  1. As a LEO, I can see both sides of this arguement. I would ask any LEO, if when they have been the subject of an internal investigation or criminal investigation if they given thier rights, i know, that in internal investigations you have to talk, or are compelled to through employment and termination, but they have been given their right to counsel as well....however, I would encourage any forum member to try a single ride along to see the difference in application and theory. I am the first one to stand up for civil rights...but also think our founding fathers would puke if they saw the mockery the judicail and law enforcement system has become. Just my cynical point of view. pat
  2. I hear USSA might have a decent competition class going on. pat

    Sevigny LOADS?

As a law enforcement officer it has been impossible to hae ammo delivered on time in bulk. We went through the bid process with Atlanta Arms. Hands down awesome in all calibers, for practice ammo. We have 90,000 rounds of AA Ammo in 147 and it has been flawless. They were able to deliver 380,000 rounds in less than 6 weeks. I cant say enough about Danny or the company. pat
  4. Pat, The person I spoke with today at S&W said the L was currently available and the Pro was scheduled for release in March or April. Hope that helps. Adam Adam, Thanks so much that does help a lot. Anyone have the L version yet, or know a distrubutor in the know as to where to get one. pat
  5. Any luck on release dates? Pat
  6. Anyone know who makes a "cyclone" type mag release for Caspian. thanks Pat

  8. How NOT to hold a revolver! A St. Louis, Missouri guy on my AR-15 forum had a bad accident with his S&W 460XVR Magnum yesterday. He was shooting with a two handed hold and got his left thumb up near the lower front of the cylinder. The normal (powerful) gasses blowing out at the barrel/cylinder gap ripped the top of his left thumb off. I've added some of his posts & some pics. S&W 460XVR Magnum 460XVR blew my thumb off today! No joke, about 1/2 of my left thumb is gone ... what's left is a friggin mess. It's pretty hard to type, and I'm only posting because you never know, it might save somebody else a thumb. I was using a 2-handed grip, fired off a Cor-Bon DPX .460 and the blast came violently out the side of the gun. At first my thumb was so covered in blood that I couldn't see how bad it was ... and I was full of adrenaline and felt no pain. And honestly it looked really bad, my whole hand was covered in blood and it was kinda gushing. The blown-off thumb was on my support hand. I'll re-create the grip tomorrow to see where my thumb was, but it's not like I didn't already know not to get any body part near the cylinder gap. And even if I totally screwed up and did, taking my thumb clean off seems a bit excessive? Just be careful with those 460's. That case operates at such high pressure, it's just asking for trouble. BTW, I bought my 460 new and had exactly 12 rounds through it. Info about the gun, it's a full-size 460 with the 8 3/4' barrel and factory installed compensator. It's one of the Whitetails Unlimited models. Ammo was 200gr Cor-Bon DPX. The gun only had 12 or 13 rounds of the Cor-Bon through it, and 10 .45 Long Colt rounds through it. So it was essentially still brand new. Saw a hand specialist while there today. Lots of ways to try and save what's left, but first I just have to hope it doesn't get infected in the next few days ... then surgery early next week. The hand specialist I spent a few hours with last night said that in gunshot wounds there is always a lot more damage than is first visible ... same with things like fireworks going off in your hand. A lot more flesh around the wound is dead, and will rot and fall off over the next couple days. That's why it's so important to keep clean, and that's also why they can't do surgery now. If they wrapped new skin over dead skin it would just puss out, possibly turn gang-green, and they'd have to start all over again. This is an example of how he was holding his revolver. Wrong, wrong, wrong! This is what's left of his thumb. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How NOT to hold a revolver! 16. Really happy with all the responses. All this information is going to be used to put together an Active Shooter Response Shooting Curriculum. Gonna try to make it seperate from the actual response portion. Really want to push the envelope on the capabilties and abilities of "most" LEO. With the challenge comes knowledge and growth. Thanks again. Pat
  17. For any LEO out there and those of you have had a influence on training them, what would you like to see in a 2 day curriculum for Shooting techniques involved in Active shooter scenarios. All active shooter curriculums that I know of have dealt with response, staffing, staging areas, movment, etc, but no actual time on the range working with these techniques in live fire (Simmunitions is limited on shooting skills). What do you guys and gals think of a individual and specific course centered around high performance shooting skills for LEO and Active shooters. What kind of skills would you as interested shooters like to incorporate? This would be primarily centered around a rifle and handgun skills. Please keep in mind I am not bashing LEO's as shooters, as I am one, but looking for a way to advance the knowledge base for us to deal with this growing and on going trend. I have been asked by my Chief to incorporate a 16 - 20 hour block of live fire drills, to incorporate with our Active Shooter Training, which is 16 hours already with class room and force on force. I have been working on this for about the last 9 months informally. I have been able to train with: Bennie Cooley, Todd Jarrett, Rob Leatham, Ron Avery,Matt Mink, Mike Seeklander. Each has very unique base of information and knowledge to pass on, as do all of you. I am interested in what you guys think as well. Thanks a million in advance. pat
  18. Talked to rrep from S & W about the safety. He says it is for military pistols. They are going tosubmit them for trials. Part of militray requirement I guess. Was kinda cool looking and functional though. pat
  19. Even better when you stand on it and see all the target systems in place...it's like Jurrasic park.."we have spared no expense". Gotta be there to believe it. pat
  20. take a look at the website tacticalathlete.com. There is a program in there for shooters. Jeff Martone is also a top tier instructor for DOE. I have seen this man run a gun, and he is no joke. his program centers around core strength and forarm and grip stability. I have used some of his exercises with him and he and them are unbelievable. for whats is worth...several high level military teams and tactical teams are incorporating kettlebells into programs...very intense..i would say to give them a shot for sure. pat
