  1. CO setup acquired, will be testing and transitioning to in May. On a short vacation this week, going to probably shoot prod at my 1st Sunday home club match this month with the P10C and work on transitioning to a dot as the month goes on. Gen 5 Glock 34 MOS (Production is my backup division) Double Diamond Tungsten Guide Rod with 13 & 15lb springs to test TTI GM Spring & Connector kit 3x TTI +5/6 basepads Leupold DeltaPointPro Also bought a test batch of Fenix 124gr and 147gr "training" ammo. Going to see if I can feel a big enough difference between that and the Lawman 124 I usually run.
  2. Ive heard its pretty good, Sage ranked it in 3rd after the RMR and DPP, but its a solid optic. Its the heaviest of the bunch though at 2.6oz vs 2oz or lower for the DPP/RMR. You may have a slower slide cycle time if that matters to you. I was eyeballing one as buying a backup would put me at $600 vs $800 for DPPs. Im giving a DPP a chance so I ordered one last friday. I was eyeballing the Romeo 3, heard mixed reviews about that dot. Handful of good experiences, handful of failures and it hasnt been out long. customer service speed on par with Leupold. Vortex at my club is popular, but most guys have at least 2 of them, some have several backups ontop of that. Just seems a bit ridiculous to need so many backups. On topic of the HBI trigger, the factory profile "bit" my finger and it was very noticeable after about 50-100 rounds. No pinching with the HBI, and I like the flat profile.
  3. I had a bunch of store credit at BSPS so I went with TTIs, but ill definitely have to pick up a few pmags to keep on hand.
  4. Funny you should say that, I cancelled a Shadow 2 order to fund a CO build. I figured if im comfortable with a polymer gun, I should stick with it until more metal optics ready models come out. Im more or less using this as a learning experience as polymers are less forgiving to crap grip and mine needs work. Dont get me wrong, I still want a Shadow 2, but I figured if I end up disliking CO I still have a capable prod gun and I can offload it pretty easily if I want to go in a different direction.
  5. Its more of a reliability thing. The stock striker has a chance of breaking off at the tip. Im at 2k on the factory one, but it makes me uneasy knowing I dont have a more reliable part. Most of last year Leupold was fighting through issues with the DPP, but has supposedly since revised the design and reports have become MUCH less frequent of issues with the dot. It was things like the battery contact would come loose or the wake up accelerometer would die after 8-12k rounds. The most reliable one I know of is the RMR Type 2, but the window is small, tinted heavily, and you need to remove the RMR to replace the battery.
  6. Sorry to necrothread, just curious as im looking at picking up a new DPP in the next few weeks. How is everyones holding up since all the issues/fixes?
  7. There are lots of optic options, but the main question is how much is your time/money worth? Plenty of people run Vortex options, they have great warranties, but the warranty gets used often. The DPP has a good warranty, slower turnaround, but is significantly better made than the Vortex. Sage Dynamics tested a good number of dots and the Trijicon RMR came in 1st, the DPP in 2nd, and last I checked the Holosun 507C is in 3rd. The rest of the dots failed their abusive test. One thing to note is that a 6-8MOA Vortex looks like the 2.5MOA DPP since the DPP can get much brighter than the Vortex dots. I could buy 2 Venoms or whatever for the cost of a DPP, but then youre taking chances with reliability and needing to re-zero if one fails mid match. Personally I can only make a match or two a month and I would be super pissed if my optic failed before or during a match. YMMV. As for trigger, HBI all the way with a CGW striker. An HBI with a 3# spring will light off CCI and Federal primers without an issue. I personally like the flat face trigger more as well.
  8. Has anyone had issues with the TTIs since you have to bend the spring a bit to get the extension off?
  9. In the process of acquiring to a CO setup. Production is fun, but im not sure if its for me just yet. I want to test hi-cap + an optic since I am mostly target focused and sometimes have trouble with my vision focusing where I want it to. Limited Major / Open look fun, although expensive to dip into and seem a bit hosey since A/C are so close in points.
