  1. That's what I was hoping...sort of a set it and forget it kind of thing. Seems like something is very wrong if I have to continually open up the comp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Funny Matt, real funny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Is alignment reaming and on-going process or is this something I can expect the gun builder to get right once and be done worrying about it? I'm honestly curious why I'd need this beyond fixing it the first time. What kind of work has to be done on a regular basis which would require further alignment reaming? Still new to open and learning every day... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Um, yeah. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That would have been nice indeed. I just couldn't see the jacket material on the comp port until I put it under some magnification. Sucks getting old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yes, that's what I'm doing. Matt Cheely is taking care of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. After getting the barrel throat lengthened my 1.160" load is plunking fine however bullets are still tumbling. So I looked more closely under bright lights and a bit of magnification (my eyes are not want they once were)...I can clearly see that bullets are scraping the last port. Measured the opening to be .365". Compared to my DVC which is measuring .387". What size reamer should I be looking for? Is the DVC's measurement reasonable or should I be looking at something slightly smaller? Is is relevant that the CK has a two port comp. it the DVC has three ports? 8. I shot the match on Saturday. I didn't feel like there were any real bad 180 traps. There were spots where you had to pay attention running up range or changing mags running right to left...typical stuff people ought to be used to dealing with.
  9. That's "all"...just the short chamber and the keyholing. The ejection seems fine. It ejects about 4'...which is 1/2 the distance of my DVC, which is slinging brass way out now that the ejector and extractor are all tuned up.
  10. I'll keep an eye on that. The first problem I wanted solved was the extremely short chamber. Planning to test it out on Sunday and see if the keyholing is solved or if I need to look closer at the comp for signs of strikes.
  11. I have been loading to 1.160" for my DVC, so I sent him a dummy round at 1.175" just to give me a little room to load longer if I decide to. I haven't had a chance to try anything longer as I am currently set up and running my PCC load. I should be able to switch back to the 9 Major setup on the press and try some longer loads and see what's what in the next week or so.
  12. I put a 206 at 12 o'clock on my mpx. Zero at 15 yard. I don't notice it when looking thru the c-more which I have mount on a ~3/8" riser. Haven't run the laser in a match yet so I don't yet know how useful it will be on the weak shoulder and left leans, put it seems like a good plan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. No. I said my rounds would not plunk. He said send him the barrel and a dummy round and he would fix it. At least so far as my rounds passing the plunk test, that's good to go. I'll get some rounds down range Sunday to see if this cured the key holing problem too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah, it seems like a known issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. After getting my barrel reamed/throated I am able to plunk my preferred load which is at 1.160" COAL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Got my barrel back...six days from when I sent it to receiving it back. Now it's plunking my 1.160" loads no problem. Thanks Matt Cheely for the quick turnaround. Shooting single stack nats on Saturday so I won't test it until Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks for the reminder on McMaster...I had failed to check there.
  18. Do you have a link or source for Torx screws in 5-40? All I'm finding are hex and I've already experienced stripping the head. Grrr! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. We upgraded to kindles last fall after our outdoor season ended. Shooting indoors thru the winter everything great. The kindles a much faster...no lag when scrolling down for additional targets. Problems started during our first outside match...I got a lot of complaints about the kindles suffering from glare. Maybe the updates above will help, not sure. My solution was to buy the shades offered by wehateglare.com. That looks like it will resolve/workaround the glare problem but I will know more after our may match on the 28th. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I still have a lot to learn. Appreciate all the guidance I've gotten here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thx teros! I think I've found what I need on amazon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. You guys have been very helpful on my open journey...so here's another what is probably a stupid question. I'm trying to mount a thumb rest on my new ck Arms open gun, but the screws supplied are too short. Of course the local hardware store doesn't have anything this small. So what is the screw size? Not worried about the length...will cut to fit. What is the typical diameter and thread pitch? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Yes I could see where it was rubbing. I likely could have messed with it but as it was basically new, less than 750 rounds, I figured it best to let STI sort it out. I don't know if they had one bad extractor or maybe a bad batch. Either way that's what the guy told me when I talked to him. He said he ran six mags thru without issue. When I got it back I ran a couple hundred round thru it and its running great. I agree...100% satisfied with the warranty service from STI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Exactly how I ended up with a CK... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
