  1. Complete interpretation, but I read that as "anything goes" for mag releases in ESP. The other divisions have specific requirements written in.
  2. It doesn't matter anymore because the new rules supersede it. But, for history's sake... The Area Coordinators got together and decided that ESP rules were going to be "if it fits in the box, makes weight, and doesn't have any of the 'outlawed for all divisions' features (like comps), it's good to go for ESP". This did away with things like the bull barrel restrictions. It was considered a gentlemen's agreement because it was never officially adopted by IDPA (until the 2022 rules) and was instead circulated through Facebook and social media.
  3. I also don't hand out plaques at locals. The reality is, for a club match, most shooters look at overall results.
  4. Oh, look - Cameo! But, uh...
  5. That's amazing! Now I just need the gun it's going into to come home, lol.
  6. My match is on an indoor range with two bays - a wider, tactical bay and a narrow rifle tube. The latter was very limiting for stage designs but I made it work with a lot of 12-round, standards-type stages so everyone had at least one reload. Now I'm either going to have to write a lot more downloaded starts (which I hate) or limit the stage to 6-8 rounds to avoid de-facto SSP victories. Again, I don't mind the rule change, but I wouldn't say it's helpful.
  7. I suffer through shooting an N-Frame in USPSA since I have no option, but I shoot Rhino's in IDPA and ICORE. Quite honestly, it's not because it's a better design; the frame and grip size just fit my smallish hands better. They've been unbelievably reliable and the recoil mitigation is real (more "push", less "flip"), but they're pretty much impossible to tune beyond Chiappa's trigger job given the spring setup. Oh, and the aftermarket is nonexistent beyond paying Protocall to do one-off stuff for me (or paying Aria Ballistic Engineering to convert one... or two... to 10mm). I played with the new Manurhin at IDPA Nationals. I really liked it but couldn't tell you why; it just felt like a well put-together revo with a good (by non-competition standards) double action trigger. Not gonna sell off anything to get one but I'd consider it if I had money to burn one day.
  8. How is everyone reading the fault line rule? I read it as the shooter is only in-cover when they're inside of the physical fault, but another MD thought they operated as they do now and it was just implementing a standard of fault line length.
  9. Or at the very least ditched ESR/SSR and let everyone run moons. And I say that as someone with nothing buy major caliber six-shot guns. Eight would have been nice, though. And/or let us put a dot on top and run with the semi-autos in CO.
  10. "Please note that the Brian Enos Forum does not endorse 'shooting up'. Yourself, or anyone/anything else."
  11. That seems pretty harsh. I understand where the Ranger is coming from – I have zero issues with SSP going to 15, but it's not the most logical change when the "race" divisions stayed at 10. It's a little more confusing when the max round count is still 18 and I don't recall hearing SSP shooters (specifically) clamoring for more ammo. I'll admit to being equally confused about CCP going to 10. The capacity difference used to be one of only two things to differentiate it from ESP (the other being size/weight). Now, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just bump up to ESP (and leave everyone running a commander sized 1911 out in the cold). The only logic I can apply is maybe there were enough guns that were 10+ rounds in ESP but were better-suited to CCP in terms of size? My MR920L (longslide Glock 19 clone) actually fits in the CCP box.
  12. Hey Warren, Is there a recommended mainspring to use with the RevUp? I have a Wolff installed right now and I have some factory and Wilson units kicking around.
  13. Yup, caught that. No more "covers at least X% of the moon when viewed from the front" crap anymore.
  14. Please do. I want to elevate as many of these issues as possible so the AC's can talk to HQ and hopefully clarify things.
  15. I missed this. Jeez, that kinda sucks. I guess I'm going to be making more scenario stages than I used to (one of the bays I use is very narrow).
  16. I run a match on an indoor range; this change definitely makes my life harder (and removes a lot of options). We had a "Miami Vice" stage last month where you had to collect drugs and money while shooting your way back to the boat. It was a PE for each of the items left on the stage when the last shot is fired (spelled out in the WSB). The money was in a lockbox that activated the last swinger, so I could build in motivation there, but the "drugs" were just staged throughout the course. I literally have no way to make the collection aspect work now.
  17. Unfortunately, a lot of us MD's don't have the authority to dictate range rules. My home range is technically a "club" so we're going to have to try to get the board to overturn the carte blanche rule prohibiting AIWB draws at our range.
  18. There's a provision in the rulebook (2.13) that states: "Ranges that host IDPA matches may have additional or more restrictive safety requirements. These safety restrictions will be accommodated by the IDPA MD and staff provided that they do not interfere or conflict with the Purpose and Principles of IDPA or the administration of the match according to the IDPA Safety Rules. Any additional restrictions or requirements must be published in all match announcements and visibly displayed at the match in a location accessible to the shooters." Basically, yes, a club can disallow certain actions so long as it's properly messaged. My club doesn't allow AIWB at the moment but we're broaching the conversation now.
  19. ....I'm gonna start wearing plates at Nats, lol.
  20. That's a good note; Wilson doesn't make a gun (excluding their P320 riff) that qualifies for SSP.
  21. I don't mind it, but I don't really get that one. I think they needed a way incentivize SSP since all of the other 10 round divisions (CCP, ESP, CO) allow for modifications. What it really does is make it difficult to design interesting low-cap stages that aren't either horribly imbalanced or require a downloaded start.
  22. That happened. 2021 Nats. With a standing start and OWB holster.
