  1. We're starting a hour earlier this year so hopefully we can have things wrapped up by 2:30 or so.
  2. At the Shooters Meeting we'll let the M/GM's that want to participate decide the format (skins?) and squading for the participants. Personally I think it would be neat and fun to have all squaded together using a skins format (but then I ain't no M/GM). See ya'll 6/22. Remember, this is an earlier start than normal - hammer down at 9:00 am not 10:00 am.
  3. Jaime, though it will likely be open squading, I assume the M/GM's would want to group together if they decide to have a pot, especially if it is a SKINS format. As the club treasurer, I'd be willing to hold the pot and distribute it according to what the M/GM's decide - up to you all.
  4. Registration is recommended to ensure yourself a slot but you can sign up the day of the match. Just keep in mind that we will limit the number of shooters on Sunday to about 80 (yes we'd go over a few to acommodate folks but there will have to be a limit). If you email me no later than 8:00pm on Saturday, 6/21, I'll email you back on whether there are still slots available. But even with that, if we have a large number of walk-ups on Sunday morning..... email: treasurer@rivercityshooters.com
  5. Kevin, I submitted 3 stage designs to Wayne Ho, Match Director, that have a Cooper tunnel(s) but don't know yet if he will be selecting one. If there is sufficient interest in a SKINS format for the GM/M's I think I could get the club to sweeten the pot by adding maybe $10 for each stage. That plus whatever the GM/M's decide to throw in could make for some interesting results. In fact, next year we might want to look at a SKINS format for all divisions/classes instead of just a payback for overall finish. GM/M's - I think it is clear by now but just in case...the No Cash Back match is FREE for all GM/M entries so you just need to send in your completed entry form (no money). Then if the GM/M's want to build their purse/format, they will be able to do so in whatever amount they want. Plan was to squad all GM/M's together but now it looks like we will be using an open squading format. The link on the home page to the Summer Shootout has been fixed to only point to the Summer Shootout page. There was an overlay problem that depending on where you clicked you might have been routed to the wrong page. Sorry about that. Get those entry forms in!
  6. Lucas, you may have already resolved this issue since the post is a couple months old but if not... One simple test to isolate the problem would be to insert the slide stop from your older gun (that does what you want) into your new gun. If the problem goes away then you likely have a different slide stop contour on the surface that engages the follower. Either continue to use the old slide stop or contour your new one to a similar shape. If the slide stop switch doesn't make the problem go away then you will have to resort to carfully, and in small increments, modifying the followers of the mags you'll be using in your new gun. Regards
  7. Has MidwayUSA stopped selling them? I have purchased a couple from there over the past two years.
  8. Tom, I don't have the answer to your question but if you haven't already tried, you might check "1911forum.com" and search or post your question there. Lots and lots of info on 1911 gunsmithing that could prove helpful as your build your 1911.
  9. Typically results get posted Tuesday afternoon. With this being a "shoot for the money" match it may be a little longer as I expect there will be additional care/checking to ensure placings are correct. Checks will be mailed out to the winners. Fun match, great people, good weather. Thanks to all for coming!
  10. Neo, I was just scanning the registrations and both yours and Roland's registrations were received and you're in the "big show". It's Saturday noon time and the rain god is still having mercy on us. Tomorrow should be a great fun time.
  11. Loading .40 gives you the option of using either case plate. Anything smaller requires the small case plate and anything larger requires the large case plate.
  12. I am continuing to have two "problems" since the software upgrade last week. 1) The site will not remember me - I have to log in every time I bring my browser up and access the site. 2) I am using AOL with a Dial-up line (yuk) and the response time has easily slowed down ten-fold since the upgrade. It takes forever to display the initial page and follow-on pages. Not sure exactly when it started but was sometime last week. By the way, I am not noticing the response slow down on other sites I access so I assume it has to be something with how my computer is interacting with the new software. Anyone else out there on AOL using Dial-up and if so are you experiencing the same thing???
