  1. I am looking at doing a single-stack 9mm now. It makes a bit more sense now that I have heard what others say.
  2. Thanks for all of the advice. I really appreciate it.
  3. I have seen OAL cause finicky feeding before. I try to run about as long as possible because, for me, it keeps feeding issues under control. That being said, I have had bullet profiles that required me to load pretty short, particularly in 147gr loads. I have experienced similar malfunctions to yours when I went too short. As mentioned above, you may want to try going a bit longer and see if that gets it fixed.
  4. I am shooting a G34 in production. I have a .22 that I plan on shooting as well.
  5. Awesome advice so far. I had not really considered that there was not an advantage to the 2011 in this case. Now I am going to have to look at the 9mm 1911 route.
  6. I guess I should have included that I understand about the uncompetitive part of needing more than 11 rounds. I was mainly looking for why the single-stack might be more desirable than the 2011 style. The CZs just don't seem to interest me too much. That is a good deal on the DW in that ad.
  7. What made you go with the single-stack? This would be mainly a SC gun.
  8. If you were going to buy or build a pistol for the limited class in SC, what would you choose and why? I am leaning toward a 2011, but am not completely decided.
  9. Thanks for the info. Sounds like I will keep my Gen 3 for the time being. It runs great and I am happy with it. I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing out on a major upgrade.
  10. I have read people say that the Gen 5 34 is better than the Gen 3. I have not shot a Gen 5 yet, so what do you guys think a Gen 5 does better than a Gen 3? Is there a compelling reason to change to the Gen 5?
  11. I agree with this, especially after having been attributed a miss on a plate that I saw the hit on. The plates were only painted between squads, so I was not able to show that I had made the hit.
  12. You are correct. I should have included that. I am going to a completely different profile. Thanks for looking out!
  13. I am also making the switch to round nose. I am just not a fan of having to go so short.
  14. That is exactly what I did last night. I plan to make that a focus for my immediate training future. I have no doubt that I have lost valuable time on stages due to my grip.
  15. I just watched his video and it completely answered my question as to what I was doing wrong. Thanks for the suggestion.
  16. I am struggling some with finding my grip out of the holster for the first shot. I feel like my left hand (right handed shooter) is wandering around the grip at times. Once I find it I am good, but I had an entire stage today where I didn't get a good grip out of the holster and know I dropped some time due to it. I am fairly new to shooting Steel Challenge, so I am curious if there are any specific drills that might help beyond simply drawing to a target during dry fire, or is this something that will develop to muscle memory with more practice?
  17. Are you using 147 Berry's flat nose by chance? I have to seat those pretty deep to plunk in my ZEV barrel too.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. I have a set of Dawsons on the way.
  19. Thanks for the replies. I think the fiber optic would help me acquire the sights a little faster. I felt like I was searching a bit on some of the longer targets. I carry a 19 for SD.
  20. Shot my first Steel Challenge match today and had a great time. I have been a long time rifle competitor in high power and three position, but decided I wanted to play on the steel. I shot my G 34 in production and actually did pretty well. I had a couple of times where I felt it was tough to pick up the factory sights as I transitioned from plate to plate. Are there any sights that are preferred for Steel Challenge?
