  1. What speed loader holders are you all using for the Comp III? This will be for IDPA so I only need to have 3 on my belt. I had the Safariland 333 a while back, and I remember liking it other than the way it attaches to the belt (IIRC, it's just a leather loop).
  2. Yeah, I could have put this in the reloading forum, but it's really a revolver-specific question... For the folks who load the 125gr SNS bullet, are you taper-crimping it at the shoulder? Or seating slightly deeper and roll-crimping it?
  3. There are hotels all up and down Horizon, often for less than the "official" hotel. I will say that the Quality Inn is one of the better choices, though. I did Econo Lodge for IDPA Regionals and it was... fine... but the Quality Inn is definitely better. Just be mindful of where in Grand Junction you book as some of the hotels are 30+ minutes from the range.
  4. That makes sense. I have a few months to get this gun sorted so I'll experiment with a few Comp III's. To your point - they're cheap enough to mess with.
  5. https://www.pistoleer.com/jetloader/ A million years ago I did the full suite of mods to a set (filled the pin hole, removed the tabs, removed the sleeve, etc) and I never thought they were any faster than my unmolested ones. Do you usually do all that?
  6. Has been covered before? Probably. But we don't have a ton to discuss in this forum and this is probably the first time in a while that all three are available new. I'm eyeing a potential hop to SSR in IDPA next season so I'm setting up a K-Frame as a speedloader gun. I've used Comp III's in the past and like them, both stock and modified, but I've never tried the SL Variants or the Jet Loader. The concepts all seem similar but I'm sure there are small details im missing... What do you all like/dislike about the other two when comparing them to the Comp III? Are they worth 2x-3x the price?
  7. Grand Junction is a really small airport. I'd be surprised if you found a direct flight out of Texas. I'd just fly into Denver and do the drive. Yes, it's four hours, but it flies by because it's incredibly easy and very pretty. You're only in the metro for the first thirty five minutes or so and then you start climbing on I-70. You'll pass places like Breckenridge, Vail, and Palisade in the way if you want to break it up a little and check out some of our sights.
  8. Nothing I've noticed. I just check/re-tighten the sideplate screws and make sure the sight pins haven't walked when I've shot it a bunch.
  9. I have a .40 (and matching 10mm) load that's around a 171 power factor. I recently loaded a 132 PF test load and ran them side-by-side. The major load's recoil is sharper but the difference was less dramatic than I anticipated. Still, there's no getting around that you're shooting a major load from a revolver that weighs less than some Glocks. I have tens of thousands of rounds through both of my 4" .40/10mm guns and there's no mechanical wear that I can point out. The finish has suffered a lot more from coming in and out of the holster.
  10. That's my issue. It's great that they defined "stowed", but now it's only applicable to dropped loading devices as far as I can tell.
  11. Not very low if you want it to set off everything. If you can stick to factory Federal ammo, probably upper-8's or low-9's (complete ballpark figures).
  12. Where is the requirement that all mags must be stowed during a course of fire? Give me a rule number.
  13. I have direct from his mouth that screw-on is GTG.
  14. That's my take, too. Great summary.
  15. Doesn't work for a PE. The only penalty you can give in relation to "stowing" is for dropped loading devices. There's no penalty for shooting with un-stowed magazines. I agree that a DQ is not the answer.
  16. Does anyone make a kydex holster that works with a frame mount? Stock III / DLM frame if that matters.
  17. So we went from a 3-second penalty to a DQ. Huh. That... seems odd.
  18. When reloading, it used to be that a magazine had to be pulled directly from your pouch/pocket and inserted into the gun (you couldn't "stage" it in your off-hand while shooting). Looking over the latest rules, I can't find a penalty that would apply if a shooter does this. Did we do away with that rule (he asks hopefully)?
  19. I lick the floor clean after our indoor matches. Am I not supposed to do that?
  20. I installed mine easy-peasy despite being a relative Tanfo newbie. I'll say that the only annoying part is pre-travel has to be set with the trigger out of the gun, so you'll probably take it in and out a few times before you get it dialed in where you want it. Use threadlocker on the screw once you're happy with it.
  21. I always run through two full cylinders (at least) because some chambers are "slower" than the rest. It gives me a more accurate average.
  22. Not for the longer Limited Master slide, and not in .40 (as far as I can tell).
  23. Thanks for the follow-up, Dave! Just ordered one for my V-Comp.
  24. I've owned about 8 and currently have 3. I want to get one of the UK abominations to mess with but they're not available stateside.
