  1. And this is factory ammo.. not pf scraping hand load.
  2. I just started training and competing in IPSC Standard minor. So far it's fine when I'm just learning fundamentals, movement etc but I'm pretty sure I'll migrate to production sooner or later. Right now in our club matches where 7/10 standard shooters are shooting minor it's fine. But as soon as I go to a major match and come to a stage with partials or no-shoots covering most of the A zone I'm gonna be super pissed because I know while I'm slow, I'm gonna be extra slow on those targets compared to the major guys. But I like shooting standard. At this point I don't have to do as many reloads and I only need to master the nice single action trigger. I have enough just learning with grip, stance and manipulating the single action so I kinda like it as a beginner option. I'm a complete noob so take my "advice" as it is. If you feel like you have to work on your fundamentals and want to cut down the distractions like the DA first shot and 10 round mag limit I think it can be a good idea. Just shoot it like production in the sense that you need to take your time to get those A hits.
  3. You should check F&K Sport and J.M Works in Sweden. F&K is a shop and J.M. works is a certified Tanfo gunsmith. I would check Henning or Unica Grips.
  4. Shoot the gun you have. Save up for a new one on the side if you feel like it. If you're anything like everyone else in this sport it won't be your last or only gun. Don't know what the used handgun market is like there or how fast you can get a second license but you can always upgrade if the opportunity presents itself. Besides some nice new grips will give the gun a whole new look
  5. You need to change both parts. The ones from the left.
  6. Quick search on the forums tells you can't mix large and small frame bottom and top. Source:
  7. You need new magazines if you get a large frame. You need minimum of 3, preferably 4 or 5. That's 500e. Also you need trigger bar and firing pin. Don't know about the slide.
  8. I'll hijack the thread. I'm looking for that unicorn shape in grips. People who play computer games know this syndrome from trying to find the perfect shaped gaming mouse. What I have so far. - The stock wood grips. Kinda too thick and don't provide enough grip. - LOK thin bogies. The right side feels ok, but the support hand is just too thin. My palm doesn't have enough contact with grip. My strong hand fingers wrap pretty far in to the weak side of the grip. - LOK palm swell bogies. The right side feels a bit too thick. I have hard time reaching mag release and because the texture is so rough breaking my grip is slow. Also getting the grip back is slow. The left side is okayish, but the hump is too forward. I have trouble getting my grip high. I end up gripping a tad too low. What I'm wondering where I'll spend my next 100eur. Or should I just start sanding and shaping the wood grip to make it fit my hand. What I want to know where Henning and Unica grips fit compared to three I have now.
  9. The aluminium extreme grips. How is the gun license process in Denmark? In Finland you have to first shoot two years on loaners and have a sport you're practicing even before you can even a apply for a license. E: you can sand down the current wood grips and reapply the grip tape.
  10. I'll take one in stainless and something lower than 12lbs double action that stacks up. I don't like rails though. Stock 2 is still sexier.
  11. Tanfoglio will tell the manufacturing year based on serial number. I bought my 2003 gun 2nd hand last year and it was dirty but after cleaning it was obvious it was barely used.
  12. If you like the gun and the price only thing that would make me turn down the deal is cracked frame, slide or barrel. Pretty much everything else is replaceable. As johnbu said check the sear and hammer contact points. When I was buying my gun I read somewhere to buy a gun you like. One that makes you want to shoot. Then again others think the gun is just a tool. Everybody around me told to buy CZ or 2011. But Tanfo's just did it for me. It was either used Stock 2 or Limited Custom in 9mm. E: oh the Henning trigger is the front shifted one. Make sure you can reach the trigger properly.
  13. Looking at the slide cuts the gun is built before or around 2000 so it's old. I would personally pay max 600-700 for it. The magwell doesn't look like Henning. Not at least the new one. I have a 2003 Limited Custom and it has the new slide cuts so I base the age of the gun on that. Another club member has a 1998 and it looks like the gun in the pictures. If it has 20 round mags it's most likely a large frame. The good thing is the 5 mags and Henning trigger. Let's break down the gun cost in Europe/Nordic countries. Making a 20 round 9mm mags costs around 90-100eur per mag. So you have say at least 400e worth of mags. If the springs are good. Also check the top of the mag tubes for cracks. The Henning trigger is around 140eur. You also have to consider you might need new grips for the gun to better fit your hands. Also looks like the hammer has been changed so that's another 70-90eur. So you have to consider what that stuff is worth to you. I shoot standard division in minor as does most in our local club in Finland. It's an ammo cost thing for most since it's a hobby. Something fun to do. If you start spending lots of time and get really good you can always get a .40 later on.