  10. Off holster topic, but I saw you suggest this striker a while back. Just in case I decide to go down that road at some point, is that striker still going strong?
  11. Ive seen a few people mention these: https://www.idptactical.com/store/p25/IDP_Custom_Lightweight_Striker_%2F_Firing_pin_Small_Frame_for_Glocks.html But never used them.
  12. Just dawned on me I didnt really look for a holster. I know RHT and BT makes them, what do you use?
  13. Is there some sort of established guideline as to what power spring I need to light off certain primers with a stock striker in this gun? I have a TTI GM kit on the way and am really just looking for a minor pull weight reduction without sacrificing reliability with CCI and maybe some Winchesters. After doing some reading I feel like im a bit spoiled since my P10C will light off anything with a 3# spring. I have limited Glock knowledge, so if the striker assembly is the same across the 34, 17 and 19 or whatever, please feel free to let me know. Im assuming I cant go lower than 4.5# from what im hearing but id like some feedback.
  14. Ill definitely keep that in mind. Im still basically a USPSA Noob, and my fast shooting skills have quite a way to go, so I would think ill be ok for now with slower cycling. Down the road though, ill potentially get the slide lightened. I was also considering the 17, but I think the extra weight and length of the barrel will help balance it a bit better with the 34 and I can always go back to Prod if CO isnt my thing.
  15. Following/bumping this. Im on the same fence. Any change in opinion? What did you end up with?
  16. You lightened the striker yourself? Sad to hear about the short throat, I was hoping to avoid that going away from cz.
  17. Appreciate the line on the Pmags, ill definitely consider buying a few as backups. I was reading about some issues with running a #13 ISMI and an optic where the slide was having issues going into battery, so I was researching that still. Hopefully I dont have the striker issues with primers, I dont really want to commit to Federal, but it will depend on what happens and where my trigger pull lands after the TTI GM kit with or without their striker spring. Video explains issue, not really the guide rod, but the spring it ships with.
  18. I was considering the 17 for that exact reason, I shoot production now with a P10C and dont really mind it. The main reason I was looking towards the 34 was that most of the reloads I intend on buying are tested from a 4.75" barrel and only running 131PF. I figured the 17 would be cutting it close with a shorter barrel. I already have a production rig, I would just need a holster shell. Any suggestions on specific guide rods in either metal type?
  19. Im very seriously leaning towards a Gen 5 G34 MOS FS to jump into carry optics, but I have never owned a Glock or really followed their aftermarket. So far, my list consists of: DPP TTI GM Spring kit - (Thinking 4.5# spring, CCI/Win primers) Double Diamond SS or tungsten guide rod with an assortment of springs (13-15#) Probably TTI Basepads Do the MOS pistols come with the optic mounting plates? Im avoiding buying an extended/skeleton striker because of the cost. Maybe down the road if I have issues. Anything else I should really look into or be aware of with this platform? I can eventually replace the stock sights, but that isnt high on my list. Also considering options for enhancing the factory grip.
  20. Dont get me wrong, I still enjoy it, but I want a more "pure" shooting experience without the minor vs major scoring penalty. That and I have some Gear Acquisition Syndrome myself.
  21. Im thinking mag size limitation mainly. Im already fighting against hard target focus as it stands. Im not blaming my gear by any stretch of the imagination, im just trying to figure out where I fall and "Open Lite" looks to be a ton of fun, and it might help with my focusing issues.
  22. Ive shot 4 Production matches so far and done fine in terms of stage planning, but the extreme penalty for missing shots is pushing me towards another division. I thought it would be the most sustainable for me in the long run, but im not so sure. The whole concept of the dot is appealing though.
  23. Is this nationally? Id be curious of overall division growth over the last 2-3 years as a new shooter seriously tempted by CO.
