  1. I think it is way too much brass and not enough water. The weight of the cases hitting each other is what is causing the damage. The pins do a super job of cleaning the inside of the brass and primer pickets. I use a Frankford Arsenal media separator to remove the pins. I fill it with water and it rinses the soap off of the brass and floats the pins out of the cases. Then I just dump the water out of separator into a big funnel with a screen in it to catch the media and empty the funnel back into the tumbler for the next batch. Any remaining in the funnel and separator are retrieved with a magnet. I tumble in the soap/water mixture for 3 hours while I do something else. Probably longer than I need but they always come out better than new. Primers are remove before washing, so pockets are completely clean. Finished brass is dumped from media separator into a pillow case and shook to remove excess water. Brass then goes in a food dehydrator and dried. Never an issue with pins in brass or wet brass. 40 SW brass is lubed and sized. 9MM brass is ready for to reload. I don't size while removing primers because any dirt on cases will scratch the case. I am retired so I have the time to do the above steps also gives me several chances to inspect brass before using. I also have OCD :-).
  2. How much water are you putting in your tumbler? I have the same tumbler use 1 gallon of water, 5 lb. ss pins and 400-500 9mm cases along with Armor-all and Lemi Fresh. Do not have this problem.
  3. Well I just got back from a chrono session and I have the same mislabeled product. It took me 8.8 gr. to reach the same power factor of 152 that I was able to make with 8.0 gr. with powder from my previous order. And my ES and SD s have went to crap. Used same re-calibrated scales (2) as before, same gun, same bullet etc.... Have sent the info to Shooters World and see what they say. It was 20 degrees cooler (70F) here today than in august but I kept the rounds in front of my trucks heater for the hour drive to the range and left them in the truck until they were loaded in the magazine. So it shouldn't be much of a factor.
  4. Just received a reply from Shooters World and they said it was a labeling error. I haven't opened mine but will and chrono some rounds at the load I used previously and see what I get.
  5. I just received and order from Powder Valley this week and the 8 lb. jug said "Rifle" on it above the part number also. I sent an email to Shooters World to see if this is just a label error or the powder is not correct. I want to be sure before I open the container.
  6. Shot one hundred each of the 7.6 gr. and 8.0 gr. last week and I like the 8.0 the best for now. The comp is working and the load is very accurate. I am over 70 so I strive more for accuracy as speed in transitions on a stage is not my forte. Major power factor is not a big deal. Matches are more for the comradery and enjoyment for me. I do like the powder and plan on using it next year. Cut back on the oil on the pistol and it runs pretty clean now. I also tested 124s and 121 gr. and the 115 gr. CMJs were the most accurate for me. Thanks for the info I may test some more this fall. I am going to finish out this year in CO.
  7. I was getting the cornmeal looking residue and I usually run a pretty wet gun. I cut way back on the oil usage and that last 150 rounds I shot pretty much eliminated that residue.
  8. Kris, Thanks for info. M
  9. I was looking for a load to produce enough gas to make my comp work. Making an open pistol out of my Q5. Don't really care if it is magor PF or not. SHooters World lists 7.8 gr. as max for 115 gr. @ a 1.05 OAL for Major Pistol. I started at 7.4 gr. and 8.0 gr. gave me the best accuracy with no signs of excessive pressure.
  10. What OAL are you using? And what gun/barrel? I have been developing a load with this powder and I am up to 8.0 grs. at 1.140 and am getting 152 PF out of my Walther Q5 with a Jarvis barrel and a Lone Wolf comp with a MG 115 gr. CMJ bullet. A MG121 IFP gets 157 PF @ 1.120 with 7.8 gr. Going to shoot the 115 gr. @ 1.120 and see what it does and if it gets rid of the cornmeal. Lovex recommends shorter OALs. Also will try 8.5 gr. @ 1.140 w/ 115 gr pill and see what it does. From past results it should get me to around 165 PF. Like the accuracy and SDs of the powder, It burns pretty clean just not crazy about the cornmeal cleanup.
  11. Another vote for the PM-9. It's my favorite 9mm 1911.
  12. I have owned a polymer Q5 for two years and shot a SF model along side mine and I didn't care for the SF at all. I have smaller hands and the polymer version fits me much better. Hopefully they won't discontinue it. It is a great pistol
  13. What power factor are you trying to load? When I started using P Delta 180 gr. RNFP I was loading 3.5 gr. of N320 @ 1.145 OAL and getting a soft shooting load at a Power Factor of 134.1. The barrel of you Glock and your magazine .will determine what length you need to load at. I load my 1911 to 1.165 and my STI to 1.180. I load 4.1 gr. to get 130 PF with the STI. That is with a P. Delta 180 gr, JHP.
  14. Yes my retainer plates are plastic. I believe they are the same, but Tripp can verify.
  15. Call or email Tripp. I had an issue with a follower and they were very helpful and got me a replacement quickly. Do your mags have the plastic base pads. I have the optional metal base pads and they are really tight.
  16. I only run a bore snake and dry patch.
  17. If you load minor power factor and do not run a comp will a full metal jacket bullet with an exposed lead base cause problems? I have a Walther Q5 and just recently purchased a Jarvis barrel. In order to get my reloads to P&S I have to load to an OAL of 1.095 with my Blue Bullets 135 gr. TC bullets. I used to load at 1.135 with my factory barrel. I had Precision Delta 124 gr. RN FMJ i have used for my 1911 and I had one left. Because of its profile I can load them at 1.150 and P&S in the Jarvis barrel. I have a 100 rounds of the Blue Bullets loaded up at 1.095 to check for feeding issues next week if I have feeding issues is ther a problem with going to a FMJ round? I clean my barrels after every 500 rounds. Thanks in Advance.
  18. I have a Comp-Tac holster for my Q5 and it says the same thing as yours on the front, and it fits perfectly. I have had it for a while and I really like it. I even have a Leupold DP on it. If you have already tried adjusting it I would contact Comp-Tac and see what they say.