    CZ shadow 2 Orange

I don't think it's that big deal here in IPSC land either since the new rules allow aftermarket trigger assemblies. And I don't think accuracy has ever been an issue with these guns in our sports. Still interesting idea of a more fitted and polished production gun.

    CZ shadow 2 Orange

https://www.czub.cz/CZUB_2019_ENG/54-55/index.html Oh it has a product page too https://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/pistole/competition/cz-shadow-2-orange.html Page 54 on the 2019 product catalogue. Has a barrel bushing, trigger job, hand fitting. Mags have aluminum base pads. No idea about the price.
  16. My clubmate who has been tuning the gun said he can mill the trigger if I want. I told him to go ahead. I'll order the Henning when I can afford it and work with the steel one till then. Thanks everyone for the input!
  17. This will probably be the first aid until the next paycheck
  18. Ooh goodie.. I get to spend more money to be honest I was already gonna buy the henning trigger but then decided to save and got the xtreme trigger on discount for 65eur. Should've gone with the Henning from the start.
  19. The trigger is new. Pins are new. Sear and hammer are fine. The hammer doesn't drop without pressing the trigger. The problem is that the trigger protrudes outside the trigger guard and hits the side of the holster thus pressing the trigger and "firing" the gun. The trigger is pretty much exactly the same width as the trigger guard. It's like the trigger hole in the frame isn't perfectly centered. The old trigger was super loose inside the trigger guard and would wiggle out side the trigger guard. The new one sits tighter but is now permanently outside the trigger guard (as seen in the picture). The trigger is centered in the hole in the frame. I guess only thing to do is shave of some of the trigger and accept that the frame is out of spec. I mean as long as safety is engaged everything is fine but I'd still feel safer if the gun wouldn't go off if I make a human error or the safety somehow fails.
  20. So I bought a used (2003) Tanfoglio Limited Custom and a brand new Ghost Ultimate holster. I found out that the trigger moves sideways inside the trigger guard and the holsters edge would press the trigger and allow the hammer fall if the safety wasn't engaged. I bought a new extreme semiflat steel trigger but that didn't fix the issue. The trigger doesn't wobble anymore but it seems the frame is out of spec or something since the trigger protrudes outside the trigger guard. Anyone else have the same problem? If you holster your gun with some determination with safety off the hammer drops? Obviously any and all ideas how to fix the issue are welcome. Here's a picture how it looks.
  21. Certain CZ USA and CZ Custom models are especially mentioned not to be allowed in IPSC Production. So either the match management messed up or the gun was just Shadow with allowed modifications.
  22. Hijacking thread. I made a deal of and older 2003 Tanfoglio Limited 9mm. It has two 17rd magazines with the aluminium basepads. The mags aren't in great shape. Also shooting minor I'm gonna be in a disadvantage as it is I'd rather not have an extra reload on stages too. What mag + extension/basepad combo gives me 20 rounds AND is IPSC Standard legal (fits in the box). And has to be available in Europe. Is there even such thing or do I just have to become the fastest mag changer ever?
  23. Bumping an old topic. I was gonna buy a Shadow 2 but am at some budgetary restraints. And it would be nice to afford ammo also. So I've been looking at used guns. There are few SP-01 Shadows. One already has a lighter main spring and some polishing done by a gunsmith. One is default. Prices are 650e and 750e. Ages 5 and 2 years. Then there is a Tanfoglio Stock 2 from 2008 with 4000 rounds through it. No work done. The price is 750e also. I'll be able to try the Stock 2 in few weeks but how much am I looking to spend to make the Tanfoglio trigger a bit nicer? And is it even worth to spend that much for a 10 year old gun? I know the ergos mean a lot. So far I've been shooting our clubs Glock 17's. I've tried the Shadow 2 and SP-01 Shadow. Shadow 2 ergos feel nice but it seems quite nose heavy. The SP-01 with default grips doesn't feel too good. Gun will be for IPSC Production All advice welcome.
  24. Well that's also an option. I just like the idea of the flat trigger. Then again that way it would be easier to shoot both. Just remove magwell. But I'm more interested fitting 20 rounds in the mag and the gun still fitting in the box.