  13. I hate to call someone that is obviously very busy. An email gives the person a little lattitude to respond when they have the time. I'll save the phone calls for when/if I must have an immediate response. This is a side project and as such can tolerate some wait time. But...., Beven has already answered my email and as suspected, the tubes need to be widened slightly at the top below the feed lips. He strongly recommends not modifying the follower since the specs are tight as to what does/does not work. So it's off to the shop to see what I can come up with to widen the feed lips ever so slightly. Anyone have a proven technique for widening the area below the lips? THANKS to those who responded to my cry fror help. GRINS
  14. I just sent an email off to Beven explaining the problem. When I hear from him, I'll post the result. I don't have a 38 Super to try the mags in so I was assuming the "loose" last round would be a problem. It takes virtually no preassure to insert the round into the mag. I'm surprised you haven't had a problem but it is nice to know that it may work as is. THANKS
  15. Based on your comment about the "smile" on the outter side of the bullet and the angle of the jam, I would look real hard at the Extractor as it sounds like the case may not be getting fully inserted/seated behind it thus causing the bullet to be angled up and out slightly. With the bullet angled out, it is likely hitting the outter edge of the barrel as it is being chambered. Unless you can absolutely determine the cause and make the correction without "surgery", I would contact Bob. We all know he will make it right either over the phone or via return/fix.
  16. YES! I have a number of Chip's mags and they have functioned flawlessly in my singe stacks. Have used 10 rounders in L10 with great results (no problems). The fact that you can buy the 10 rounders from MidwayUSA at a very reasonable price is frosting on the cake.
  17. Well, a search didn't give me an answer so here it goes... Just purchased a couple used STI 170mm 9/38 mags with DP +1 pads. After setting the feedlips for 38 Super Comp (0.365), polishing in/out, and installing new 13 coil Grams internals, the followers are stopping about 150 thousandths below the top of the feed lip. Result is that the last round has minimal to no tension on it. When I shake one mag the round will actually fall out. When I load the mags and then manually eject the rounds the last round comes half or more out when the next to last round is pushed out. The 140mm mags I did (also 9/38 for 38 Super Comp) hold the last round firmly and the follower sits about 80 thousandths below the feed lips. All measurements are on the follower's high side about 5/32" from the back of the mag. I am very reluctant to start filing on the Grams follower without knowing that is the right solution. Anyone had/solved a similar problem? Thanks
  18. Try MidwayUSA. What you want is the Chip McCormick Shooting Star Mags for 38 Super (10 round with or w/o base pad) and the good news is they're only $24.99. I haven't used them for 9mm as I don't shoot a 9mm but several folks swear by them for 9mm.
  19. My son and I, shooting on the same squad, come to a simple stage - 4 paper to the left, 4 steel in front, 4 paper to the right consisting of two arrays of 4 paper and 2 steel each with a mandatory reload between arrays. My son shoots the first array and then the second - no reload. I get a good laugh out of it and tell the RO he is a "Slow Learner". My turn, I shoot the first array and then the second thinking I did great, all Alphas and all steel down. But alas - no reload! The RO looks me in the eye and simply says, "Like Father, Like Son". I try not to laugh at my son's shooting any more.
  20. At that length, I would load below 4.0 of VV320 as a start. If you check the Maas data you'll find a 4.0 of VV320 with a 200 grain bullet with an OAL of 1.125 producing a PF over 181. Heck 4.1 of VV340 at 1.135 OAL is producing PF of 167.4.
  21. The "contraption" is actually made to pick up pecans. A couple companies make them and you can get several different sizes in both push types as well as "pull behinds". You can find them for a couple hundred bucks. We purchased one for our club range and it does help immensely in maintaining the range (limiting brass on the ground). Some use it after a practice session to retrieve their brass relatively easily.
  22. I use Precision 185 and 200 RNF in my SVI w/AET and it's shoots very well. Accuracy is not a problem and I have not detected any unusual wear. You can use Precision bullets in your AET equiped SVI without any concern.
  23. UniqueTech also has a kit that replaces the pins that hold the toolhead in place with a set of screws and threaded inserts. This eliminates any possible variance due to toolhead "looseness". Shims are certainly a cheaper alternative.
  24. Nothing has changed in setup since before problem started. The Slide Lock/Link Pin fit seems to be OK. This gun only has about 2,000 rounds thru it. Don't see any evidence of bullet rubbing on inside of the slide lock. Slide lock is trimmed way back. Gun is SVI HiCap 40 used in limited. My next 2 steps barring a bolt of lightening from someone on the forum is 1) remove the slide stop plunger and cycle a few mags by hand thru the gun to see if at some point the slide lock attempts to move up into slide lock - if it happens, investigate what was transpiring at the time; 2) have another person shoot a few mags to see if problem persists with a different shooter. Question: is there some point in cycling where a slide stop becomes easier to move (resistance reduced)? Since the slide lock is so hard to move up manually, I am finding it hard to belive that the shooter could inadvertantly be causing the problem during live fire. I guess step 3 would be to swap slide locks. I feel I am "shooting" in the dark as nothing seems to make sense as to the cause.
