Make sure you are not the first shooter on any stage. I'm cooking lunch on Friday and will shoot where ever and whenever I can squeeze in a stage. I can usually plan a stage in a few minutes, hopefully there are some good stage planners around when I show up. Otherwise, I just spray and pray!

AFAIK, Everything works in my open gun. yes there are variations between the types and brands. If it goes boom I use it. I stay away from super hard primers like Wolf and Magtech. YMMV. I currently run CCI Small Rifle Magnum with no issues.

I don't know what distance you drive or don't drive here in the DFW area, but there are 2 USPSA matches a month. DAPS has one on the 2nd saturday at ETTS and there is one on the 3rd sunday at Cresson hosted by Cross Timbers.
