  1. And dat's my take too. Each to their own, just don't try to make others like what you like. That's the freedom this country is about, not forcing your attitude around because it's what your idea of right is. Thank you J-Ho More beer is what the world needs I say, I hope that isn't a problem for anyone
  2. Well, well, well. Shut my mouth. Unleaded is already mandated in MotoGP, but I had not heard this about Indy cars going "Green". Hmmmm! PC Racing, now I've seen everything. Racers are about as green as a 3rd world nation encouraging slash-n-burn agriculture in the rain forests. This move MUST be all about the sponsors and the consuming public horde and not at all about actually saving the earth, at least s to WHY the decision was made (not what they say about why, but actually why)
  3. I don't know that, but I can tell you that a gallon of VP C-12 racing fuel is over $15
  4. Thats why you don't see any "racing" cars and motorcycles running anything but real fuel
  5. +10 to that. I was also a hippie too and yep, you are sooooo right about the reasons What the heck was it all about anyway.....? I just can't seem to remember so I guess I musta' really been there LOL
  6. Generally I find myself talking to bright young person in either Austin TX, or SoCal whenever I call Apple for any reason whatsoever. Ocassionally I get an account service rep on the east coast, but I have NEVER been outsourced to another continent
  7. John, I am thinking you have a comittment issue here LOL It's whatever works for ya' IMHO. I use both coach!
  8. Eric, when you are ready for a Dual Boot Intel Mac (running XP Pro just like it oughta') just let me know. I can talk ya' through it, but can also offer some big dividends for ya' on the Mac side if you want a custom build-up done. I am typing this on a Dual Boot MacBookPro and just installed 3 Mac Mini's for our new office machines running XP in Parallels as a ghosted virtual machine. The XP VM runs as fast as a full dual boot does and it allows us to run our specialized accounting apps while booted to X and use IE7 for the websites that require it (banking and payroll services). We replaced our old Dell boxes with the Mini's for a cost of under $600 a machine plus the XP copy for each ($149 at Royal Discount). Our office LAN is now all Mac on the client side with every machine running XP as a VM and doing all the email and websurfing in OSX for internet safety/security reasons.
  9. I'd just let er' ride and leave the option available for those that wish. If you don't keep much in the account, then no real issue for ya' if they freeze it. Having a PayPal account is very handy whenever you run across a situation where it is handy, if you get my drift
  10. PayPal is bad juju to use for selling/buying loaded ammo, gun parts and complete firearms. Just about anything else, you are pretty much good to go. The policy is specific and doesn't leave much wiggle room. Just wait it out and pull the cash ASAP once it clears. Then never touch the big three again with PayPal handled funds. It's good to have a PayPal account, just like it's good to have a clean AMEX card. Just understand how it works and use it accordingly and to your advantage where it's advantageous. Most of this world has something most of won't like in some manner, or another. Just learn the way something works and punch the buttons accordingly. PayPal is the most reliable and secure low cost internet payment gateway there is at the moment, it just has it's limits with certain products. Understand the tool and use it for what it does best. I can't really think of a thing in the mainstream public face world that doesn't have some form of firearm bugaboo going in it's demeanor, I just assume this from the start and have no disappointments as a result. Heck, I'm even pleasantly surprised now and then
  11. Forget the P-shooters and take good running shoes Oh yeah, don't bathe so you stink to high heaven and make noise wherever you go. Thats the best advice other than don't make agressive moves if you have an encounter, make yourself real small and back away slowly and steadily keeping yourself from looking tall (tall = threat). Then run like hell when you have some distance and a clear path away.
  12. Well, the leathers arrived yesterday. Now I have all my riding gear, but the bike rebuild is stalled halfway back together due to no letup at work and a new web project (motorcycle racing partts webstore: http://www.accu-products.com/ ) Here is me posing in all of my new gear. Note the spiffy red skull pattern knee sliders :-)
  13. Yes and No. It's more FreeBSD than Mach. Mach/NeXT native software won't run/compile, pretty much anything FreeBSD/BSD will. http://developer.apple.com/opensource/ Treat it as BSD with a GUI and you will get along just fine with OSX. Now that OSX runs on X86 architecture, why not try running a Mac box on Linux for fun. Hint, it won't give you better than X does though, far from it as far as useability goes, just geeky factor
  14. Heat Cycle is 4-6k rpm until it reaches 62C and then a full cool off. 3 heat cycles are optimum prior to break-in. Break-in is 8-10k rpm no full load, variable throttle for 10-15 minutes, or 40km. Do not exceed 72C temp. Two passes like this and BAM! full throttle and peg the tach baby!
