Oxford will probably be the largest area to the east. Lincoln is closer to the range, and the Comfort Inn is decent enough.

I think the Mississippi state match has the local Boy Scouts paint. Not sure if it’s any faster, but it sure beats being stuck in a squad with folks who don’t paint.

It would be hard to tell if it has the sporter chamber since that is something that has to be specified when you order it from MR.

One of the big things with the Switchbolt is to make sure you get the sporter chamber. It’s a little more forgiving than the standard chamber. There have also been a few issues with the Switchbolt receiver being totally reliable with the Wiland barrels. They were working on solutions, so that may be solved now.

Have you checked for the off chance that the face of your barrel may have a ding in it that is keeping the occasional round from firing? Also, any chance that the firing pin is dragging in the channel?

I tend to agree with you on the times possibly not needing to be reduced. I haven’t dug too deep, but at a glance what I see is maybe 20-25 people who account for all of the fastest times. Do we really need to move the times for everyone based on such a small number?

On my 3.80 range strings I am in the range of 2.0 between shot 2 and 3. On a 3.55ish string I am in the 1.85 range. The really fast guys are doing it in the mid to low 1.50s. A 2 second penalty might would be a little on the low side. I think it needs to be enough to keep from encouraging people to not move. The stage would probably be about like Showdown if there was no movement, so you are looking at potentials of 1.60s before the penalty.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see another 4 second drop in RFRO and PCCO. If I remember correctly, last year’s WSSC was not as fast overall as the year before. I don’t know that this year will be any faster either. I can say that it appears there is some waning interest in Steel Challenge in my area. Matches have gotten smaller. I know ammo has kept some out, and can’t help but wonder if some folks are just moving into other hobbies.

In my opinion, Outer Limits is the stage that sets GMs apart. Plenty of people can shoot over 100% on the other stages, but OL requires more than muscle memory. Don’t believe it’s muscle memory on the other stages? I shot with one of the current world record holders and watched him miss the stop plate several times on a stage that was set up wrong. We got it corrected and he was back to hammering.

If mud is never an issue in your bays you can use fender washers nailed in the ground. Paint them different colors for different stages. If mud can be an issue, then go with the whiskers.

I dry fired around 100-150 times and ran around 30 rounds of live ammo through it. You would swear it’s a different trigger now.

Final comments now. I shot a couple of mags through it and everything completely straightened out. Now it has zero creep and breaks at 2.25 pounds.

As a quick follow up, I just dry fired it about 100 times and the trigger pull has come down to 4 1/2 pounds. Maybe it just needs to be shot some to get it to settle in.

I am using their pins. When I mention take up in this, I am talking about an easy 1/16th or more. I am going to try the break in and see if maybe it just needs to settle down some.

I just installed a Hiperfire PDI Black in my GMR-15 and something is way off. There is a large amount of take up in the trigger, imagine a really bad two stage, and it breaks at 10 pounds on my trigger scale. I called Hiperfire and they didn’t have any suggestions other than to send it back in. Has anyone run into this and found a solution other than sending it back?

I don’t think you’ll find too many tier 2 or 3 matches with the wrong heights for plates. Most venues are laser leveling before big matches now.

I generally look for the starting point that has the least amount of backtracking and walking. For example, at WSSC I like to start on 5 to Go since it lets me go straight down the line.

Let me get some measurements for you and I will let you know. I have it on a TacSol receiver right now, but will be moving it to Magnum Research.

I am going to sight mine in this week. I do know there are some folks using the PCC sights instead since it gets the sights up higher.

It usually isn’t bad if he has them in stock. The chassis situation was made worse by outsourcing the Cerakote work. I ordered some sights about two weeks ago and they were to me in less than a week. One thing that sometimes throws people off is the way the online store works. It generates a shipping label immediately, so you get a tracking number right away. That gives the appearance that an item is going to ship sooner than it does.

I have the Pro Ears Stealth Elite. They are an in ear model, and I don’t have trouble hearing rimfire hits on the plates on SO an OL.
