Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I looks like I am going take a job in Indianapolis, IN. I will be working at Indianapolis International Airport at a FBO. Does anybody know of some reasonably priced decent areas to live within a reasonable driving distance of the airport? I am not familiar with the Indy area and some constructive help would be much appreciated. Oh and I will looking for some clubs to go shooting at.
  2. A M1 Garand I had. I was hard up for money a couple years ago. It was nothing special, just good shooting grade gun I got a good deal on. Now that I'm back on feet I went and asked the person I sold it to if he still had it, he said sold it a couple weeks back. Man, I was dissapointed. Nothing I can do about it now but look for another M1 Garand.
  3. Now I am an Aircraft Mechanic for a regional airline in Ft. Wayne. Before the ecomony went south I was a Tool & die maker for 12 yrs.
  4. has not set their status

  5. Hi Guys, I'm thinking of coming up to the match next weekend. How much is the match fee? Approx. round count? Most important question where is your club located? I'm coming from the Toledo, Ohio area. Thanks, Tom
  6. Hi All, I was able to get 20rds (sometimes 21) in my Para mag tubes. I used the dawson followers, Dawson base pads and factory springs. The mags ran 100% of the time. I did run the tubes in my tumbler to polish them up. Don't know how much it helped, but they did look good. I never had any luck with the Arredondo followers and inserts. I used them once in practice totally unreliable. I promptly threw them away. Good luck Tom
  7. I like Single Stack. It forces you to break down a stage and accurately call your shots. Reloading costs can be kept under control by using LSWC and a little bit of Clays. I am more of a traditionalist, so shooting SS feels like I am going back to our roots.
  8. Hi all, I recieved an e-mail today that, Findlay's first match of 2008 will be this Sunday April 20, 2008. Registration at 9AM shooting starts at 10AM.
  9. For me it will be mostly Single Stack this year with a match or two in Limited. I just built my SS gun and shot it in a match last Sunday, I had a blast . Single stack really makes you focus on your hits and reload points. See ya at the range, Tom
  10. Hi Mike, I have a .40 cal Para. I use the Para 16 rnd mags with Dawson extensions and Dawson magwell. Arrendondo basepads will not work with the Dawson magwell. My Para mags with Dawson base pads will hold 20 reloadable using factory followers and springs. I ran my tubes in the tumbler to polish them up and they drop free at all times now. Good Luck Tom
  11. Carbide would be the best choice, but with proper speeds and feeds HSS will do fine also. Carbide is brittle, so be careful not drop the cutter when removing it from the collet or tool holder. Chipped carbide doesn't cut well. For endmills you will need collets or tool holders. Never use a drill chuck to hold an endmill, they have little holding area compared to collets or tool holders. Drill chucks are also not designed to take the side loads incurred from milling. Hope this helps Tom
  12. I have a Jarrett model that I bought new in Dec. of 06'. It will not run commercial ammo under 180gr. Commercial 180's or higher runs fairly well in it. Handloaded 180gr TC's with a length of at least 1.190" work the best for me. I am using factory mag tubes with factory followers and springs and Dawson base pads. The mags will hold 20rds reliably. I tried Arrendondo followers once, nothing but problems. The only thing changed on the gun was I added an Ed Brown wide ambi safety, and changed the recoil spring to a 12.5# IMSI spring. I have roughly 6,000 rounds through the gun. That is 22 matches plus practice at least 2 or 3 times a month. The gun works good for me. Hope this helps, Tom
  13. Mine came in perfect shape about a week ago. Then yesterday my 18 month old girl found it on the nightstand. A roll of clear packing tape about 1 hour of work might make it usable again.
  14. I use a 200gr. LSWC with 4.2gr of clays. Big difference over 230gr. factory hardball.
  15. Hi All, A Tool & Die Maker for past 10yrs. I keep applying for that lottery job but never get any response.
