  1. I know im kind of necroing this thread but im in a weird position. I have a CZ P10C as a production rig (night sights fyi). I have some ergonomic annoyances with this gun because I want a bigger grip and the beaver tail rubs my thumb knuckle. Ive shot a handful of matches and somewhat like production but im curious about CO. Reason being is that I repeatedly have trouble establishing front sight focus with these particular irons and irons in general. My Index isnt terrible and my dryfire is mostly consistent. I realize that a fiber sight could help quite a bit however im wondering if completely switching to carry optics is a better move. My heart says I still want the Shadow 2, but im seriously considering cancelling the build (not on the smith table yet) taking the 10% hit and building out a Gen 5 34 CO setup. Getting the S2 Milled for CO is out of my budget. (~$2300 + optic) I also have an alternatives, I could just take the shadow and roll with it to see if my sighting gets better, then buy an optic dovetail plate for my P10c to test the waters, but then I would be "stuck" with the Shadow. Advice? Edit: One thing to note, Im thin, tall and lanky with long fingers and not a ton of upper body strength. Transitions with my P10 are fast and easy to move to the next target, It just takes me a while to verify my "acceptable sight picture". I loaded my P10 up to 17 and ziptied a weight to the slide to make it 45oz and it was much more cumbersome for me to move around confidently. Makes me wonder if im making a wrong move to begin with and just trying to be in the heavy steel gun crowd.
  2. Do any of you have any experience with these mounting plates, or dovetail mount optics mounting plates from other manufacturers? Id like to try shooting with a dot on the cheap before I really dive into it and spend money on milling or even a different gun...
  3. Shot a morning and afternoon match yesterday. 91 of 129 45.62% - Morning - Slow, deliberate, accurate 68 of 129 54.90% - Afternoon - Just tried to go a little faster 8 and 12th of 22 in Production. Everything for the most part went fine, No equipment issues, gun/ammo ran fine. In the morning session I had an issue with a long stage plan, but it was just a memory thing. Observations - Still having trouble acquiring the sight quickly, especially after a target transition. Im nearly positive I did a significant bit of close range point shooting. Dryfire helps, but Ill acquire a target with target focus, shift to sight focus, break shot, move eyes to next target (target focus), transition gun, acquire iron sights and break shot. Im wondering if I should fight through this or look more into Carry Optics. My footwork and stance is atrocious, I shoot from weird angles that force me to bend my left arm as I shoot through an array. Im contorting my entire upper body instead of moving my feet and maintaining arm lock. I tend to take a wider stance and fall back into a weaver stance (which im trying to break) and move on the balls of my feet instead of taking steps. Still had fun, and also got my sponsor to join that club.
  4. Are those all remans you have shot? Im thinking of getting a test batch of angelfire and fenix.
  5. Didnt Freedom get a ton of heat over the last few years for terrible QC and blowing up a few guns?
  6. ^This, make sure its a MOS version so you can shoot Carry Optics down the road if you want. You can always look at the CZ P10F/P09 or the CZ 75 SP-01 as well if you want something a little different. Loads of options out there.
  7. Possibly? It happens even at the range when im by myself.
  8. Any preference between the Lucas or FP10?
  9. Honestly ive done it a few times at this point. Id hate to waste my time and match fee doing something extra stupid or by trying to get around the rules.
  10. Is that safe for polymer too?
  11. Ill definitely have to start utilizing this time a bit more effectively. 15-20 seconds before my run should definitely help. Yeah, the more I thought about it the more it seemed like I was really pressing my luck. Maybe its just the ranges ive been to so far, but the safety tables at my local places have been right up against a berm so there is nothing really to aim at. Hopefully ill get stuck on something other than a classifier for my first stage.... that is definitely getting annoying.
  12. First Match on March 24th overall went well, shot with a great group of guys and had some good observations. I tried to plan the stages beforehand on paper, it was useless and getting to the match a tad early was definitely the way to go. Ive always had issues getting my sight acquisition speed going for my first box at the range, and it definitely showed as I bombed the first stage which happened to be the classifier. I practically point shot the entire stage. On the last long stage, I thought I had a better idea than everyone else and did my own thing (and got video of it) and I dont know why I thought it was a good idea as it was slower than just taking an extra reload down the course. I also realized how slow I was going compared to how it "felt" Oh, and the swingers were "interesting" as ive never fired at a moving target. Still a good experience, im hoping that the weather holds out for this upcoming weekend and we have another good match.
