  1. Uh... I am a doofus... Didnt realize the wife was logged in instead of me.
  2. Thank you for the comments. Like most folks, at every match, I try to pick something to work on. Of late, it feels like I haven't been aggressive and so at this match, the point was to attack the stages. That mentality is probably part of the trigger freeze. I remember thinking that I should have been more aggressive across those targets and that probably lead to me pushing, which lead to tightening of the grip which lead to the... Points were satisfactory on the stage at 122. Accuracy on the 4th array was maybe one c (I dont recall). Again thank you for the feedback.
  3. Shot the match with Seth, and this is the only stage we got of me shooting. It is a 26 round course small spaced field course. Turned my feet towards my first array, but you had to face down range. My own thoughts are: 1) Think I am wasting time not shooting going into the first position and standing up to much. 2) Second position little trigger freeze, and probably should have done a bit better with an easy exit. 3) Wasted a couple of steps shooting the third array, which really screwed up my approach on the last array causing me to be afraid of breaking the 180 on the last group of 3 targets which kept me from pushing the accelerator down hard. Shot single stack so thats why you keep hearing reloads. www.offroadmarketing.com/ed.wmv I do wear big boy pants, well, shorts, so give it straight.
  4. Well that is easily solved... by me one
  5. Thanks guys, I had a great time, and the whole squad was a Benos convention. With PAS44, BNorth, Seth, Basman and Bob (his benos name escapes my memory). What a great squad we had. Thanks to the RO's that worked the match and chrono... We gotta go back to Wilmington... As for me, I am living proof that luck does occasionally come through.
  6. Could you point me to where it says this in the rulebook? The only thing I can find, is where it talks about light rails. I found 3.25 inches from the rear of the slide stop pin to the front of the dust cover on Appendix D5, Page 77, note 23. In addition, I think you would have to put that thing on a serious diet to make 43 with a mag. However, YMMV.
  7. Tripp mags do have a toe on the base pad to prevent over insertion. The way we think it is overinsertion is that the slide wont drop after an idpa reload. We were having the same problem with the Wilson mags yesterday as well. Guess we will try the spring and order the alum base pads.
  8. We talked about it (gentle at slide lock), but she is a competitor just like anyone. If I can fix this, absolutely the best way to go. I dont want her to have to worry about well gee, i need to be gentle right now, but i can go fast tomorrow.
  9. My wife's gun is having issues with what appears to be overinsertion of magazines on Slide lock reloads (multi use gun, IPDA/USPSA). Mag's are Tripp's, gun is a spartan with S&A magwell. First thought is replace mag release spring, and possibly mag base plate. Am I on the right track? Am I missing something? Thanks Ed
  10. Seth my good friend... First of all, 25# is not 30... Second, no happy ending, Tracy made the appointment. Third, Other than talent, speed, marksmanship, experience, intangibles, TGO aint got nothing for me.
  11. 28 days!!! woo hooo! I am getting jacked. Like being a kid again. Focus that energy. Supposed to be nice weather all weekend and was going to shoot Sir Walter in Raleigh on Saturday, and Fredericksburg Sunday (a really nice 350 round weekend), but instead am hooking up with Tommy Thacker Saturday afternoon. We have talked about things we are working on, and it's too late to make wholesale changes, but refinement is always good. Re-reading this and looking for notes, ideas for things to work on. Basic Marksmanship, Exits, entering, PRONE, trigger control, stage breakdown, mental & physical match prep. Sunday will be a true test since TJ is shooting skinny. Last time we shot together he was pretty cool and gave me some nice ideas and pointers to think about. The diet is going well, down to 216 from 241 in 10 weeks. Goal was 215 before the nats, but may revise it down some. I may be getting a massage tonight which would help this screaming shoulder.
  12. I bought 10k 150's last week, and tried them this morning. It apparently was a not so good batch of primers. Thanks for all of the tips... especially tuning the tubes, that really was funny.
  13. Dude, glad to hear you are ok. At least this way you can dryfire lieing down starts...
  14. Got some live fire practice in this week (thanks Pigdawg). Working on movement drills, draws, reloads. Draw is a bit disappointing, 1.12 - 1.20 to an A at 12 yards. I need to figure that out quickly. Have some videos and would like some feedback. This video is a little 12 yard or so with paper and steel trying to work on exits, movement and entering a box. Was doing both easy exits and some hard exits. This video is a shot reload shot on a popper. Am I late coming off the gun? I dont see shoulders lifting, am i too far away from my face? Any advice would be appreciated. I have been dry firing and we are 35 days from the nationals. I can't wait. Dry firing has been going well, working with a rope to keep movement in one direction, while shooting in multiple directions.
  15. We use a locking lid (tupper ware type thingy) that holds (5.5 cup) 250 rounds of 45. They work great. Gasketed locking really work well. Probably hold 350 40 and close to 500 9mm The link below has packages, but you can find the 5.5 cup by itself. http://www.shopwiki.com/search/Lock+and+Lo...e+Container+Set
  16. My experience might be different than some. My Concept has 60k down the pipe. Gun is dead nuts smoothe. As to dead on marksmanship, IMO we try to hit an 8 x 13 rectangle, at whatever distance, as efficiently as possible, so 3" at 50 yards is irrelevant. As to parts breaking, 1 broken extractor, and recently replaced the ejector, plunger as a preventative maintenance. Changed some other things but more for my taste than anything else. (Grips, front sight, magwell, etc.) YMMV, but I love that gun. For lubrication, 0-20 synthetic motor oil, as it doesnt like militec oil or grease. It repels the water, stays good in cold or hot, and at $4 a quart, I will never run out. Never tried SG.
  17. To my best friend, lover, companion, shooting partner, reloading buddy and just plain wonder of my life... After 18 years, you amaze me everyday. Thank you honey for being you.
  18. Try PFG (short for performance fishing gear - by Columbia) for shorts. They are a wicking material, fairly durable and they work GREAT with a CR Belt setup. http://www.keyskayakfishing.com/columbia-mens-shorts.html This is a good price at 29. Be careful, your buddies may call them pretty effing gay.
  19. I am pretty good about throwing boxes away. But i will go farther into the primer storage and see if I can find a different lot. Thanks for the tips.
  20. Does HSmith do that or Dawson, or???? Please tell me who tunes them best. Thanks for the humor! Regards, Ed
  21. Thank you for the tip. I cleaned them, and the patches are coming out clean. Should I lube them with some silicone spray or one shot or? Any other ideas?
  22. I am using the green tipped for fed large pistols. Please tell me it is something that simple...
  23. I did search before posting. When I fill my primer tubes, I keep getting jam's. They will take varying amounts usually 25 or so, and are hard to empty into the primer tube. What am I doing wrong? I hold the tube vertically, and probably slowly enough. This is happening to all 5 of the tubes, so clearly it is me. Any ideas?
  24. As a dedicated CDP guy... its the most challenging of the bottom feeder divisions. FYI, I dont think Brazos will do a performance package on a Spartan (we bought one 6 months ago and they wouldnt then). However, YMMV.
