  1. Did you get them to tell you what primers they do use for production ammo then? If the 100’s are supposed to be the gold standard of primers, why would they not put them in their competition ammo?
  2. I actually just did something very similar, but not too +p, And I didn’t check poi shifts. anyways, I used HS-6 powder which I had on hand from loading 9 major. Another popular powder that should work for this accurate AA#7 but I decided on HS-6 because I think it is cleaner. i used some 124 gold dots, and some RMR 124 Jhp (these were their original design, And not the current “nuke” design). 6.3gr HS-6 got me 1147fps average out of a Glock 45. However, I had to seat these very deep. I think I was at 1.050” to plunk in my gun. 6.5gr got me to 1170fps average. Here I was starting to see some flattened primers so I did not go any higher since I was only aiming for 1150fps anyways. if you can load them a little longer for your gun hs-6 could get you to where you need to be. I have gotten over 1400fps in my 9major loads with PD 124s with 8.2gr but obviously not shot out of a Glock! below is a screenshot of my data including the gold dot loads as well. I can double check my oal in my log when I get home from work if you would like. data below is in the following format: gun, bullet weight, bullet manufacturer, powder type, powder charge, blank (oal), 10 shot velocities, then finally avg velocity in red
  3. Has anyone tried, or heard anything about the Stealth Arms Platypus? For about $1500 with an aluminum grip and takes Glock magazines it seems decent but I haven’t seen much about it. One downside may be that it doesn’t have a plate system, just a direct mount option.
  4. Glad to see you’re back, just ordered my first cases from you based good reviews on the forum. Also, thank you for your great customer service with my order and follow up to make sure everything worked out. Very excited to try your bullets
  5. Sarge, just spoke to them and they do not currently offer a forum discount as “he has not been active on the forum for over a year”
  6. Was about to place an order because they are running 14% off sale if buying 2 cases, but figured I would check for a code here first. So also interested
  7. Doug, I totally understand that logic behind it, but why is every other company able to ship much much larger and heavier objects for 1/2 the cost? (Yes I understand PT is not doing the volume other retailers are which helps lower the cost) But why are they not able to offer a small flat rate box for $10? $7 for the shipping and $3 for the handling. Or, use pirateship/stamps.com where the price to ship is only $5. This price just does not make sense for the object being shipped. And they didn’t seem to have any interest in helping me figure it out
  8. Haha you could probably fit 20+ of these into a flat rate box. I can understand if you get a deal from a shipping company to only offer one option, but it’s obviously not a good deal so it doesn’t totally make sense to me. So why not offer a couple different shipping options? I don’t know that iv ever bought something that didn’t have multiple shipping options (shooting company or otherwise) except maybe bullets where USPS flat rate was the only option. I kind of assumed it was a website issue where it wasn’t offering different shipping options and that’s why I called before posting. On the side of PT, I have never had a problem dealing with them until now. Every time I have called they have been nothing but helpful and quick to do so. I have spoken with Tiffany personally multiple times and the same thing applies directly to her. This is rubbing me the wrong way though.
  9. Tried looking elsewhere but the only thing i could find was one for $190, but with free shipping haha. edit: and someone selling uncoated plates they seem to be making in their garage on eBay
  10. Hey guys, took about a year and a half off of shooting due to life happening. Just getting back in the flow of things and went to order an optics plate from PT to try out limited optics this coming season. when I went to check out, PT is charging $25.50 for shipping and a 4% CC fee for only an optics plate. This price seemed crazy to me based on the size and weight of the product so I called and asked if there were other options and was told no except that I could purchase and send in my own label. So, for those of you who order stuff from them are you sending in your own shipping label or are these new prices or something? Or am I just overreacting to the 25% cost to ship a couple oz of aluminum?
