  1. Yes...and no. In my experience, they are all the pretty much same in that I have gotten acceptable results from a lot of different brands without any leading. Most use the same coating with a few exceptions. Precision Black Bullets (the only ones I was unable to get good results with), Blue Bullets, and Eggleston Munitions all use their own coatings. I like the EM and Blue Bullets coating a lot more than the hi tech coating. Why do I say that they aren't pretty much the same? Well, among different hi tech coating suppliers, there seems to be a range of how well that coating is applied, how brittle it is, etc. Some of the worst applications I've seen have been on ACME's, which also have the best prices. Despite that, they have always produced some of the best results downrange though... IMHO, just find something you like and stick with it, otherwise you'll just drive yourself crazy if you are constantly thinking the grass is greener somewhere else.
  2. I know this is old, but I just made one of these last night and it's a much better solution than paying $50 for a stand. Just wanted to say thanks!
  3. Both should work, just make sure you crimp enough. XDm's seem to have super tight chambers.
  4. Well, I got to run mine for the first time last night at a small local match with about 20 people. Hadn't really gotten to familiarize myself with it yet, aside from about 15 rounds to get it sighted in. I did make a few changes - Taccom 3rd buffer, MIAD grip, Hiperfire 24C, and put a C-More 8MOA Railway on it. At some point, I'll change that huge charging handle too. I had been considering building my own, but then CK put this out at the intro price with most of the main components I was already looking at, so it seemed like an easy choice. I wouldn't have saved much(if anything) by doing it myself. All I can say is that it ran great. Not a single failure of any type, seems plenty accurate, and a pleasure to shoot. Hopefully a sign of things to come! Ended up with a very close 2nd place because I forgot to charge it at the start of a quick stage (whoops!). About half of the shooters were shooting PCC as well, which is actually atypical of this match.
  5. My wife and I both use the MK machining plastic throw levers, and I actually prefer them at this point. Going into last season, we both had the expensive metal ones, and by mid season both had snapped somehow (presumably from dumping). Grabbed the MK machining ones and they are still in one piece. Seems like they flex a bit and go back into place instead of just breaking when they take a hit. It's important not to over-tighten them when installing (pretty sure the directions state that, but could be wrong). Anyway, we'll see how they last this coming season. Initial impressions for me are good though.

Generally, FMJ is going to be considered the "best", but also the most expensive. You can get good results from plated as long as you follow good crimp practices. Personally, I just go with the cheapest option that gives acceptable accuracy, which coated seems to do fine for cheaper. Just my two cents.
  7. Awesome, thanks for the info!
  8. Is that some kind of C-more riser? If so, could you let me know what make/model? I did end up getting mine mounted up, but when I present naturally, I'm a bit high and end up looking at the dot in the upper 25% of the window. I don't really like bending my neck way down tight to the stock with a red dot, though if I do that, it lines up fine. Thanks!
  9. Yes sir! C-more should come today, not sure if I'll get it mounted up or not. Company was supposed to shut down this week, so I should have had time, but they floundered at the last minute and decided that we were going to be working after all. Not very professional of them to tell us that we'd be shut down between Christmas and New Years for 6+ months now and then change their mind the Friday before...
  10. Well, I just got home with it. Looks great, as expected, and it is very light. The balance feels "odd" because it's like all the weight is right above your shooting hand and your support hand feels like it's holding a feather. Exactly what I expected for the most part, though I'll change out the trigger and ambi safety at some point. I just got an e-mail that DAA is out of the C-more I ordered from them, so once they confirm they have cancelled that order, I'll go ahead and Amazon Prime it so I can get it mounted up this coming week and shoot this bad boy
  11. I like my Gen5 G19, but have found the same thing. I ordered some of the MPR's from RMR to simulate defense ammo for my wife and I in practice, and it turned out that they would not plunk past 1.040 in it, so I never bothered. As for your questions... At 1.095, you should not be in any dangerous territory based on OAL alone, BUT, you need to drop your charge and ladder back up to the PF you want to be safe. I can't answer if you *should* change bullets...what you have might work perfectly. I'd do the above, and if you cannot make that bullet work, switch to something with a more conical profile. OAL can affect accuracy to SOME degree, but it's probably one of the smallest factors coming into play at pistol distances. In my 2011, I can get great accuracy by loading up to 1.18/1.2, but another one of my super accurate loads in it has an OAL of 1.165. With my 9's, I usually choose an OAL that plunks in every 9mm in the house and run with it.
