  1. today was my lucky day, i won the Ruger 10-22 that they had for the draw at the IPSC match here at the Eastern Ontario Handgun Club, it made up for the stage screw up
  2. pat you talked about left to right and right to left, on these drills, does it have anything to do if you are left or right handed (eyed?) to be able to see on the open side of the gun? right eye dominant go right to left left eye dominant go left to right or just keep doing it with the timer to know what is best (Edited by grassy knoll at 8:47 pm on Oct. 9, 2002)
  3. my team mate gary did the P-14 to P-16 conversion and it isn't as easy as you think, he got all the parts and put them together but the gun wouldn't run right, he spent another $200 on labour to get everything as good as it was as a P-14 with gun parts, mags, and labour he could have bought the whole P-16 new. and since we are in the peoples republic of kanada we only have 10 round pistol mags
  4. we shot the Quebec provincials last weekend these guys went all out for props, it made the match probably the most fun this year 1 - start position- lying down on a water bed gun on the bedside table 2- start position - sitting at the controls of jet airplane "DQ Airlines" 3- start position sitting on a motorcycle there were others as well - shooting into caves, shooting out of the back window of a car, to see some pictures for yourself http://www.ipscqc.com/photoprov2002.html http://www.cyberus.ca/~kdesolla/qpsa2002.html
  5. i currently load .40 with 4.3 grain Titegroup 1.25 OAL, winchester SPPrimers and 180 grain cast lead bullets if i switch to montana gold 180 grain bullets should i do anything else different? thanks
  6. i just saw a KB at the Quebec provincials on Sunday, Glock 22 may have been a double charge, ammo was being loaded with an RCBS 2000 but a double charge would be hard to come by?? trigger blown out, barrel split, slide bulged and various other little pieces on the ground
  7. these things seem to be catching on fast, what is recommended for .40, 180 gr or 200 gr, i heard you have to freebore the barrel for 200 gr bullets in . 40 for a para-ord what about switching back and forth between lead and montana gold, do you have to scrub the barrel before switching between each one? (i do this with copper jacketed)
  8. for what i have invested in guns, mags, holster, belts, press, etc. etc. i don't like going to a match and having a 10 cent piece of brass screwing up my day consistency is what counts
  9. i was scanning the tv the other night and i came across a movie about some IPSC shooters at the Hong Kong Nationals in 1996, it was in chinese with english subtitles, almost a kung-fu style movie but the guys were IPSC shooters who competed against each other, i came into it halfway through and i had to go before it was over has anybody else seen it and what is it all about?

  11. the hot sand on my arms and legs was bad but not as bad as seeing that the outhouse door had got caught on my holster and failed to fully activate all of the swinger targets
  12. thanks mr seevers and shooter grrrl our squad was 12 guys and even though we were helping patch targets there was a lot of sitting around and waiting, i guess these types of matches would be a marathon and the ones that i am used to are the sprints and the training should be accordingly thanks again
  13. this past weekend was my first ontario provincial championship in barrie, i have been to about 25 other local matches but i had never been to this big of a match, we started shooting at 8:30 am and done at 8:30 pm, i know there are lots of others who have gone through this many times and i want to know what you do to beat the heat, dust and mental fatigue what do you do at matches that go on for a couple of days?
  14. first squib load i just weighed all of the ammo i had and i guess i was just lucky (unlucky?) that the only round that had no powder in it was the first round that got chambered into my gun this morning i remembered as i was sitting at the loading bench what happened last night while i was loading the batch, at one point the shoulder screw which goes through the powder measure roller and holds the powder measure bell crank had loosened off and fell out, i am thinking that at that point i must have passed the round which had no powder on that stroke onto the next stage and seated in a bullet, - this being the round that i chambered this morning - lesson learned about reloading my own ammo - check- check and double check
  15. at least in the USA it is possible to get some shows about the shooting sports, up here in Kanada, TNN, OLN, and ESPN are censored when there are any shows involving firearms, except of course CSI and COPS that show you just how violent the gun-crazy Americans are...
  16. for the record, i have been using it for a few months the first night i had it on the gun at the range i was showing the other guys and they couldn't figure what the heck i was talking about, the said you have to oil guns not grease them - oh well, i don't mind beating them
  17. dogmadog i don't like the PC either - i wanted to register grassy knoll as my IPSC alias for international classification and it was rejected because it brought up too many bad feelings and could be used against the sport so i picked 6th floor and that was ok ??
  18. target size or shape shouldn't really matter as long as the course design is done properly - this was said before but i really agree i also don't want to have target designs be associated with resemblence to people or bad guys or head shots and body shots- i didn't think this used to matter until a guy asked me if the mini poppers were the kids and the regular poppers were the adults
  19. i thought this was just from shooting lead indoors but i too have been using titegroup and it smokes like a locomotive i really got to see it after looking at some video that we took of a match on saturday night my load is at the low end to get 165 pf but i think i will work up to more powder and hopefully get the thorough ignition unless you guys have a better idea?
  20. flex- "why do you say beta? we were drilled bravo, " "private are you some sort of computer geek?"
  21. i bet there is somebody in a nearby apartment wondering where their pet corn snake is, but htey can;t tell anybody because pet snakes aren't allowed
  22. - the international scene, interest in shooting is worldwide, - the list of stuff that works and doesn't work, a new guy can spend a lot of time and money figuring out something BE and TGO figured out in 1988.