  11. Thanks for the input. Iv never really worried about if some are a little under on 9mm, but they’ve never been as far off as some of this 45
  12. I’m currently processing a bunch of 45 acp cases and it seems like a ton of my brass is coming in way under the case gauge minimum lip (shown below). There was also very minimal of the die needed to resize cases (a couple turns off the shell plate would still pass gauge and be undersized). The brass was actually easy to insert into the gauge before being resized at all (needed to be pushed out however). When measuring the brass before being resized the length was 0.884-0.895” where the “case length” in my hornady book says 0.898”. Comparing that batch of brass to some once fired factory brass, the die needed to be moved down to touching the shell plate like normal to resize once fired brass. So I know the notches in the case gauge for pistol is not as important as rifle brass since it just goes off the case length. Are these short pieces ok to shoot? If they cycle in my 1911 are they good to go? Or should I worry about the “headspace”?
  13. What is the difference between the two? I’m currently using a Wolff 6lb conventional recoil spring, which if I remember correctly is what they suggest you buy?
  14. Ya, stick with the 6lb to start. I like the feeling of that much better. I’ll report back after trying a couple hundred HS-6 and see if it’s a lot cleaner because I can’t remember
  15. So an update to this, I tried the 7lb spring and hated the recoil impulse from it. The muzzle was dipping bad. so I think I will going back to the 6lb, and trying out my HS-6 load again since i remember it shooting cleaner and when shot directly next to the AA7 load, I can’t tell that much of a difference. thanks for your input everyone
  16. For those running Honchos what recoil spring weight are you running? Iv always run a 6lb as the manual and PT says, however I am thinking about experimenting with bumping this up to a 7lb. I am shooting AA7, and the unburnt powder really ends up slowing the slide down after a couple hundred rounds and sometimes the slide will not return all the way back. Not a huge issue for practice, but it is a pain point for majors with higher round counts. This is also a fairly new recoil spring, maybe 1-2k rounds on it so it shouldn’t be too worn out yet. At the end of a major last year a local Honcho shooter saw one of these times the slide didn’t return all the back and I had to push the slide on a stage and the first thing he asked was what spring weight I was running and when I told him 6lb he said that has started using a 7lb and had much better luck along with a couple other guys he knows. So, is it worth trying a 7lb or should I go back to my HS-6 load which I remember having much less unburnt powder and thus being much cleaner. Any input is appreciated.
  17. I just tried some BBI 124TC with 3.8gr sport pistol at around 1.120ish that got about 132PF. Shot very nicely out of my Honcho with sight block barrel.
  18. Opposite of what you will be shooting, I load light supers. These lighter bullets are much shorter and I found when I do crimp that it helps prevent set back. However even when using jacketed bullets it isn’t hard to over crimp and if you do can cause more set back issues. I haven’t loaded 223 in a couple years, but iirc I did not crimp that. So as everyone else said it comes down to your bullet and brass selection. Try a couple different ways out with dummy rounds with only brass and bullets and chamber them a couple times and see what happens
  19. I have been looking for a PCC to use as a trainer for my 556 ARs as my local club does not allow rifle calibers on our bays and our rifle range is static with at least 1 second between shots. Because of this I was looking specifically at the new CMMG MK4s that use the conversion mags. I think that they had a previous version that also used the conversion mags also? My question however is how reliable are these and why can’t I find a review of them anywhere except for gun youtubers? IV heard the recoil of the radial delay is close to that of 556 is this true? Would one of these rifles be a good choice for what I’m trying to accomplish or should I just go with a regular PCC and if so which one?
  20. Thanks everyone, I’ll look into those. IV obviously heard of trex, red hill, and also tier one before, but I’ll have to look at Dara. I guess those just didn’t show up when I tried my googlefu, just a lot of random stuff I had never heard of before.
  21. Hello all, I finally got a couple of lights for my pistols and I’m looking for recommendations on holsters for them. Specifically looking for an IWB for my g19 with a TLR-1 and an OWB holster for my g34 with a TLR-1. I couldn’t find many brands that I recognized that had what I needed. Thanks in advance
