  1. Does anyone make basepads that are actually easy to remove? I love the .300 Dawson E-Z's, but you still have to clamp the mag body to get them on and off (which isn't going to be helpful when I drop one in the dirt during a match). This is for SSP / Prod, so I'm specifically looking for bases that add a little weight and length without adding capacity (though it's fine if they do).
  2. Yes, but lack the suave Italian flair of the Tanfo.
  3. This is from the MD / AC in question (Frank Strong) - it's a "clarification" he issued to the area at the end of last year. "3.4.6 - a. For speed reloads (Tac reloads) Rev must retain the moon clip or speed loader. If they have more than 1 round left in the firearm. If they do, it is a PE." This is, in a word... garbage. It's completely unsupported by the rulebook, which states: "3.4.6 Shooters may not perform a reload which results in a loading device with ammo being left behind. This is commonly known as a “speed reload”, and will result in a Procedural Error penalty being issued. " The speedloader, as defined above, is the loading device. If the shooter has reloaded successfully, it will be empty. Rule 3.4.6 cannot be applied to an empty loading device as it literally states it must include ammo. In fact, there's no provision for retaining an empty loading device anywhere in the rulebook. What does this accomplish? Just another piece of evidence to add to my "IDPA hates revolvers" file. Pretty ironic given the supposed "carry gun, real-life scenarios" pretense they layer on the sport.
  4. What rule are you quoting? If the gun is stock, there shouldn't be any problem with the barrel. It's been a minute since I had my Stock II but I believe I got it under weight using Lok lightweight grip panels, a lightweight guide rod, and plastic magazine bases. Some hidden milling would be the best way to ensure you make weight. The gun is an absolute blaster in IDPA. Have gun!
  5. It's laid out clearly in the Match Admin book. M-3.1.5 - Tier One (all divisions required except PCC) M-3.2.17 - Tier Two (at least one regular division (so not Rev/Bug/PCC)) M-3.3.18 - Tier Three (at least three regular divisions) M-3.4.17 - Tier Four (all regular divisions) M-3.5.14 - Tier Five (all regular divisions)
  6. Thanks for the context! These are the downsides of having such a subjective rulebook. Like someone who's smarter than me pointed out, a rulebook is either a list of what I can do (and everything else is forbidden) or what I can't do (and all other reasonable actions are allowed). "Use your best judgement" isn't a rule - it's pretty generic life advice.
  7. Strictly speaking... yes. You left out the part where it's become a "Specialty Division" that's not required at Tier 2+ matches. BUG and PCC, too. Maybe it'll be a full division once Wilson Combat makes a revolver...
  8. Thanks! Looks like it's only changes to the holster requirements and arbitration process. I'm not sure how this qualifies for "IDPA HQ has listened to feedback from members, match directors, and match volunteers", but sure, whatever. Revolver still isn't a division...
  9. That's been the same since summer. The equipment appendices aren't actually updated, only the main rulebook.
  10. Time is a flat circle. I won't have time to parse it for a while. Please post if you find any good summaries of changes.
  11. Thanks for the write-up. I've been interested in these forever (they look like the pistol equivalent of my Chiappa Rhinos) but I've only ever played with the A1, and the sliding-style trigger on that made it a no-go. How does it feel compared to a Glock (if you have experience with those)?
  12. I saw that! I highly doubt I can make it - that's the last weekend we have our rental, so I'll probably be scrambling to get the new house as close to live-able as possible. Thanks for the heads up, though!
  13. Awesome, adding that one to the list. Indoor matches have their challenges, but they can totally be fun and interesting with good stage design. I used to run two indoor matches and you can get pretty creative.
  14. Thanks for all the replies! I'm literally compiling a spreadsheet to keep track of all of the clubs around. I shot an IDPA match at the Sig facility. It was... not great, but I hear their USPSA is a lot better. It also fills up in about twenty-five seconds. I'm shooting another match at Woburn this weekend. Should be fun! Also, it looks like most clubs pack it in for the winter (December through March). What do you guys do in those months?
  15. Third-ing the above replies. It's legal in BUG, CCP, ESP, and CO as long as it fits in the box. PCC, too... technically speaking...
  16. Most trigger gauges (not Toolguy's fancy one) only show maximum pull weight. So really, they're saying "my gun has a six pound trigger at max".
  17. I think your best bet would be to send the gun to TK for the "basic" action job and tell Eli that you still want to use factory ammo. The quality of work you get for the price is unbeatable. Having said that - the RevUp really is a revolutionary system, and truly drop-in. About the only negative I have with it is it changes the pull so drastically that it's sort of jarring if you're used to the traditional long, stacking pull of a double-action revolver. If you're not... well, it could be the ticket. As others have said, it won't make your trigger lighter on its own but it will make it way, way smoother.
  18. Actually, a question for you - did you leave the wheels on?
  19. Quick question for everyone. I picked up a second (budget) slide for my OZ9, which uses G17 / G34 slides and barrels. I noticed the barrel that came with the slide has a more pronounced recoil assembly "ledge" than the stock Zev barrel: It doesn't seem to be any issue when that barrel is run with the slide it came with; lockup on the hood is perfect, and the slide sits correctly in the frame. It cycles fine by hand, as well: However, if I put that barrel in the Zev slide, it locks up correctly on the hood, but the slide is set back 1/16" when the gun should be in battery. It's also difficult to cycle: Is it common for Glock barrels to have variation in this spot? More importantly, assuming I'm only going to use this barrel with its corresponding slide, is it a decent assumption that it's GTG? Or should I just replace it before even running that slide?
  20. I'm used to driving 1.5+ hours for a match so it's all good. Thanks again!
  21. Which club is in Dunbarton? Is that Pioneer?
  22. Always good to hear! I set a reminder to register so hopefully I'll get to go out and shoot it.
