  1. While I'm sure to be very controversial.....good point Mike. I also bet the sponsors would prefer better display of the products they are donating for the prize tables.
  2. For competition based rifles....I prefer rifle length or intermediate(not mid) length gas systems on 17 or 18" barrels for the smoothest recoil impulse. I also prefer to run rifle length buffers and stocks. Preferrably the Magpul PRS. and for comps....I choose the SJC Titan. And as for Enidines.....run one if you like but the fellow above hit the nail pretty squarely on the head.
  3. The stuff I shot in the past looked just like the TAP(black but not as shiny). It just came in a white 50 round box marked training.
  4. While I agree with Dave that 4x is plenty for 3 gun.....6x is really nice to have and comes in very handy. But the daytime illuminated reticle is what takes the cake. Why do you think the S&B Short Dot became so popular?
  5. Current production Wolf is not lacquer coated. It has a slick polymer coating on it. And the Hornady has a black chrome type finish on their steel cases and they use there top quality Hornady 55fmj projectile. and it is not steel cored.
  6. If NF could or would make a true 1x-6x variable with a good daytime illuminated reticle, and priced it under $1500. The military,LE and 3 gun world would be all over it. What I'd like to see from NF would be a 1-6x variable in about the same size package as their 1-4x24 with adjustable turrets and a reticle that was suited for fast up close shooting and had a stadia tree for quick holdover references and also had knobs to dial. Magnification throw should be from about 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock. And a daytime illumintaed reticle is a must. Erik Lund had designed a circle dot style reticle with a calibrated stadia tree and windage holdoffs. Great fast reticle that allowed precision. Put that reticle in a 6x scope from a reputable optic mfg and it would be heaven for 3 gunners and the military. I think he got USO to etch him a prototype reticle in one of their SN4's and ran it most of this season with great success.
  7. I'd take the Hornady all day long over that Silver Bear. The Hornady is good quality stuff and shoots 1-1.5" or better in most guns.
  8. 1-8 with a daytime illuminated reticle would be the cats behind Do your thang.
  9. Yep.....plenty of variables to 10x scopes too.
  10. They are not reverse engineering a March, but one such company has been working on a 1.5-10 that MIGHT get released at SHOT 2010. But that company is missing the mark with a 1.5. We need a true 1x. 1.5 might as well be a 3
  11. Clip about 6 coils off the spring and it should work. I believe the spring is binding up and not absorbing inside the follower. Clipping six coils makes the gun much easier to load while still being reliable too. Also.....you may want to run the Nordic mag spring as it is just a bit smaller in diameter and also made of chrome silicon which will last longer. I believe the factory spring is made of piano wire. Install the Nordic spring with 8-10" sticking out past the end of the tube.
  12. Cool.....I always like new comps to try out. Looks like 2 more I can get my hands on. I have a comp addiction.
  13. Brownells sells them. Get the gate for the SX2. Its the sasme.
  14. Daniel and Robby told me at A6 they are running the 125 Nosler Ballistic Tip to about 2625 in the necked up Lapua 6.5 Grendel case. They had also said they were trying some experimental powders not available off the shelf. Here is a pic of a round Robby gave me at A6 on the right and one of my 6.5 rounds with a 129grain bullet on the left.
  15. Congrats man!!! Welcome to the club. I just joined a little under 3 months ago. I had a little girl and we named her Kendall Reece Litt. I never saw myself being a father but couldn't imagine life without her now.
  16. Without a doubt....call Benny first. When you bought from him....you paid for his expertise. Get your moneys worth. Benny is always willing to help from my experience. I know a dozen guys he has helped and they didnt even buy guns from him.
  17. My D-Terminator went belly up a few weeks ago and was out of warranty so I emailed Brian to get the warranty info for CED. I didn't have the money to spend on another D-Term so I picked up one of his other scales while my D-Term was in transit to CED. I am more than pleased with my small pocket scale and actually prefer it to my D-Term. It stays calibrated and registers very fast and maintains excellent accuracy every time I turn it on. things my d-term didn't necessarily do all the time. It is batt powered but appears to conserve power well. It is also packed with many other features. CED did fix my D-Term for $60. I have it back now but continue to use the small pocket scale. I must say I am thoroughly impressed with it for what it cost.
  18. . Is there experience as to what is "unrealistic"? How close does it have to be? Dunno how to define "unrealistic" - though "not humanly possible" comes to mind (still, why set boundries for ourselves?). A scorekeeper writing down an incorrect time or a timer not picking up shots could easily lead to "unrealistic" scores. Its a hard call to make. But in this case....the shooter acknowledged that it was a mistake when it was brought up to him. This score was not the concern of just one person but about a dozen that had noticed it and brought it up. But to answer your question...my take on it is this. With knowledge of a shooters ability and based on other comparable stage performances.....does the time flow with or seem possible by the competitor or others of a much higher rank in other divisions. That starts to raise question and lean towards unrealistic in my book.
  19. I think 9.7.5 is pretty clear if there is NO time recorded. Is there experience as to what is "unrealistic"? How close does it have to be? Lee I'm sorry...I was typing fast as I was on the way to the match and it should have said "time of day". But we did end up rectifying under 9.7.4 and the competitor reshot the stage. There was mutual consent from the competitor and the signatory RO as to the score most likely being recorded incorrectly.
  20. Those were my thoughts but not the same thoughts of some NROI instructors. I was kinda hoping to hear about a past instance as sort of a case law type leg to stand on.
  21. I know the rule book says I have 1 hour after the score sheet is signed to arbitrate another shooters score as "unrealistic".Or basically just any arbitration. But are there any other circumstances that would allow me to do so? Because how would I know the other shooter's score until after the interims for the day were posted? Heres another question. What if the score sheet does not have a time on it? From what I'm seeing....the only way to arb such would be to decide within that hour that the shooter had an inaccurate score at the time. I would pretty much have to be on the same squad. So if the shooter truly did have an unrealistic time....the other competitors have been severly robbed of points unless they happened to be squadded together and made the arb within the hour.
  22. I'm thinking that Kurt and Trapr and the expertise and experience they bring to the game....maybe its time someone put together a real governed muligun sanctioning body like USPSA has done. It would take alot of blood, sweat, tears and metric tons of homebrew but it may be worth considering. Then Kurt could become President and use income from the membership to travel the country and shoot matches on the memberships dime like that other President.
