  1. Want2race, you have some ingenuity, ie. your avatar, you just jump in !! Those are some awsome grips, I know what you mean about the shape. Now are they legal in SS, I dont see why not, and if they are then what about an epoxy build up ?? Would that still be legal ?? I dont see any restrictions on grips in the rulebook ??? Thanks. As for legality, according the Grand Pubah of Single Stack, if it makes weight and fits the box it's legal. Of course, there are those other rules about barrels and slide lightening but for other things like grips, cocking serrations, mag wells etc the rule is always the box and the scale. As it was told to me anyway.
  2. A little 220/400 grit will take care of that.
  3. I found it's not just the overall width, but the shape that matters most for me. Standard grips are pretty round when viewed from the top or bottom. I made mine about the same width, but they are flatter across the width. Add some finger depressions and checkering and now they feel great.
  4. Yep. It's a pain in the butt, but I bought 3/8th's thick Micarta sheet for $9. Enough material to make 3 sets. I used a hacksaw (as if you had to ask) and files mostly. Checkered with a 20LPI file. It's nasty stuff, wear a respirator and use a shop vac. Can't beat $3 for a set of thick grips though.
  5. Mike Watkins at Brownells has listed the specs and instructions before on AR15, in the 1911 section.
  6. The metal rib on the barrel takes the place of the metal in the slide (that has been removed). Overall weight similar, reciprocating weight is less.
  7. I did see them posted on here, it was an older post but that's where I first saw them. I have a short wide frame so I will have to modify the mount a bit. I got two so I could mess around with one, modifing it as needed and if I goof it up I have a spare.
  8. Springfield no longer can find the aluminum extrusions for the mounts so they use the Weigand rail mount. I called Weigand, their mount is pretty close to what I was looking for and for the close out price I have to try it. I bought 2, they have 4 left. $19.95 http://www.jackweigand.com/specials.html
  9. Saul Kirsch was my first source since his pic is all over the CED ads and his mount is what I'm looking for. It's a Rescomp mount, and is no longer available. I will add SA's custom shop to my list of people to call. Thanks.
  10. Thanks. I'll give Shirley a call today. EGW has a nice looking CF mount but I need to see it on a pistol before hitting the go button on $125. It uses two thin rings instead of one large one. That is the one thing I don't like about it. That's 8 steel screws instead of 4 for the aluminum rings.
  11. I'm looking for CPMi's actually. The grams won't work as it's a split ring design, need a two piece for the aimpoints. I may call EGW tomorrow as well.
  12. Looks like I found a Comp XD! WooHoo! Still looking for more mount choices.
  13. How about CPMi? They still making mounts. I can't tell if the website is just a little dated or abandoned. I like two of their mounts, their standard two sided mount and the light weight single sided.
  14. Yep, I didn't make it either. Family time over the holiday weekend. I was dressed and ready to go, range box packed. Instead we are taking our son to Madagascar 2. I'll be at the Wilmore event next weekend though.
  15. The only thing I found on SV's website was for the C-more.
  16. I read that discussion about the barry mount. Don't really care for how it looks. I'm trying to steer clear of the C-more all together.
  17. I've been scouring the net for a used 7moa Aimpoint. EGW has a carbon fiber mount! I love CF! I haven't been able to find one used. I don't even know if the places that list the CompC SM "actually" have them or just haven't removed them from their websites.
  18. I've been looking for an Aimpoint for an open gun project. The only ones I can find have at most 4moa dots. What models are tube shooters using?
  19. Well crap, with all youz shooting round guns who's going to shoot Single Stack? Do I hear a motion to initiate a morning AND afternoon shoot?
  20. Which Aimpoint? After trying to convince myself to get a MRD I keep going back to the tube design.
  21. If counseling doesn't make the pain go away, smoke the ever-loving dog snot out of him. Make him sweat blood! Muscle failure has a certain quality about it that tends to make people remember to NOT be stupid anymore.