  13. This will serve as my ongoing journey into shooting sports and progression in USPSA. Ive always been into firearms since I was young, but never had a way of facilitating owning or shooting one with my previous living situation. Ive since gotten a little older, married and moved out. Wife is good with me shooting more often and going to matches, so I figured I would dig deeper into the sport. Never handled/fired a gun in my life until October of 2017 at a basic pistol course December 2017 - Bought my first pistol (Springfield XD Mod 2 4" 9MM) Winter 2017 - Shot twice a month through winter at the indoor range until Spring (~1200 rds) Summer 2017 - Explored other hobbies/life events and didnt shoot until Winter Fall 2018 - Took defensive pistol class Fall 2018 - Bought Springfield XDs Mod 2 9MM to carry Winter 2018 - Primarily shot CCW - (~1200rds) January 2018 - Sold XD Mod 2 and bought CZ P10C January 2019 - Shot Indoor "Action Pistol" match - First taste of "Action Shooting" February 2019 - Dove headfirst into USPSA rules/match etiquette March 2019 -Took Intro to USPSA class March 2019 - First USPSA Level 1 match - Production 41% 102/152 March 2019 - Started Dryfire practice (BS Dryfire Reloaded) 2019 Ongoing Season Goals: 1-2 matches a month; at least 1 match every 3 weeks or run 1 double session a month. Dryfire 3-4 times a week Dont DQ 2019 End of Year Goals: No DQs High C/low B classification. Join 1-2 local, more private ranges with pistol bays.
  14. This is a stupid question, but before the match officially starts, during sign up, can I take a sight picture with an unloaded gun on a target in one of the match pits? My first 1-2 stages I usually just get wrecked because my eyes are still "warming up" to fast sight acquisition and im not sure of how to improve on that. Would dryfiring a bit at home before travelling to the match help?
  15. I started dryfire practice at home so I can still improve without forcing myself to try to mind the rules, go faster, and train at the match. My goal for my next few matches, is to just go at a comfortable pace, actively follow the rules and dont get DQed. I THINK that once that is down, I should be a high C, borderline B shooter based on what im seeing and what the people ive shot with have said. End of the year goal is to make C or higher classification.
  16. When it near evaporates after sitting for a few weeks and looks dry after a short firing session, id say thats more a factor of the oil. I had a test packet of the Lucas Extreme duty and gave that a shot and it stayed much more in place, also tried some Pro-Shot CLP I had on hand and the same thing, the oily coating appeared to stay. Either way, I think im going to give Slip a shot, but also test some M1 0W20 and 5w30 I have laying around and do some rough comparisons after a 300-400 round session.
  17. Didnt DQ, shot 41% in production. Classifier was first which I bombed (28%) because I was cold, nervous, and my eyes couldnt focus on the front sight. Last long stage I went against what everyone else was doing, and bombed on stage planning (32%). All my other scores were in the 45-65% range. Still had a ton of fun and met a great group of people.
  18. Ive been using Hoppes since I started shooting and im at the point where I want to try something else. The Hoppes just never really seems to stay where I want it even with thin coats. Ive been looking at Slip 2000, FP-10, and Lucas Extreme as far as oils go, havent looked much at solvents. What do you guys seem to like the most when it comes to solvents and oils?
  19. Bump, anyone else have any more experiences with either company?
  20. Wow, thats a hell of a difference... Glad I never ordered any of it.
  21. Thats good to know, im eyeballing their production basepads for the Shadow 2
  22. Its flat point (AE9SJ4). I believe AE9SJ2 is round nose. Just a different bullet.

    Lok grip texture

I did, but I dont like the grip pattern in terms of how I feel it would lock into my hand.

    Lok grip texture

This is pretty much me, I have long, thin fingers. Im split between Bogies or Roughnecks. Hopefully I can find a few guys with different grips I can try out for feel.
  25. I noticed that when I was double tapping I was jerking my entire strong hand instead of isolating my trigger finger. Shots went down and left. Fixed that and it got monumentally better.
