Okay follow up question. I noticed that some places still offer the slide cuts to make the old CO weight. Fire 4 effect claims they help and still recommend them even with the new rules. New to CZs and looking into getting an S2 for CO. With the OR guns out, is it a better choice than getting a complete milled gun from fire 4 effect/ CGW/ CZC? Seems with the milled guns that the optic would sit lower, and you'd get the benefit of their trigger job. I find that a 40 is just about perfect for USPSA. Not so long they're unreliable, enough for makeups, and a nice size to beer can grip for classifier reloads. I've been using 30s with extensions, but I got some ets 40s coming to try out. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

Definitely a preference thing. I was worried about the weak reset when I initially tried it, but got over it pretty quickly. I still prefer the ECL in my PCC mainly due to reliability concerns with that platform specifically. When shooting PCC stuff, I actually like the rolling feeling the Hiperfire gives as well since precision isn't an issue. My splits aren't faster, but they're easier to get if that makes any sense. However I was never thrilled with it for anything other than bay stuff in my 3-gun rifle. With the Diamond, the tighter shots I see in 3-gun become an exercise in stability and sight picture with trigger press no longer being something I have to concentrate on. I can also shoot it as quickly as the Hiperfire, I just have to be more deliberate and can't mindlessly ride the trigger. Seems like a good trade-off to for the types of stages I see. With my gen 1 extension, I was not able to get the follower to jump that transition on 3 different mag bodies no matter how much I pushed and slammed the mag into a bench. I was actually crushing the brass with my loader trying to get it in there. Tried beveling the follower, didn't help. Had to round out and polish the inside edge of the extension and it works now. Still have to hold down the round and tap it on something to jump the transition, but have a few thousand on the mag now and it doesn't seem to affect anything. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

Alright guys, what's your favorite option for open in 3-gun? I'm currently between the Atlas Erebus and the Honcho, but hesitant because I can't find any feedback from anyone who isn't affiliated with the companies in some way or another. Retention and ability to remove my holster from my belt is a must, so looking more into slide ride options over frame mounts. Shooting 9 minor so honestly not sure how big of a deal a comp will be. Thought I'd throw up my impressions again now that I have a more meaningful amount of time behind it (roughly 5k). Turns out I will not be taking it out to go back to my ECL. The weak reset is no longer something I notice, I can shoot it as fast as anything and haven't experienced the trigger freeze I was worried about. The break, short travel, and very low pull weight really shine anytime you're shooting small targets and/or at distance which is more common than big hoser targets where I'm at. It's the kind of trigger that works with you, not against you; that's the best way I can put it. I don't notice or think about the trigger press at all with this when I'm on the clock. It just does what I want it to do. I can't say that about any other trigger I've tried, except maybe the ECL if you're talking about hoser/fast stuff. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

It's faster and safer when the RO helps, which is the norm in 3-gun. In USPSA, I recognize that having long guns is relatively new to some, so I just flag and unflag myself and stick it in my back pocket unless the RO offers to help. I use flags from Plugr, so the flag part usually sticks out of my pocket and is easy to grab. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

I've tried several different buffers and loads. There's only so much you can cheat physics, weight is important. Given that we still argue over the efficacy of normal comps on PCCs, you will not be able to convince me that the speed holes on the lowest pressure part of the barrel are doing anything meaningful. Just because you can see gas does not mean that gas is doing anything. As far as weight distribution, you are absolutely right! That's a big part of user preference, but I still think I'm correct in saying that my upper probably doesn't feel too different than a factory JP with this barrel. Your tube by itself weighs as much as my entire handguard with hardware. Any weight you're taking out of the front with that barrel is being put right back out there with that heavy tube. No, they probably don't feel exactly the same, but I'd put money on them being pretty close. Recoil impulse is also going to feel different due to velocity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not downing this barrel. If anything, I think it'd be extremely well balanced with a factory JP rifle. I'm just saying that with two otherwise identical guns, the lighter one is going to move more, and that there is such a thing as too light for this application. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

Light is good, but there is such a thing as too light. I don't have any first-hand experience with the JP barrel, but I can't imagine the speed holes in the shroud make it feel significantly different than the Taccom I used for a couple seasons. I went from using the ULW with no handguard to a 14.5 and saw a very noticeable difference in dot movement. Roughly half with the 14.5 to be specific. There is a definite difference in the number of alphas I get, as well as the speed I feel comfortable pushing because I know I'll get the second hit. Everyone who has tried both versions of my gun has said the same thing. Granted, I was using a ULW with no handguard which is pretty far in the extremely light category. Did the quick math and a factory JP upper with their handguard and ULW is actually within an ounce of my current 14.5 setup. So if you're speccing out a factory JP with that barrel, it'll probably feel pretty similar despite the difference in barrels. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

The main con with a barrel like this is also the main pro; weight. Lighter you go, the more the gun will move. No way around that, but it's not a huge deal for some people. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

Taccom. Ar extractor, works with ramped barrels, and nib coating were the main things I was looking for. The "gas" key is pretty trick too, and overall it's just a well designed bolt. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk

I don't use one in my rifles that have an scs, but do in everything else. The buffer should not hit the pin if everything is fit right. If it does, you have other problems. That said, you can absolutely run it without a pin without any detriment to function. Just remember it doesn't have one when you take it apart! I actually managed to destroy a trigger in my PCC when I forgot and half a pound of steel shot into the back of my hammer. I've since put the pin back in, even if it is more of a pain to take the buffer in and out. Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
