  1. GIShooter hit it on the head. Get a G17 used (around $350 from Summit Gun Broker), sights for $65-80, and then finish it off with your own skate board tape and a Glockworx spring kit/3.5 lb Connector.
  2. I've had several trigger return springs break. I've also broken one slide stop and two of the competition rear sights from Angus. I've also had a extractor lose its edge. I'd have prepped backups of each.
  3. I swapped out the sevigny's for dawson/heinie style rear because the sevigny was too wide for me to get accurate shots with a thin front sight (.90).
  4. So I have another question? I have a Sig P6 that has a steel upper with aluminum lower. Does Ionbond do Hard Anodizing and if not, how would I know if the gun has a hard anodized lower???
  5. Anyone with experience on the Sig? I'd be curious as I picked up a used P6 recently and it could use some massaging.
  6. The CZ's are very appealing. The triggers are great and the grip feels very nice. Having shot one for a long time, I've gone back to a glock 34. The reliability and ease of maintenance on the Glock makes it the better choice for me. I can over come a little bit heavier and squishy glock trigger easier than a malfunction at the wrong moment!
  7. Good to know. Scott, what parts do you recommend sending for coating on a 1911?
  8. I'm looking to send a 1911 off to Ion Bond for refinishing. I've heard different opinions on what should be Ion Bonded and what shouldn't. I'm thinking the slide, frame, safeties, mag release, and slide stop. I've been told NOT to coat the trigger parts. As for the barrel, a friend said he had the barrel done and it started to negatively affect his groups. Has anyone experienced this? I'd prefer to coat as much of the gun as possible. Thanks!

    SP01 SHADOW 5 inches

What is the SP01 DK?? A new 5" SHADOW? Can you post pics (maybe i'm confused!)
  10. You just can't beat this match! There is a reason it has nearly doubled in size each year. I know I'll be back. Thanks to all those that worked hard to put it together!!
  11. I've got a CZ75 with a production perfect trigger for sale. If you want an even nicer gun for production, I'd go with an SP-01 (got one for sale too, PM me or take a look at my add).
  12. Production is definitely gaining ground! Check the other area matches around the country and it's becoming one of the tougher divisions.
  13. Check out Steve Anderson's dry fire books as a start to develop a DF regimen. If you're on the road take the heater and dry fire with some airsoft targets (downsized from standard size). A consistent and focused DF program alone can put you in competition with those masters quickly. Spend 45min to an hour and really focus on quality reps. Take the time to evaluate all the mechanical details and be open to try new things. Make sure that everything you try is tested against a timer. Make sure that when you dry fire you are forcing yourself to make "good hits". When you can go to the range, focus on accuracy to start and teach yourself what A hits look like on every target at any distance. The dry fire will develop your mechanics and the range time will teach you to call your shots. If you do it right, it won't take long! Good luck!
  14. Got the last room at the Best Western Cotton Tree... I was an hour away from sleeping in the truck! I can't wait for the match.
  15. I don't know if its still up on the website, but BBI announced a slight delay due to the Single Stack Nats. Not only do they provide excellent bullets, they run a LOT of major matches. Give them some time and you won't be dissapointed, the turn around is usually very fast!!
  16. Phil~ It was nice chatting with you at the Glock Match. As you make the transition from A class to Master, you'll learn that the easiest part of the game is developing the physical gun manipulation skills. Once you learn how to do a sub-second draw or reload you realize that the trick isn't to be able to do those things, its to be able to repeatably do them under the pressure of a match! That is the challenge and one that requires more than just dryfire/airsoft. The rumbling you talk about effects people at all stages in their development. As Xre mentioned it comes from fear of success/failure. Nothing was so frustrating as getting a Master card and then realizing that with it comes the expectation of shooting at that level! No one wants to be the guy who gets beat by a ton of guys "classed" below them! That's just one way that success brings with it new challenges. I could be wrong but my sense is that you tend to compare yourself a great deal to other shooters and strive to beat people. That is by no means a bad thing, I'm the same way! I remember seeing Dave Sevigny at the MO Fall Classic in 2006 and thinking, "I want to beat HIM!". I've come to learn that such a view can be helpful or detrimental depending on how its fostered. It's thoughts like that (comparisons) that can serve as an excellent tool to motivate you in your practice or induce stress in a practice environment. That's the ONLY place those thoughts should be employed, because thinking that way in a match can ruin performance(again I know from experience). The key in a match is to look back at your practice and realize that you'll shoot as good as you've practiced and have the confidence to know that IT IS GOOD ENOUGH.
  17. Great match! I missed last year because I didn't get signed up in time and vowed it wouldn't happen again. Thanks for the kind words Chuck. Congrats to you on the Open and Overall wins! I was glad to see so many top tier shooters made the trip out. For those that couldn't make it put it on the calendar for next year!
  18. Just to throw another name in the mix, check out Powder River Precision. He's got some awesome XD trigger jobs and parts for the XD.
  19. Check out Powder River Precision for a really great trigger on the XDM. Shot one of his XDM's a while back and the trigger was creep free 2lbs.
  20. I have thought about that before but that would be a $800 project. Rock Islands are not as cheap as they used to be. Then I would have to get a barrel, beavertail, sights, hammers, etc. It would be nice to get a $400 out-the-door-ready-to-go 9mm. No kidding! Looks like Taurus has their 1911 available in 9mm... I just haven't seen anywhere they are available.
  21. I get what everyone has said, I know that the vial of trit. requires a decent width. I thought I read a thread a while back where someone mentioned a company that was making .100 width trit. night sights. That would be ideal. I struggle to transfer from a .90 black on my comp guns to a big fat .125 tritium on my carry/duty guns. Rich could you pm me a cost for a front sight around .100 set up with a tritium? Thanks!
  22. Ok, I thought someone asked this a while back, but for the life of me I can't find the answers anywhere. I'm looking for a company or person that sells/makes a trijicon style front sight that is thinner than the typical .125. Ideally I'd prefer it to be closer to .090, but I know that is a bit much. If anyone can point me in the right direction (or the right thread) I'd greatly appreciate it. By the way, I'm looking for a novak cut. Thanks!
  23. Another great fitness site that is crossfit-esque but has some crazy workouts is www.gymjones.com. He did the training for a lot of the guys on "300".
  24. Of all the matches I shot (Area 1,3, Nats, etc.) the best and most enjoyable was the USSA ProAm. The stages where ALL fun, the competition was great. All the pros are there. You can shoot the match twice (open/limited). Oh, and the prize table was awesome!! Defintely a MUST.
