**UPDATE** Hot off the press from my AC: "I need to revise my answer. If it fits in the box and makes weight it is good to go. After market is good to use but must not by field removable. Threaded on comp is good. Drilled ports are good." I'm wondering if the AC's/HQ got together and made some decisions. I guess we'll see if we hear from more AC's soon...

I've actually had two sets of custom grips made. Unfortunately, it was back when I thought Big Butts were the way to go (Narrator: "They were not."). I definitely think the problem here is I didn't understand the difference between "full" and "full conversion". I hate how accurate that sounds, lol. I think I'm just consigning myself to cycling grips every few years until the end of time. For sure. My current favorite grips are actually G10 Hogues that I raised the lower finger groove on with my trusty old Dremel. I'm just hesitant to modify wood ones when I can avoid it because it's hard to get them to look nice after.

Ah hah! I bet you're right. I never really understood the difference between "full size" and "full size conversion"; adding extra wood to the bottom of the latter makes a lot of sense.

Question about Hogue grips... I guess I always assumed they were the same profile with features added or removed (big butt, finger grooves, etc). I recently bought a single finger groove grip and loved everything about it other than the finger groove. So, I bought a set without finger grooves, expecting a similar profile. The grips I got were significantly different: Admittedly, I ordered both of these off Amazon, but I'm surprised at how different they are. Did Hogue change the design at some point? Does anyone know if it's possible to get grips exactly like the single finger groove ones I have pictured... but without the finger groove?

Has anyone else had issues removing the front sight's set screw? I went to swap on a Henning and twisted/bent the allen wrench without the screw moving a millimeter. Any tricks that you've found?

Bear in mind that IDPA is using worldwide numbers and USPSA is just the US branch of IPSC. Worldwide vs. worldwide would be a much larger gap.

I said as much in my reply (respectfully). I disagree with this approach but fine, if it's how they want to handle it, that's how I'll enforce it. However, the rule has to be updated so that the average competitor can read the ruling and have it make sense without being privy to an email thread between the AC and myself.

It's not a huge deal when you do the USPSA upload. They give you a checkbox that says "AJ Johnson used member number XXXXXX, which belongs to Aaron J Johnson. Please confirm that they are the same person." As a MD and score uploader, I actually know who I'll have to confirm just based on experience. Similarly, if you register with a name that's remotely close to your actual one (and I know who you are), I'm just going to confirm it. The only issue I'd have is John Smith registering as Shooter McBlastyPants when I didn't personally know them because I'd have no way to connect those dots.

I clarified this with our AC. His rulings are: - Compensators of any configuration are legal in ESP/CO/CCP/BUG-S provided they're a factory offered option with a corresponding SKU. Yes, we're bringing SKU's into ESP. - Porting is the same; it's allowed, provided it was a factory offering for that gun. I sent a mess of photos and examples to get as much clarity as I could. Based on this judgement, a Sig P320 Spectre Comp is legal, while a P320 configured the exact same way with a Parker Mountain Machine comp is NOT legal. I don't know how a shooter who reads the rulebook would EVER understand that "firearms with an incorporated compensator are legal" is supposed to mean "firearms that came from the factory with a compensator and/or porting are legal provided they're of a factory configuration with a corresponding SKU that can be referenced by a SO". God bless the poor SO's working at Worlds this year...

I think the closest club is still the Galeton crew that's holding the Rocky Mountain Regional in June. Maybe there's an ICORE club out on the western slope that I don't know about, though. Any chance of you hosting a class?

Here's what these guns look like with the grip/magwell module removed (answer: "goofy."): There's a hollow section that runs the full length of the grip. As a simple first step, I'm going to see how much tungsten putty fits in there. It's not the ideal place to add weight, but I bet I can add 2-3 ounces without permanently modifying the gun in any way.

It's not a bad idea. No worse than the rest of this whole endeavor, lol. Out of curiosity, I removed the grip/magwell module to see if what might be utilized underneath. The metal magwell from my DLM actually slides on about 80% of the way, but you'd have to mill the inside at the rear to get it fully seated (since the metal frame guns are recessed at the heel). The bigger problem is grips from the metal guns can't be retrofit to the plastic frame (easily) as the rear of the plastic is flat rather than relieved like it is on the metal frame. There's a hollow behind the mag opening that could potentially be filled with something like tungsten putty. I'm thinking of doing that and running brass basepads and a heavy guide rod to give the gun just a hair more weight.

Yeah, it's the non-railed one (unfortunately in this case, but fortunately because the DA/SA trigger isn't great). A light would have been ideal.

(Disclaimer: Is this a dumb idea? Probably. But those are sorta my raison d'être) I have a SAO, triangular dust-cover P-Match in .40. Shockingly, I really like shooting it; I just wish the frame weighed more than a handful of biscotti. I've already added a heavy guide rod; other than that, has anyone figured out a creative solution for adding weight to the frame?