  12. Got a response to my e-mail yesterday, and they said that it was boxed up and ready to ship, but that they never received my FFL's license and have been waiting on that. My FFL indicated to me that he was going to send it back on the 3rd of November, so I was surprised to hear that they have been waiting for something on my end. In any case, they have his license now, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they get it sent soon. I have a week off coming up and that would be a perfect time to test it out and get it ready to run
  13. Thanks! We'll see, sounds like I might need to call or e-mail them this week based on your post. I ordered within a few hours of them posting the pre-order to their website on like the 2nd of November =/
  14. That could be. If so, it would be one of the better decisions they've made lately, IMHO.
  15. Thanks for the update! Still crickets here I think they went with the mil-spec trigger because AR people all have their own favorite triggers, and putting a "good" one in there would just raise the price and still not give a lot of people what they actually want. I'd prefer not to pay extra for a preference that isn't my own, so I agree with their decision, personally.
  16. Glad to help! The load we are discussing, and CHA-LEE's EM 180's have been my favorites in 40 so far.
  17. Grats! Still crickets for me
  18. This thread has me wanting to try the BA 9 1/2 out. Grabbed a pound of it last time I picked up some Prima SV just to see what it's like, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Still have a 8lb or so of Prima V, but since everyone has been out for quite a while, I'm assuming I'll eventually have to find a new powder too.
  19. Would be cool, but doubtful. My understanding is that the Hawk is a limited run. If memory serves, only like 62 were being made, so I'm guessing they were just trying to use up some parts they had laying around or something.
  20. Just in case you are intending to use them in a Gen5 Glock, fair warning. I ordered some specifically to shoot out of my G19 Gen5 and ended up having to shorten the OAL to 1.045 to get them to pass the plunk test. That's a bit short for my liking, so I didn't pursue the project any further. To be fair, every other 9mm in my safe plunked at 1.070 or greater, and Jacob from RMR said that their testing allowed an OAL of 1.06 in a SAAMI spec barrel. RMR is a great company that puts out great products, and this isn't a knock on them in any way. Just information sharing.
  21. My dad has one and it seems pretty solid. He shoots a CK 40 in USPSA, but didn't want to spend as much on a 9mm for 3gun since he's less active in that sport. IMHO, it fills that gap pretty well. Personally, I'd prefer it with a SDC, but beggars can't be choosers.
  22. I'm using a 5.5" CK Arms, so if you are running a 5", that would explain some of the disparity. Also, the 200gr Blues (which I am using now and settled at 3.7gr @1.185) have a flat point, while the ACME's have a round nose. Point being, seated to a similar depth, there would be less case capacity available for powder with the ACME's. All that said, my wife shoots a RIA Pro Match 5", and it took 3.9gr(with Blues) to get her to about 171 power factor and make sure she didn't have any issues at the chrono during the Fall Classic. I also shot some of the 3.9's through my CK and it was around 177 power factor, no pressure signs. I have not tested anything over 3.9, but I haven't observed any pressure signs there and don't think I'm pushing any limits. Just be safe, do your ladders and watch for pressure signs and you should be fine. Happy shooting!
  23. Thursday will be 3 weeks from when they gave me a 2-3 week estimate. Hopefully I'll have something soon and can post an update. Naturally, if it doesn't ship by tomorrow, I wouldn't expect any updates until next week with the holiday coming up...
  24. Scoff if you want, I'm just passing on information I have read, which relates specifically to 416SS, but perhaps to other materials used as well (not 100% sure). Clearly I don't follow that, since I actually do clean mine after every 5-6 matches. That said, I'm not going to pretend that I know more than the sources of that information. The video I was referring to: The article Adam is referring to: http://www.schuemann.com/Portals/0/Documentation/Webfile_Barrel_Cleaning.pdf
