  1. Thank you to everyone for the help and the results of your data! I've decided I'm gonna try silhouette, true blue and win 572. I got lucky on the win 572. It was on sale at cabelas so I cleaned them out. If it doesn't work for me I can always trade it off. The other two I'll snag next week when I visit my LGS up north. Now I'm just down to which projectiles to run. The cheapest option I've found in 124gr is the everglades plated RN at $0.085 per projectile. The RMR FMJ RN is $0.089 per. I know the rmr's are accurate but if I'm not pushing the everglades past 1250fps I'm not seeing an advantage to the FMJ. In fact I kinda like the idea that the plated bullet doesn't have any exposed lead at the base. So has anyone had problems with the plated everglades projectiles?
  2. Farmer, at 6.0grs of silhouette your just breaking into +p pressures if your using a 124gr projectile based on book. But man you've got 100fps more than book velocity! Is this normal with silhouette or do you think it's just your barrel? Haywizzle, how was the WSF for muzzle flash? Also thanks for the link to that tool, I'll be be trying that out! I did some more reading last night and stumbled across winchester 572 which looks promising as well. Folks on here either loved it or hated. But the data shows that even at max book load pressures are nicely below the 35k psi mark.
  3. My goal is to create a 124gr load that will closely replicate federal 124gr HST +p POI out to about 40yrds. Based on a calculator I found a 124gr projectile at 1150fps will get me there. My question is: using Everglades 124gr FMJ round nose what powders should I be looking at to reach that velocity without being into +p pressures. So far vihtavuori powders are out as I can't get them locally. I was looking at WSF, winchester autocomp, ramshot silhouette, and CFE pistol.