  15. Just finished the mechanical tear-down, check and re-assemble from stem to stern. It's cherry and pretty much new everywhere. Cleaned up the second set of bodywork and spare tank today. Will rattle-can them in the final design I have for the bike, add the yellow novice number plates and run it like that for my first 6 races (takes 6 races to stamp your expert license). The good set of bodywork and tank will go out for professional recreation of my rattle-can mockup with white number plates (run them when done as a novice). Here is a new picture from earlier today. I had just buttoned it up after finishing the front end tech check and changing out to the original black Marchesini wheels. It also has the brand new Bridgestone slicks on it now. The work stand it is on is something I custom built. It has 2" pipe legs that unthread and it weighs no more than the $3-500 commercial folding tables made for at track use. Cost me $60 :-) The only things still to do mechanically are drain and flush the cooling system (looks clean, but why take chances) and add the Guhl Racing Thermostat to the coolant loop. Then it will be ready to take up to Kevin Murray at MCE Racing (based at Thunderhill Raceway Park) to have a final checkover done and to have him do the engine break-in on his Dyno. This will get me a perfectly running engine that is jetted properly and pulls full revs down the straightawy from the git-go Kevin is the main man locally with these little beasties. I will get my first ride on it up at Thunderhill as soon as he is done with it (mid-octoberish). Then pass my NRS (New Racer School) and Bam, it's off to the races for moi! :-) http://www.mce-racing.com/ http://www.thunderhill.com/ More later,
  16. Just added the first new motorcycle to my garage in over 20 years. 2000 Yamaha TZ125 (4JT7) GP racing motorcycle. Add this to the 1963 Triumph TR650 that is my other bike (shown earlier in this thread) and you could say I now have a "Raptor" and a "Tractor" It will be getting a full repaint and lots and lots of decals within a few weeks. New pix when it's done.
  17. That's no joke with the 2-Smokers I just can' make that "Ring Ding" thing sound cool so it's the old childhood standby "Vroom Vroom" for me whenever I make stupid motor noises :-) BTW, just locked in my deal with DC Decals as one of my 2008 sponsors. They make high quality die cut decal lettering and custom logos. Beats the heck outa' painting stuff on and then re-painting after you crash (no matter what you think, sooner or later you will crash when you race). Great product, reasonable prices and fast delivery (Do I know how to pimp my sponsors, or what?). Remember DC Decals whenever you need to add that special touch: http://www.dcdecals.net/
  18. A747 for the Pre-Mix (of course) and Motorex 10/30 synthetic gear oil in the tranny. Why bother with a 30+ year old 2 stroke oil in the tranny when modern stuff that works better exists. But interestingly enough, the manual for the 2000 model (4JT7) still calls for R-30 in the tranny box. It is still a good oil, but few choose to use it nowadays compared to a "real" gear oil Just finished stripping the exhaust pipe and will be giving it fresh paint later today. The black Marchesini wheels are back on it now. When the livery gets it's repaint, it's gonna' be a real sharp 'sheen yesiree!
  19. Sponsors so far are two local bars my friend owns and my web design company (write off!). I am working a deal with a painting company and a tire company and have requests in to Galfer, Regina and Motul through my Sponsorhouse account. I have built up a racing team website and am actively soliciting. I am also building pro-bono websites for some experienced local racers who are in return pimping me to their existing sponsors and trading parts/knowledge. Here is my racing team website: http://www.makumozo.com/racing/ Here is a site I just finished for a local racer (who placed 5th yesterday at Thunderhill in FIII against stiff competition) http://www.agaperacing.com/
  20. Update: Bike has arrived and is being carefully checked over and prepped for it's first track outing in the middle of October (New Racer School to get checked out for my AFM racing license). Here is quick shot of the bike on a work stand at my warehouse: Still two to three weeks until my leathers are done. In the meantime I will just have to content myself with primping the bike and going Vroom, Vroom
  21. I spent the day at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA yesterday checking out AFM racing. Elena Myers was there, but was not going to race as there was no one competing in the Formula III class that could get even near her laptimes at this track (1:58's). The next fastest person racing a 125cc GP bike could only cut 2:02's so it was decided not to waste her time/energy and the machinery
  22. Way to go Henny. about 4 years for me. It can be done and we shall prove it amigo. Hang in there and cheers :-)
