  4. I used to shoot there as a civilian but they’ve not had a match open to public for a year or maybe close to 18 months. Too bad, great bunch of guys and always a fun match.
  5. That conversation has happened with our board and we are doing everything possible to make major matches possible as soon as we feel that the range and the shooting challenges we can present meet up to the expectations shooters have of matches at SUPS. I also know that the county wants to see large matches come back to our range...that’s why the invested like they did, although they could have invested smarter by listening to people who, you know, actually shoot and run large matches. But that’s water under the bridge at this point.
  6. So I’m on the SUPS board and have been involved in the reconstruction process since the beginning. The county shut the range down in March 2020 for complete reconstruction to address some reported safety issues regarding rounds ending up over the mountain (a highly dubious allegation). The county did the design and contracted the work without any input from the SUPS board even though we repeatedly approached them with design input. As a result, all the berms were leveled and rebuilt so all shooting angles are now 180 degrees away from that ridge line. Also, the berms were built to ridiculous proportions (height). The bays are now very narrow and in some cases quite shallow. Some bay have significant downhill tilt (big safety trip hazard). SUPS was able to restart our local matches as of mid January 2021. Fortunately the county is now listening to our feedback regarding how they’ve mess up the range. They have stated they will make some berm changes per our requirements to host effective matches including level 2 or 3 matches. We do recognize that fixing the berms will take time and budget from the county. We (SUPS board) believe the fixes will happen but we don’t know when. We currently have 30ish bays available so once we are able to get the berms fixed we hope to return matches like Berry’s Steel Open and Uspsa major matches. In the meantime, if you are visiting the SW Utah area please come by and shoot one of our local matches: USPSA - 1st and 3rd Saturday and Sunday 9am Steel Challenge - 2nd and 4th Friday 2:30-4:30pm Tuesday night Steel - every Tuesday 3-6pm Let me know if you have any further or more specific questions.
  7. I’m also interested in this. Anyone have experience fitting this to an existing 2011? Exactly what fitting is required? Edit: thx Nolan very helpful info.
  8. You know that’s how I roll.
  9. I’m calculating about three years at my normal rate of training and matches. I live in the desert and shoot year round so the seasons don’t impact my primer consumption rate.
  10. i shot a the north Arizona classic in Prescott this past weekend. At the chrono stage I was told to put three rounds in a mag and five more in a cup on the table. Then told to make ready. RO then told me where to position the muzzle and fire, read chrono, repeat and repeat. At no point did anyone handle my gun, mag or ammo besides me. I declared my bullet weight. They did not pull a bullet but said they would if I didn’t make power factor on my first 6 rounds.
  11. Interested in a official answer. I’d have to imagine this will become a common problem at majors this fall and into next year.
  12. I also run two pouches but you would be fine with just one.
  13. Here's an unloaded start at match speed: Not sure the time to first shot but the total time was 6.57s with 3 Charlies. Mags are downloaded to about 18 (full is 21) rounds. I prefer using short mags for unloaded starts and mandatory reloads as I feel like I have better control with this than a big stick. This is a JP with Glock mags, which go straight into the magwell...I find the load on this gun is a bit more reliably fast than on my MPX due to the angle you have to insert the MPX mag.
  14. Because we were using Nooks at the time for scoring devices and only had the one iPad which was used for registration / walk ons, arranging squads and other similar admin functions which would have been inconvenient at best in a nook.

My observation is that this function is not available on Android.
  16. Just download the mag a few rounds so it will insert easily with the bolt forward. If you are using a 30 round mag and a +11 extension you should have plenty to complete the stage.
  17. When I was running an MPX I used the 20s for mandatory reloads on classifiers. Other than that, 30s with TTI extensions are good to go.
  18. Sure...your mileage may vary, objects in mirror are closer than they appear, etc. Here is what I am loading for my “major match load”: 115gr RMR FMJ bullet, 1.125” COAL, 3.6 gr of titegroup. This gives me 1186 FPS/136.5 power factor. I’ve tried bullets from 95 gr up to 150. I feel like in my guns the lighter bullets feel like they cycle faster with less dot movement. I liked the feel of the 95 gr bullets but it requires a lot more powder. It felt good but was quite obnoxious (loud). I’ve tested bullseye, clean shot and sport pistol in addition to titegroup. Clean shot and sport pistol both meter great and run clean. I happen to have a lot of titegroup on hand, so I’m just trying to use that up. Yes it runs a little dirty but on a blowback gun that is easy to clean up. My main match gun has a very fast barrel, so I loaded a little hotter to make sure my backup gun would make chrono in case I had to use it in a major match. Specifically on the match gun, I'm now running the Maxamundi barrel/comp and handguard setup. That is a 10" Criterion barrel with a pinned and welded 4" comp. The smoke composites handguard is low weight and slim...I like how it feels in hand and how the gun transitions. Running the Blitzkrieg buffer...not short stroked (I had a problems with trigger reset when running it short stroked and haven't spent the time to mess with that). The other thing that I should mention is that along with playing around with the gun and load I also paid attention to one of Max's videos on the lead up to PCC Nats where he talked about adjusting your stance and grip to make the gun return to zero more quickly...these minor technique changes along with the hardware changes have certainly helped my accuracy at speed in local matches. Looking forward to major match season as the final test.
  19. I’ve had 3 MPXs and one GMR. I’m running built guns now. I got tired of the maintenance and unreliability of the MPXs. I had too many major matches ruined by failures. I then got the GMR because I wanted something that was known to be reliable. The JP simply ran out of the box. I added an optic and a magwell to make it race ready. I ran it for about 8 monthes, maybe 8-10k rounds and had no failures. During that stretch I made GM in PCC. I always loved the weight/balance (once the barrel and handguard are swapped out) and how the mpx felt shooting. The JP felt sluggish in transition and felt clunky in recoil. IMO the JP was about 2 pounds overweight for my liking. So then I built a PCC on a iron city receiver set. This gun is a mix of the best things that I liked about both the mpx and the JP. Using a 5/16 barrel, light handguard I got the weight to where it transitions fast. I used a jp both and blitz buffer...very reliable. I’ll admit I’ve had to play with bullet weights and powder loads way more than I wanted to but once I got that dialed in it cycles fast and the dot movement is about zero. So, if you don’t want to mess around...just want to shoot. Buy a JP and go have fun.
  20. Just get a gmr15. It works of the box.
  21. Legal. I’ve seen a few guys run them. Out of the box the ergonomics seem less that ideal. I believe taccom and maybe others have aftermarket bits to address the shortcomings.
  22. I have found that while heavier bullets do feel softer, the dot bounces more. I’ve found that 95/100 gr bullets feel more harsh but the dot is very stable. ”Better” depends on what your goals are.
  23. I’ve had a crimson trace 206 green laser on my guns for years. Maybe used them a dozen times. Either a hard left lean or a hip shot off the start position. When you need it, it’s useful but not more than about 7-8 yards out in the sun.
  24. I don’t have a bolt catch in either of my guns that are running blitz buffers. Never had a problem breaking bolt catches, why tempt it as a bolt catch is really not needed.
  25. We run a Saturday/Sunday match so I upload to PractiScore before I leave the range each day, upload to USPSA Sunday evening. The club treasurer generally pays the activity fees by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
