  1. For what the Honcho costs I had a traditional 2011 built with a 9 major open upper, limited major upper and A fudgecicle nobody but a few crayon chewers and winder likkers want upper. Total time from D2 Customs starting to finish was less then 3 months. And that was when Dan wasn't building race guns full time. Now he is.
  2. Is it really stroked if you add back the removed material with a shock buff?
  3. Not real cheap if you have to send the gun to them to get a new one.
  4. So I finally got to take this out to a match. Shoots great! Me not as much. Lots of dot wiggle. I hate the DAA alpha x holster and have switched to the everglades MRH now that I figured out how to move the holster body a little closer to my body, thanks @Sarge. Gun ran 100% but I need to relearn how to shoot a 2011. The trigger is much different then my A01LD. This gun is actually about the same weight as my CO gun but tracks a lot different which I didn't expect.
  5. Well my girlfriend has been shooting my open gun since end of June. Started out with just MBX and then picked up 2 Atlas 170s. In my MBX mags we have only ever got 29 rounds reliably in them, Atlas are 28 rounds and reloadable too. No issues with the Atlas mags at all. So when I made the switch at the end lf the season I ordered 4 more, the DLC coated ones. Loaded them 5 or so times with the maglula and then headed to the range. Seem to be working just fine. Don't know if the DLC is really needed but I think it looks cool and I can tell which mags are hers vs mine.
  6. The more I read and hear about the Honcho the happier I am that I went with a traditional 2011 setup with three top ends.
  7. I started out with a Glock 19 in A fudgecicle nobody but a few crayon chewers and winder likkers want. Quickly went to limited major. Then settled on SS for a few years. Shooting SS helped me get over the worries of where to do a reload and made me work on getting really good at doing them. It also helped me break down a stage really well. It's also super fun to shoot 9 minor in a 1911. Shooting A fudgecicle nobody but a few crayon chewers and winder likkers want is not competitive at all. And if your kids have any competitive nature as all do they will want to see their names higher up in the finish. Shooting minor in a major PF dominant division isn't going to do that.
  8. I will never understand how anyone is willing to wait 22+ weeks for a simple kydex holster. And futher more think it's totally acceptable to have to text/email/dm/insta/Facebook the guy to even get some response. His locking holster isn't even special. It's a cam lock with a magnet.

    ZEV OZ9

I'm thinking of getting a new oz9. I sold mine a few years ago and have missed it since. It was a nice blaster.
  10. Oh I know all about the gauge. I've watched my girlfriend get bit by it a few times with her old P320
  11. I'm left handed. 99% of the tike it's fine. The only place where I really find issues is shooting gear. Everything is made right handed and then half ass adapted to left handed shooters. Like is it really that much for a company to make a mirror image of something and manufacture it? This is especially prevalent in race holsters.
  12. Well I received it. Actually I got the newest one. The ultra holster. It's a decent holster. Release isn't super smooth though. Probably because the licking block is plastic and has to bend out of the way to release the gun. And the lock lever is impossible to get to if you are left handed. So for me, left handed, it's just another holster to add to the no pile.
  13. Yes I plan I keeping a couple 140s in my range bag just for these instances. I figure I already have them and may as well just keep them for the occasional need.
  14. I'm really kicking myself right now. I've shot a tanfo or CZ CO gun all year because the girlfriend was shooting CO and I didn't want to reload 2 different rounds. Had a good time with CO but I've had my open gun for a year now and want to shoot open. I was going to start this season but.... see above reason. Well she switched to open finally so now after the season is done I just started practicing with the open gun. Good lord the first session was horrific. The gun runs great, I however have seemed to have forgot how to use my trigger finger with a fine tuned 2011. I can get good splits on .18/.20 but every 5th or so transition I seem to freeze up on the second shot. Before this season all I shot was a 1911/2011 and dont recall having this issue. I didn't expect to now. Ahh well. I guess I have all winter to relearn this. What is a good way to break the habbit?
  15. Ok cool. I'm not crazy on this idea then.
  16. I'm using 7.0gn as well. Was doing 6.8gn but after going to a few majors this yeah and it bairly made major I bumped it to 7.0. Now it's a comfortable 171PF. Load is 7.0gn WAC, PD 124JHP V2, 1.170 OAL, all federal HS used brass, ginex SPP. Gun specs are 5.0" KKM bushing barrel, D2C comp with to up ports and 2 side ports at front of comp.

    New Build

Believe me you won't regret it.
  18. Yeah I here ya man. Sadly companies like this are out there and ruin it for people. Belive me there are many great builders around who wouldn't even hesitate to make this right. If you look on the 1911s forum on here you will find my thread on my Venom Customs 1911. Don had a bunch of troubles with the company that did the blue PVD on my 1911 and it ended up being I think 4 or 5 months of back and fourth between him and them. He was very very upfront with me through out the process and apologized to many times. Once it was all said and done he sent me the completed gun with 5 or 6 tripp 40 cal 1911 mags before I even sent him the final payment. I hope you get the outcome you want.
  19. TBH man I'd have a lawyer informed of what is going on. And the only thing I would accept is my money back. I get that you want a Honcho but...... they have already proven they aren't good at customer service and satisfaction. And on top of that I still don't understand how a basicly machine fit with just standard parts, not hand fit, how they can say it takes a year to build one. I can send $6,000 to another builder and have a brand new perfect open gun in 3 months max. And it won't have coating issues.
  20. You may want to check the laws on that. I can 100% guarantee you he can charge it back. Belive me I went through this kind of stuff with a company that does custom truck suspension and steering parts. So long as you can prove they didn't meet the agreed upon time-frame or quality you can have the CC do a charge back.
  21. I sincerely hope you put it on a credit card. If you didn't..... basicly you have no recourse at all. If you did you can cancel payment through credit card company and they will take their money back. Take it off your bill and then your end is all done. The fight for the money will be between PT and the CC. The CC will win. Either way you dont have to worry. I went down this road with a $4,000 truck parts purchase that I ended up loosing about $2,000 on because I used a debit card. With a debit card it's your money and the bank can't do anything to get it back.
  22. So I'm going to shoot open exclusively now that my girlfriend has switched. I'm thinking of just running 170s except if there is a stage where I need to go prone or kneel. I've found reloads are fine, actually IMO a little easier after doing some dry fire. What's yalls opinions?
  23. Mmmm yeah I'm with @Sargeman. Check your pm.
