  1. I was running a Geissele SSA for a while then recently switched to a Hiperfire 24C. The SSA ran fine, but I was getting concerned that it may fail in the MPX so I switched. I'm about 1000 rounds into the Hiperfire and happy that I switched.
  2. Nice gun. I ordered one last week from a dealer...picking it up tomorrow.
  3. I got the new ejector...same problem as the original. With no ejector in the gun the slide racks and returns to battery as normal. Waiting for STI to send me a shipping label...
  4. STI is sending me a new ejector to try. If that doesn't fix it they will RMA it for repairs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. On the end towards the muzzle, on the outside surface of the ejector...about the last 2mm of it is clearly rubbing.
  6. Thanks...I've taken a close look at the ejector on my DVC Open and compared its fit against my 2011's and single stacks...there is no doubt to me that the ejector on the DVC is rubbing against the slide. None of my other guns show any evidence of that rubbing. I had see that about 2mm on the muzzle end of the ejector are showing slight wear from the rubbing. My next step is to send it to STI and have then diagnose and fix it. Thanks to all for getting me pointed to what appears to be the issue.
  7. Can you share which Brazos ejector you used? I'm assuming the pro series performance tuned ejector.
  8. I will have to check this tonight. In fact I think I will remove the ejector and extractor and see if the slide reciprocates without any snags in that state. I'll remove one at a time to see which, if either, is the cause of the problem.
  9. It still has the stock recoil spring, which according to the STI website is 8 lbs.
  10. So this hang up happens with no mag and rounds in the gun (dry firing) and when live firing. I guess I don't see how the ejector could be causing this. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thx
  11. Thanks for the thought...I've not messed with the trigger so I'm thinking this isn't it. Come to think of it, I was having a lot of extraction problems so I did tweak the extractor a bit to add some tension. Maybe too much...
  12. I've got an Aftec sitting here that I've been meaning to put in...maybe I'll try that before sending it to STI.
  13. I have maybe 700 to 750 rounds on the gun. Still have the factory recoil spring. While I have plenty of other recoil springs I could put in (also shoot single stack in 9mm) it doesn't seem like a recoil spring should last only 750 rounds max. Or maybe that's just how it is with Open. This problem has developed over the last 200 rounds, so need a new recoil spring every other match (plus practice in between) seems way excessive.
  14. Yep...that's my plan. Calling them tomorrow morning.
  15. My first major (Area 5 last August) shooting limited major and I got down to the last bullet too...end result was 165.4 power factor. I won't do that to myself again. Bumped the load a couple tenths of a grain and now I feel that I will comfortably make major the next time. Of course I have a chrono and had chrono'd the load for Area 5...was about 169 on my chrono...same lesson as the OP to not run that close to the edge.
  16. Yes...very wet. One place it seems to hang up is on the disconnector.
  17. My still relatively new DVC open has progressively gotten worse about failing to go into battery. A few hundred round ago it would happen once or twice in a stage. Now it's every single shot. Bolt action open gun was not what I was going for. I'm not seeing anything obvious like a pile of metal shavings or something like that. I've cleaned and lubed it, and even in that condition, no mag in, when I rack the slide it hangs up just out of battery. In both cases, either in dry fire or live fire, a little bump takes it into battery. Anyone seen this, have a hint?
  18. I shot a 34 in production for years...so you should be good to go there. It sounds like you have some sort of fiber optic front sight, which is pretty much standard in uspsa. I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are describing as the rear sight. Is it a ring that centers around the front post? Anyway, it sounds like it should be ok for prod...if the RO gives you a hassle about it just know that changing glock sights takes like 2 minutes. Have fun and be safe. Speed comes later.
  19. Ok so I got the Arredondo spacers in the mail today. Set up my big sticks with these and a grams spring and follower. The result is 29 reloadable. Sweet! Thanks for all the pointers.
  20. Yep that is what I am expecting for capacities. The problem is not the feed lips, but at the bottom of the mag where the ribs on the side stop...the bottom round slips off the follower and jams up against the side of the tube and the follower causing a nifty salt shaker effect. This is apparently a common issue with STI tubes as I am learning. Never had this with my limited or 9mm 3 gun pistol, but I wasn't pushing the capacity this hard either. Open is a learning adventure for sure.
  21. I've got some Arredondo mag inserts on the way...looks like that ought to solve this particular issue.
  22. New open shooter, trying to get a few extra mags set up. I've tried Taran Tactical and Grams followers, but when I load the 23rd (in a 140mm tube) or the 27th (in a 170mm tube) the bottom round slips off the follower and jams up the follower and spring. Of course all the rounds except the jammed one fall out. It seems like I ought to be able to get at least 24 adn 27 or 28 in the mags, given how easily the last one goes in. I've not encountered this problem with either my Limited or 3 gun guns (both STI Edges). I'm using Taran Tactical 7g (on the 140) and 2g (on the 170). Advice? Should I be happy with 22 and 26?
  23. > headspace gauges from Manson Got any more specific details?
