgetable scene! 2. My first motorcycle flat track race at 17. OMG was it a gas! 3. Sailing a 39 ft sloop at night in the Atlantic and wondering where the stars went, only to discover that they were being blocked out by an empty freighter doing some 25 knots just off the starboard beam! He was barely 20 ft away and never saw us! 4. Closing my first real estate deal and writing a check for $50,000. Serious pucker factor! 5. Again sailing, woke up to a building squall and experienced the strange sensation of surfing the boat. It was just daybreak and in the grey light we could see the actual size of the waves coming at us from astern. We immediately threw out a sea anchor and tried to slow down but it didn't do much. We had to surf them at an angle to prevent being pitch poled or broached by a breaking wave. This went on for hours! Later we estimated the waves to be close to 60 ft! This is a good idea but the sharpie will streak and make it difficult to see any witness marks. Get some dykum blue from Brownells or any local machine shop and paint them with a generous coat of the blue and insert the mags. That should let you know where the "rubbing" is. When you're finished, The blue will come off with solvent. Or just use a hammer! Fat mags are a PITA! Regards TraderJack
