  1. Sheath the walls with 1/2" plywood or some sort of metal mesh if they are just standard sheetrock. Easiest way into a locked room with a good door is to just smash through the sheetrock between the wall studs
  2. Correct! My C-More topped .38super open gun is sighted so it's dead-on at 40-50 yards. This requires a top of target hold for an A in the upper A/B at under about 15 yards, just under that to 25 and dead on after that. My J-Point topped open gun has the same sight/bore relationship as iron sights so it gets a 12-15 yard sight-in. I prefer this, but have no problem with the 50 yard C-More sight-in mode either. I really don't think about it when I shoot, it's just as easy either way. Doing the "Find The Dot" wrist dance is the only thing I dislike about the C-More. Presentation consistency is everything with a C-More
  3. I think Neil is onto something Trapr. It's been a long time, but I remember timing myself hand loading the USAS-12 ten round box mags way back in the early nineties at just under 15 seconds for 10 rounds with ammo laid out properly on a table in front of me. 1.25 seconds a round puts the box mags at a huge disadvantage compared to the tube-feeders who can load a round in under a second easily. In fact, considering some folks can do it as fast as 1/2 second a round, the no more than four in a mag (maybe even 3) thing, sounds like a better tube-feeders equalizer to me.
  4. Correct, BC means little to nothing in pistols shooting at under 50-75 yards. For those folks shooting metallic silhouette pistol competition at beyond 100 yards with high powered cartridges (.357, .44, etc..), it matters a lot. Higher BC means less velocity slew-off. This means flatter shooting AND more downrange punch left. For example, wad-cutter bullet profiles are as accurate as anything at 50 yards, but they slew V and fall from the sky pretty quickly after 100 yards. A boat-tail base and slim nose profile is the hot-ticket to fly well at distance. Long slim boat-tail projectiles are not the most accurate at shorter distances as they are still hunting around a bit and usually produce tighter groups at 150yds plus than they do at 100yds and under while they are still stabilizing.
  5. Smoothness of press operation, as well as solidly anchoring the bench, play a significant role in turning out consistent, uniform rounds.... YES! If the press isn't stroked properly (read smoothly and consistently here), lots of things can be a tad variable I kinda' forgot about that possibility, Good one Nik :-)
  6. Those ought to exhibit good uniformity. Measure 20-30 of them to see if there are any variances there. If they are all under a couple thousandths then your flyers have some other reason. Were the ones that were out of the 1.31-1.37 range in different brand/type brass? Is the case neck tension different on these flyer rounds? This can effect seating depth and is usually caused by differing inside case mouth diameters. Sometimes a sizing issue, sometimes a brass thickness issue. Was there, is there a different feel from the sizing die on any cases? A loose/tight case in the sizing operation compared to the rest can indicate a case difference of some sort. I like to discard cases that exhibit noticeable difference in force needed to run through sizing die. Uniformity everywhere is more important than perfection anywhere in turning out a consistent product.
  7. The 1.31 to 1.37 range seems OK. The 1.2 sumthins seem like they are indeed seating depth flyers. I like seating dies that use the ogive to push rather than the bullet tip. Is the bullet type a RN FMJ or a HP? RN should have a fairly tight range of OAL (few thou), HP profiles can vary a lot because of the way the tip is manufactured. Measuring from a point on the ogive of the bullet using a comparator is a better way to compare round to round variance than measuring base to tip due to manufacturing issues. A comparator is the only real way to get a extremely accurate read on bullet OAL, or to be more exact, the consistency of seating depth you are actually getting. http://www.sinclairintl.com/cgi-bin/catego...&type=store http://www.cabelas.com/spod-1/0044517.shtml Edited to add: I do measure base to tip for casual checking as I am loading pistol stuff. I accept +- a thou or so for RN or similar type profile. I accept a couple thou more spread for HP. I still use a comparator for doing die setup though. This is the only way to be sure where the bullet base actually is in the case every single time.
  8. Best non-Apple MP3 player I have found was my plain ole' Motorola RAZR V2. I put a 2GB micro-sd card in it and it worked fine with up to 1000 songs. The coolest feature is that it paused songs I was listening to when I made and received calls and then went right back to the song when I was done. The biggest bummer was having to buy a $99 bluetooth headset to listen in stereo, but it was worth it :-)
  9. I was mildly entertained, but very disappointed with how it wrapped things up and just plain petered out at the end instead of going somewhere interesting with the open story threads. Watchable, but nothing to write home about IMHO.
  10. The AR is the small-block chevy of the rifle world. More parts, mods and options available for it than anything else. At a match. if you have trouble with an AR, you will always find parts and expert help. With anything else, maybe, maybe not :-( This is not to say other stuff is not competitive, just not as well supported. Happy Holidays!
  11. I use a 1978 vintage RockChucker to load all of my rifle, and yes, including the .338LM, but I'm going to use the 1050 for the AR. 1982 vintage RockChucker here :-)
  12. Oh, great. NOW you tell me. You gotta get around here a little more often, George! Actually, one thing had a little trouble with was finding one that wasn't wireless. For a desktop PC it doesn't make sense to keep burning up batteries. The SI300 is a god ole' fashioned one with a cable and USB plug, hard animal to find nowadays I'll be around a bit more :-)
  13. Try the Kensington SI300 Laser Mouse. Smooth as glass, nothing better out there IMHO.
  14. Because I use a single stage setup for my bolt rifle reloading, it's no big thing to weigh all the charges, so I do so. For my AR's even the JP, all charges are tossed from the measure in my Dillon 550. Tried weighing charges for some precision AR fodder to see if a diff could be seen, At 200 yards, all groups were identical, thrown or measured.
  15. Hmmm, been using Entourage for 5+ years now and have never seen this one before. But as with all Microsoft products, if it doesn't happen again, then it ain't broken, heck, if it only happens now and then it's still good, LOL
  16. Howdy y'all. Here is my buddy Marcus smoking the crowd in 125gp (Formula 3) at Buttonwillow Raceway at the last race of the 2008 AFM season. On-board with Marcus Henderson, AFM #67 The camera is one of our tiny Mini systems like I used on my AR at the last Bay Area Rifle Championship. Here is stage 8/ BTW, the 2009 BARC date has been set. July 26th. 2009 BARC Info Marcus is scary fast for a club racer and won most of the races he was in this season by a wide margin. The MotoGP 125's make that kinda' pace look slow!! I have some MotoGP 125cc races as windows media and will post one later to show you the way the pro's go at it.
  17. OK, been out to a couple track days and am ready to take the next available NRS (New Racer School) to get my license for the 2009 race season. Here is picture of me on my TZ125 getting ready to go out for a riding session at a track day event a couple months ago. The RS125 on the right is my buddy Marcus who missed out winning the 2008 AFM Formula III championship by two measly points because of an administrative issue at the first race of the season :-( I have put about 250 miles on the bike so far and man, is it fast compared to what I rode back in the late seventies. It will outrun liter bikes up to 100mph and corners and stops like nothing I have ever ridden before!
  18. OK, just got back from practice day at Sears Point Infineon Raceway. Not riding this round but doing a bang-up biz on renting on-board video systems to racers. We have some on-board racing footage posted at our website: http://www.axialvideo.com/ Also check out the rifle-cam footage we have posted from the Bay Area Rifle Championship earlier this month. I mounted one of our Mini DVR video systems right on my rifle for the whole match :-)
  19. OK, here is a great little video clip following squad 3 through the match. Check it out: 2008 BARC Video
  20. Complete results are up on Area 2: http://uspsa2.org/match_results/match_disp...413&club=RH
  21. Howdy Everyone, Thanks to all the competitors who came out and made it such a great match :-) A big thanks to Brian Enos for helping us make this a match that gave back big to the competitors. Results have been uploaded to USPSA and are now available: 2008 BARC Results They will be posted on Area 1 in complete form within a couple days. If you did not stay for awards and won anything, we will be mailing it out within the next week. Some great match photos by Troy Engel here: 2008 BARC Images I would also like to especially the hard-working match staff without whom this match would not have gotten onto the ground! Tom Frenkel: Rangemaster Vince Sargentini: Stats Todd Crow: Stage CRO Stephen Bellingham: Stage CRO Michael Sousa: Stage CRO Jim Griffin: Stage CRO Chris Sechiatano: Stage CRO And a special thanks to my wife Robin who did a large amount of the behind the scenes work putting together all the match goodies and handling the scoresheets and competitor labels for me when I ran out of steam. Regards,

  25. Howdy Everyone, Stage descriptions have just been posted: http://www.3gunrules.com/documents/match-a...info/2008-BARC/ Final shoot testing and prop construction starts this week. Next week I take a vacation and work my butt off Gonna' have a good match for ya' all this year. BTW, been working on starting up a motor-sports oriented on-board video biz recently and will be shooting the match with a Rifle-Cam on-board video system for some kicks and grins! Gonna' test it this week and maybe post a clip. I am thinking our Mini DVR system could be a good shooter-cam system too. Axial Video Systems
